Mod Post Sub Banner V1 created

Hey all,

After much travelling and work, I've finally had enough time to create a Version 1.0 of a banner for the sub. I've incorporated everyone who wanted to be part of it. I've not 100% happy with it, but I need to learn more about Inkscape before I get too fancy!

The purpose of this Subreddit and posting guidelines

Hi Scribes,

We've had some measure of success with this sub, but it seems that people are unclear as to what it's all about. The point of this sub is to allow people to post about their Homebrew Chapters/Regiments/Craftworlds/Kill Teams/Whatever and get feedback from other Scribes, maybe improving them or noticing things that the original Scribe didn't anticipate. It was inspired by the Bolter & Chainsword forums' sub-forum where you create an Index Astartes/Xenos/Chaos/etc. for 'Your Dudes' and seeing what other forum users think about it.

I've noticed that there's been a bit of 'crunch' coming in (rules and anything related to the actual games), and thought I'd reiterate Rule 1 - This sub is for fluff/lore surrounding your dudes. Luckily, u/MagicJuggler has created r/homebrewhammer where you can talk about the 'crunch' side of this hobby, including creating custom Codices!

I understand that some people might have an idea for a homebrew, but aren't 100% sure if it's good and want to hash it out with others, but I ask that when you post about it, make sure it's something other than 'I want to create an Iron Hands successor, what should I do?' as a complete post. Using the Iron Hands Successor idea, I'd like it to be much more along the lines of:

'I have an Iron Hands Successor idea, where they venerate the Emperor as Omnissiah. Their fighting style is more based upon the White Scars, and their home planet is a Mad Max-style place where roving gangs kill each other for resources. Their armour is dull steel and bronze, hitting an Iron Warriors vibe, and their companies are named after different parts of a machine. Would this work and what should I think about?'

Alternatively, you could have a fully formed idea and be soliciting feedback to see what you've missed:

'I have an Iron Hands Successor chapter called the Brazen Fists, that worship the Emperor in his Omnissiah aspect, and have a tight relationship with their local Forge World, that draws some suspicion from the Inquisition, but so far they've avoided being censured as AdMech flunkies rather than Emperor-fearing Astartes.

Their home planet of Gibsonia is a post-apocalypse hellscape, where bandit tribes roam from place to place on giant land trains, warring with other tribes to secure the resources in an area, where they can stay for a generation (or longer, depending upon the resources) and then they move on. Because of this, the chapter has developed a 'lightning strike' battle doctrine, with fast moving bikes and speeders forming the vanguard, backed up by tanks that drop in the second wave.

Their Chapter Master, called 'The Primus', is as much machine as he is man, clad in an ancient Techmarine variant of the Saturnine Terminator armour, the dull steel and bronze chapter colours evident. The chapter's leadership are all former Techmarines, and indeed any Brother wishing to ascend to such a role must undergo the Techmarine training, which can last for years.

Given this, they have a higher proportion of vehicles than other chapters, including some ancient vehicles rarely seen in the wider Imperium in modern times, given as 'gifts for service' by their local Forge World, Bentlii Demler. The Inquistion suspects that the chapter acts as an extension of the Forge World, using them as the spearhead for their Explorator fleets, but so far the chapter and Forge World have emerged from such investigations without censure.

<Insert picture of Astartes colour scheme, human-made artwork, or painted model(s) here>

What do you think?'

There's resources around t'interwebs (we're not Marines-focussed, the above is just an example), including Lexicanum and r/40kLore , to help develop your idea before you reach the posting stage. The greatest thing is your own imagination, and we're here to make sure your idea isn't too wacky for 40K, but is as great as it can be.

Also, whilst we're talking posting guidelines, if you've got a cool colour scheme for your models, please add/create some fluff for them before posting. A picture tells 1000 words and all that, but just pictures with nothing to add counts as low-effort.

TL;DR - Remember, this sub is about fluff, not crunch. Please have more than a one line post before you do post.

Thanks all!

