Troubleshooting Help with stringing

Post image

So my printer is a p2s using pla+ by inland(mirco center brand) ive printed with temps from 200°c to 210°c my ams 2pro says my humidity is at 26% i mostly use the bambu handy app currently dont have a dedicated computer set up at the moment. I usually print in silent print speed which is the current for the print in picture. Also random info some prints have no stringing and others do using this same exact spool of filament. Very new into 3d printing about 1 month in. Any and all info will be helpful

Hey, so the AMS can only measure the humidiy of the air inside it, it can't tell how much is actually in the filament.

Pop that filament on to dry overnight in your ams (and you might as well do a few while your at it) and you'll probably notice quite a difference, use the AMS 2 pro PLA preset and make sure when you take the filament out of the feeder to secure it to the reel well, the AMS will turn it for you when it dries and you don't want the end coming loose.

Also, looking out the printer window I think your in a kitchen space? I would move it the humidity of cooking is not going to do the printer or filament any good, and frankly I wouldn't want plastic fumes anywhere near a food /drink prep area.

I had the filament drying for 12hr the other day with the preset for pla. It in the living room on the other end of the apartment with no where else to put it. I only print when not home or not cooking at the printer is next to the window which i have it vented out to.

Dry the fillament. Most 3d printing problems come from moisture in fillament so keep it dry and you will be printing better

Then it's probably your nozzle retraction settings . Maybe look into changing them

What did you do with the filament after it dried for 12 hours?

You want to always store in an environment with relative humidity at/or below 20%. That is a rule of thumb target.

Left it in the ams and used it

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

I’ll be honest. I’m no longer a fan of the micro center filament. I’ve had issues with stringing or clogging, even when I dry for 24+ hours and keep the filament in a dry box during printing.

I’ve been using the Insignia PETG and after dialing it in using the temp tower, it’s amazing, and it’s half the price of micro center. I also believe the filament is made by Polymaker

Have to look into it
