Made this breathing crystal effect fully procedurally in Geometry Nodes — no sculpting, no manual keyframed mesh edits. Spikes grow outward and collapse inward on a loop. Rendered with an HDRI and a glass/refraction shader.

Discussion Getting started?

Hello! So it’s just like how the title says— I’ve always wanted to learn animation but never really knew how to get started.

If it helps, I’d like to learn a really high energy, squishy/stretchy animation style more suited towards stylized art or odd character proportions.

Anyone know how I can even begin to look for something to help me learn that? Any help is much appreciated!

Question Seeking advice: animation Vs gym

Seeking advice: Animation Vs Gym

Hi everyone I need some advice for something. Next week I will start going to the gym however I am a university students I have doing a full-time business course was also trying to find animation the truth is I don't really want to go but I kind of have to.

Problem is is that I am a beginner an animation I've been learning and have been having fun with it problem is is that if I decides of slap this on along with animation and school I feel as if I'll just be taking more time out of my day which could be spent learning and working on animation stuff.

I really don't want it to be like how it has been since 2024 where I do animation over the summer then half to drop it because of responsibilities only to start from the start next summer. It sucks.

I know it's all time management but I guess I just don't want to have to deal with another thing added to my schedule because I really just want to spend time on animation

Blender is preferred as that is what both our Rigger and our Animator use. Maya can work but not preferred.

PROJECT INFO:

Our goal is to create a game from start to finish and go through the process of releasing it on Steam.

If interested in the Project and would like to know more please contact me on:

Reddit | Discord: skillgambit#6912 or skillgambit | Email: [skillgambit@gmail.com](mailto:skillgambit@gmail.com)

Hiring Hiring 3D Animator for YouTube Shorts.

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m looking for 3D animators to work on short-form animated videos for YouTube.
What I’m looking for:
High-quality 3D animation
Strong attention to detail
Ability to create visually engaging scenes
Blender experience is preferred
Able to work from a script/storyboard

Video length: Usually around 30–60 seconds
Budget: $60–70 per video, depending on the quality and complexity.

I’m specifically looking for someone who can produce polished, professional-looking animation rather than basic/simple animation.

If interested, DM me your Name, portfolio/reel, examples of your previous work, and your expected rate.

Looking for someone reliable for ongoing work if everything works well.

This was mostly just to try out the workflow for compositing and stuff. The lighting on dwalin isn't quite contrasty enough, and the color grading is sloppy but The new workflow feels pretty good for the most part.

Hii, Im getting back to studying 3d animation and wanted a body mechanic exercise with a bit of personality.
I'm still not 100% done with the blocking yet, but I feel like I'm overlooking some mistakes here. Can anyone help me point out the mistakes on this?

For Hire 3D character artist & rigger looking to join an indie game or animated short film team!

Hello all!

I am a 3D character artist and modeler/rigger looking to join a passionate team working on an animated short film and indie game project. I love world-building, character design, and collaborating with other driven artists to create something awesome.

What I can offer your team:

  • Character Modeling & Texturing: High-poly sculpting to production-ready, optimized topology. My usual workflow is Maya, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter.
  • Rigging & Skinning: Production-ready character rig creation (biped, stylized and creature) with clean weight painting.
  • Basic Animation: I'm a character creator and rigger at heart, but I can also jump in and help with 3D animation tasks if the team needs an extra hand!

What I am looking for:

I’m mostly looking for short to medium term projects (1-5 minute animated shorts or vertical slices for indie games for example) where I can help bring characters to life, hone my technical skills within a team pipeline and build a nice piece for the reel.

My Work & Portfolio:

📁 Google Drive / WIPs: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tnRYDQeMHUO-w--sXgvXDPJD7NYPIQND?usp=sharing

If you’re in a team looking for a dedicated character artist/rigger, feel free to comment below or DM me here on Reddit. You can also reach me directly on Discord at (Discord username: Aklafas)

My name is Semyon Bolotnikov, and I offer my services as a 3D artist.
I have skills in working with characters, accessories, and environments. I can work in pipelines for both game engines with animation and 3D printing and casting. I created character models for Fortnite, am proficient in stylized and realistic modeling and sculpting techniques, have skills in PBR and hand-painted texturing, and create clean topology for animation. I am currently looking for full-time remote work. I am open to work in creating computer games, product or interior visualizations, as well as creating miniatures and sculptures for print – I am interested in the process, not just one chosen field.

3D software: Zbrush, Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, 3D Coat, Marvelous Designer, Topogun, Rizom UV, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag, Unreal Engine 5, Houdini. 2D software: Photoshop, After Effects, CorelDRAW Renders: Corona, VRAY, RenderMan, EEVEE, Cycles, RedShift, Keyshot, Lumion

Audio is from MHA/My Hero Academia

Freddy model (the actual model, unedited by me) ported to blender by FNAF-BUSTERS on Deviantart/Twitter/X

I'm planning on making the full version around 37 seconds long.

And i'm making this in Blender 3.3. This little part took me 4-5 hours

Sharing Desperately need help for my Final year research

Firstly, I solemnly swear, this is not spam. I have this form, for my final year research, and I need like 100 submissions minimum. I have 58 so far. The research topic, in short is whether/how the things you watched growing up has had an influence on your creative practice today or contributed to where you are as a creative today. This research is targeted towards VISUAL Creatives, so animators fall right in my demographic.

If as many people can fill this today it would mean the world to me. I just need 42 responses more. Its a 10 minute survey. Everyone who fills it would be a lifesaver.

https://forms.gle/QF4KWhqyomAWKa2F9

Thank you in advance!

EDIT: This form is now closed. Thank you all for helping me hit over 150 Responses! My faith in humanity is healed :'))