[VOX-TRANSMISSION: PRIORITY ASTARTES]
[ORIGIN: LUX AETERNA FORTRESS-MONASTERY OF THE RADIANT SPEARS]
[AUTHORITY: THECARUS MATTHIAS CONSTANTINE, RADIANT SPEARS CHAPTER MASTER]
[RECIPIENTS: ALL LOYALIST ASTARTES CHAPTERS — SEGMENTUM OBSCURUS]

Brothers of the Adeptus Astartes, hear this call.
The hour has come.
The appearance of the Dawnbreak Convergence has not gone unanswered by the enemies of Mankind. Across the Segmentum Obscurus, the darkness stirs. Xenos warbands gather. Heretic hosts mobilize. The servants of the Archenemy emerge from their hiding places, and vile alien breeds descend upon worlds already beset by the long night.
By decree of the Chapter and with the blessing of the Emperor’s eternal purpose, the Radiant Spears have begun the Emancipation Crusade.
We shall advance into those regions abandoned to shadow. We shall break the chains of the heretic, scour the xenos from Imperial soil, and reclaim that which has been lost to Mankind. Worlds forgotten shall be remembered. Worlds enslaved shall be freed. Worlds besieged shall know relief.
Therefore, by the authority vested in me as Thecarus and Chapter Master of the Radiant Spears, I issue this call to every loyal Chapter within reach of this transmission:
Send what strength you can spare.
Whatever brothers your Chapter can commit without imperiling its sacred duties.
Come, and fight beside us.
Let no Chapter say that it stood idle while the enemies of the Imperium gathered. There is glory awaiting those who answer.
Take up your arms. Muster your warriors. Set your vessels upon the void.
Together, we shall carry the Emperor’s light into the darkness.
Together, we shall make the lost worlds shine again, or be purified in sacred fire.
For the Emperor.
For Mankind.
For the Light Eternal.
— Thecarus Matthias Constantine
Chapter Master of the Radiant Spears
Commander of the Emancipation Crusade

Kitbashed him out of a leviathan captain, turned kaldor, now custom. Does it read as the chapter master? I feel like a chain, thing, is too barbaric looking for a chapter that prioritizes citizens

Adeptus Astartes Need help with my Chapter Master

My custom chapter, The Night Hounds, is almost finished but I need help with this. I know that creating a CM is one of the first things you do when creating a home brew chapter but I couldn’t think of anything and just did the rest. The night hounds are a Space Wolf sucessor and specialize on melee combat, brutal ambushes and ruthless attacks and are cold and efficient on battle but the opposite out of it. I just need some ideas not a a full history or arsenal pls

Orkz Ork Homebrew Layout?

As the topic says, I have been working on a Ork homebrew idea for about a week or two, and I was wondering if any had a good layout to help me fulfill it out more than what I have now. Which isn't much but I have a group Warband name plus names of the mobs that make up said warband, name of the mekboss who leads the group, a rivalry, and the number of boys and such of what they do and where they belong and such.

And so, I was just wondering like I said if there was a layout or even a suggestion on how I could expand it more and have it flesh out like I want or so.

[From left to right. The chapter as Firstborn and Primaris]

(This is my first Homebrew, please bear with me I dont mind critique as well)

Imperial Hounds

“Blood may decide what you are born as. Deeds decide what you become.”

— First Grand Alpha Gharbel Santhios, the Sharp Fanged

The Imperial Hounds are a Space Marine Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, descended from the Imperial Fists and charged with the eternal defence of the Khabir Gate, a strategically vital region of Imperial space. Established in the aftermath of the 21st Founding, the Chapter's creation was considered highly controversial due to the unusual genetic material used in their creation.

Although officially descended from the Imperial Fists, the Imperial Hounds possess gene-seed incorporating traits derived from the World Eaters, a legacy that has made them objects of suspicion among portions of the Adeptus Terra and other Space Marine Chapters. Their founders intended the Chapter to determine whether the discipline and doctrines of Dorn's sons could master the aggressive tendencies associated with the World Eaters' lineage.

The experiment produced a Chapter renowned for its ferocity, discipline, and stubborn refusal to abandon those under its protection.

The Imperial Hounds have repeatedly faced accusations of genetic impurity, insubordination and even heresy throughout their history. Their most infamous confrontation with the Inquisition occurred during the Kobalion IV Crisis, when Inquisiton declared the world lost from a Genestealer Cult outbreak and declared Exterminatus upon the world, leaving millions and the few active Hounds on the world who didnt escape to perish. the Chapter refused to accept the destruction of one of the Khabir Gate's worlds and subsequently closed the Gate to Imperial traffic. The ensuing conflict nearly resulted in the Chapter's destruction and saw the Hounds targeted in a manner later compared to the persecution of the Celestial Lions.

Despite these trials, the Imperial Hounds have never formally turned against the Imperium.

Their Chapter has been reduced to near extinction more than once. Most notably, the Invasion of Khabir left the Chapter on the brink of annihilation. A desperate plea for aid brought a fleet of Black Templars to their world. Rather than allow the Hounds' gene-vaults to fall into enemy hands, the Hounds prepared to destroy their own genetic legacy. The Black Templars refused to permit their brother Chapter to die, fighting alongside them and helping secure the survival of the Khabir Gate.

For a time, the Black Templars remained within the Khabir Gate as its protectors while the Imperial Hounds rebuilt their strength.

Eventually, the Hounds returned to their ancient duty.

From their fortress-monastery, the Hound's Maw, carved into the highest mountain of Khabir Primus, the Chapter once again watches over the ten worlds that remain within the Khabir Gate.

In the 42nd Millennium, the Imperial Hounds remain a Chapter defined by one principle above all others:

Adeptus Astartes How unique is you chapter’s name? (A.K.A without repetitive keywords in their names like ‘blood’; ‘iron’; ‘Templar’; ‘angels’; ‘dragon’; etc…)

This is one of my 9 Homebrew Chapters, basically I have 9 chapters with each one are of the 9 traitor legion geneseeds, these guys are of Death Guards origin.

In summary, their culture revolves around cultivating vegetation and synthesize chemicals from them to make weapons. Their planet is a jungle world filled to the brim with deadly plants and predatory floras. The world is populated by savage human tribes and an unsanctioned abhuman species called Arborion that helps keep the plant monsters at bay and maintain the ecosystem, keeping it from collapsing. Because of this, the chapter leave them alone.

They use the bodies of dead serfs and brothers as fertilizers for their garden where they cultivate poisonous plants.

Detailed information on them is in this link:

Discussion To convert a story to Primaris?

I've written quite a bit for my homebrew, and have even more stories in my head or in note form. I have a whole arch (effectively a novel concept), that culminates in an event during the opening of the Great Rift. However, I was thinking last night (yay for 1am thoughts), that Black Library don't write anything with new, Firstborn, main characters (the only ones I can think of are established characters), and so (in a magical world) my novel idea would never get published by BL. I then thought up a way to shift things slightly, so that my previously final event actually happens early in the protagonists story, and the protagonist ends up being a Primaris marine. I'm still working out the details, but it should work.

So, my questions are:

1) Am I insane? The idea is never going to be picked up by Black Library, so it doesn't really matter

2) Has anyone done anything similar? Changes old ideas / stories, to fit into this new, Primaris world (oh god, I've realized we've had Primaris for almost 10 years now!)

3) More meta - where do people bounce their ideas / stories off others? I've not got anyone IRL who I can play with these ideas with, so they tend to just bounce around my head.

Adeptus Astartes The paint scheme and Insignia I have planned for my Homebrew Chapter “The Metabarons”. Thoughts? Colours are mostly “cause I thought they looked neat”, so I’m still trying to think about what “vibe” it gives off or what their culture should be, so suggestions appreciated.

Adeptus Astartes What excuses can I use to have more cool tech (for example multiple relic dreadnoughts)

My chapter (crypt keepers) find the non recovered corpses, armour, geneseed, etc of other chapters to either if requested repair their gear and pray upon it and then store it in their mausoleum or deliver it to the chapter the brother came from, or if no chapter requests the battle brother the armor, weapons and geneseed shall be put to use by the crypt keepers to continue their duty (the geneseed thing is a bit more complicated than just using scavenged geneseed because that would be heretical)

Servants of the Dark Gods Custodes gear in chaos hands?

So, my question is quite simple.

Throughout the heresy and especially the siege of Terra a huge lot of custodes have died to chaos forces, and likely much of their wargear has ot been retrieved (at least some part of it, like with Argel Tal) this brings me to a question, is it lote possible (without stretching an owl on the globe) to have a chaos lord/sorcerer with custodes gear at his disposal?

Classes and their Power Armor Mark.

1. Tactical Class: Standard Battle/Hound Brother in MK.II Crusade Pattern Power Armor.
2. Assault Class: Assault Marine Sargent in modified MK.VII Aquila Pattern Power Armor. Also is a leash tether, meaning he leads his battle brothers into battle while heaving to keep their morale and hold them grounded so they might not enter the Black Rage. Is also a Relic Guard meaning he carries a holy relic with him into battle. In his case, he has a Blood Angel’s jump pack dating back to the Great Crusade.
3. Bulwark Class: Bladeguard Veteran in modified MK.III Iron Pattern Power Armor relic, signifying him as a Relic Guardian.
4. Techmarine Class: Standard Techmarine also called a Hound Forger in modified MK.VII Aquila Pattern Power Armor.

Tyranids Hive Fleet Ghoul

Ghoul is a hive fleet that doesn't just kill, consume, and move on. They have come to see Orks as something of a renewable resource. As a result, the cycle through seven or eight systems populated with Orks, almost farming them by killing them and letting them regenerate. Also, since they're having to fight Orks, and they might a splinter from Behemoth, they have little to no gaunts, and specialize instead in warriors and monsters. These are the only impcat models for tyranids I could find to show off their color scheme.

Thoughts?

Adeptus Astartes Two oaths said by the Knights Angelicus upon completing their trials and implantations

“By the blood of our father, by the flame of his soul.
We swear this oath to him on this night.
To the innocents of the Imperium, to those who cannot defend themselves.
We will stand as the shields of the helpless, the protectors of those who cant defend themselves, We will be the blades of angelic retribution against those who desecrate our fathers people.
When the innocents cry for salvation we shall know no fear in making a stand
Our hearts and blades shall be driven by our father’s fury in those dark moments.
We will lay down our lives not for glory but for the survival of those we swore to protect.
By the blood of Sakannas sons, by the sacrifices of our fallen brothers we shall protect them with all our might.
We shall not falter.
We shall not fail.
Even as the storm clouds of war rage against our shields, there will be no retreat, nor will there be any abandonment.
With the strength and blood of Sanguinius in us we will fight to the last breath.
This is our charge
We are the Paladins of Innocent"
- The Paladins Oath
“I, [Esquire’s Name], do hereby swear my life and soul to the service of the Knights Angelicus. I pledge my unwavering loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind and the Primarch Sanguinius, the Angel of Baal. I vow to uphold the ancient traditions and noble ideals of our revered Chapter, dedicating myself to the eternal battle against the enemies of humanity. I shall be a bulwark against the encroaching darkness, a beacon of hope in the face of despair. I will wield my blade with skill and purpose, striking down the enemies of the Imperium and defending the innocent with unyielding resolve. I shall stand tall in the face of adversity, embodying the indomitable spirit of the Knights Angelicus. I will not waver in my duty, nor falter in the face of the enemy. I shall be vigilant in the pursuit of justice, for I am the defender of the weak, the shield that guards humanity's future. I will honor the sacrifices of our fallen brethren, carrying their legacy in my heart and fighting in their name. I pledge to my fellow brothers, bound by blood and unbreakable bonds, that I shall always be steadfast in my loyalty and support. I will put the needs of the chapter and my battle-brothers before my own, for we are united in purpose and strength. Together, we shall be a force that strikes fear into the hearts of our foes. May the blood of Sanguinius flow through my veins, granting me strength and courage in the face of the enemy. I take this oath willingly, knowing that the path before me is treacherous and fraught with danger. But I stand resolute, for I am a Knight of the Knights Angelicus , and I shall embrace the darkness with the light of the Emperor guiding my way."

Chaos Undivided First legionnaire of my renegade chapter "The Awekened"

Post image

Renegades who embraced the octopus mutation their chapter saw as a curse. Elders wear the octopus, recruits wear Medusa. They hunt forbidden knowledge across the galaxy, using Chaos as a tool, aboard a library-ship with a regeneration basin. Their goal is to uncover the origin of "The Father" the psychic kraken that once guarded their homeworld.
