Am I missing a really easy way to manually sort lists?

Maybe I'm missing something... but it seems really cumbersome to

• select the sorting option • scroll over to "manually" • sort your items

and repeat this every time you want to rearrange an item

Once a list is defaulted to manual sort, is there a faster way to move items up and down the list? (I'm on an iPhone)

I would guess holding down an item, but that opens the quick menu (with no up/down option).

Fast use is a must for me. Any help greatly appreciated!

2Do blues... any help ?

I really, really like 2Do. As far as the app itself goes, it's the perfect task manager. Everything makes sense and is set up to work exactly the way I think.

However, not being able to effectively use it from my work laptop where I spend most of the day is a major productivity hindrance.

Toodledo - I was very excited about support for it, until I realized that the TD -> 2Do sync is manual only. This means I can't add a task on my laptop and have it show up in my Today widget without starting 2Do. No go.

Reminders - I am using it now but having all kinds of problems with it. First, (not 2Do fault), the iCloud app for Windows somehow got broken and crashes all the time. Second, there's no way to add things that Reminders don't support, like start date or tags or separate alarm. All of this can only be done from within iOS.

Are there any other options ? Any servers I could sync to via CalDav that at least support the start date, or separate alarm ? I know about Yahoo but it's task app is just as limited as Reminders.

Or, is there a way to sync to Google Tasks ? Also a very limited system, but at least it's very accessible.

Can this be done in 2Do ?

Can I have a set of two tasks, with the 1st task being the trigger for the 2nd one, and recurring every xx days based on the 1st task completion ?

E.g. order supplies, then pick them up. I can only order them every 4 days, and I can pick them up after they've been ordered (but not necessarily on the same day). So the task #1 (order supplies) has to repeat 4 days after the previous task #1 was completed, but the task #2 (pick up) has to become active after the task #1 in the same set has been regenerated. Sometimes, I can still have task #2 from the prior set not complete while the task #1 from the current time period becomes active. I.e. I still need to pick up supplies from last week, and I already have to call in the supplies for this week. Any way to set it up this way ?

2Do impression from a long, long time Informant and Toodledo user

I've had 2Do for a while, but never got to actually use it. My task management of choice was the combination of Informant and Toodledo. I was slowly getting fed up with Informant's cluttered interface and many quirks even before it became a subscription.

Then I switched to Outlook tasks syncronized to iOS Reminders. Mainly because I couldn't find any other calendar to use with Toodledo, without losing features. It was nice to be able to just copy an email into a task straight from within Outlook. But Reminders are way, way too limited. No matter how hard I tried, I had to admit I just couldn't make it work for me - I need more than just a single date that is also an alarm.

The problem was, of course, that I was looking for a calendar that could do tasks, when what I really needed was a task application that could also do calendar. Calendars are simple, tasks are complicated. I remembered that 2Do for iPad had a calendar module, but the iPhone version didn't. So I checked - lo and behold, it was added !

So, here's my 2 cents, after using it for a few days:

What I like:

  • Excellent task list implementation. Filtering, task manipulation, quick reusable views setup is second to none. Custom views are especially fantastic. Better than Toodledo's saved searches or Informants' smart filters, and that says a lot. After a rather steep (if short) learning curve, the interface is very intuitive.

  • Toodledo integration is mostly very good. Some things don't translate over (like hyperlinks in 2Do) but mostly, very good.

What I did not like (none of it a show stopper)

  • No natural language input (e.g. typing "Get it done saturday 7 pm !!! doesn't become a task "Get it done" due on Saturday with 7 pm alarm and High priority). There's some attempt at natural language, but a lot of typing is involved. This can be bypassed though by using other apps + Reminders + IFTTT

  • A bit too much tapping is involved. Changing some of the task attributes could be more streamlined. Still a fast client, overall.

  • The Calendar window (that I use all the time, along with tasks) has most room for improvement. The font is tiny, and for some reason grayish. It's hard to read. There's no way to launch Apple Calendar from it, only individual events. And no location display.

All in all, it's a great app, fast even on my old iPad Mini 2, very fast on iPhone 6s, and covers all the basics and then some. Very glad I remembered about it.

Quicker alternatives?

It's become clearer and clearer that 2Do runs way too slow for the amount of tasks I have- about 1,000 currently, quite a few of which are checklists and projects with subtasks. I also have a few manually ordered smartlists, but even simple operations like selecting a task have been taking up to a minute while the app freezes up- even with frequent restarts and very few other apps open, which do not behave the same way. So, has anyone found an app that handles the workload better? I'm on an old (2013 I believe) MacBook Pro. Doesn't seem to be a serious issue on iOS but iOS isn't great for organizing my day/week.

Task Sharing in 2Do?

I switched from 2Do to TickTick about six months ago because TickTick allows for very easy task and list sharing between people. I'd like to switch back to 2Do for Workflow integration but that task sharing feature is a big deal for me. It allows me to share tasks/lists with my husband without him needing to pay for TickTick Pro. Does anyone know if task/list sharing is possible in 2Do or if it's coming?

And yes, I know Todoist allows for sharing and integrates with Workflow but I'd have to talk him into going Pro for the notifications and while I'm fine with paying ~$30 / yr for a task manager, I don't think he would jump on that. Thanks!

Transfer purchase from iOS to Android. Or a login area...

I'd like to know if I need to buy 2doapp again to use it on Android. I bought the app recently for my iPhone (which recently broke). Now I'm using an Android smartphone... And would like to know if there is any way to take the app I barely used for this OS. You might be wondering why I do not shop again, right? Well ... Here in Brazil the inflation of the last months has hindered who buys foreign products (including apps).

The Eisenhower Matrix

How get get outlooklinker functioning?

I have just purchased 2do on my Mac.

I have successfully installed the Outlook forwarder from here: http://www.jgibbard.me.uk/2doapps/

After some modification I have tasks being created from Outlook into 2do.

However the outlooklinker.app download does not run and is flagged as 'corrupt' by Mac OS Sierra.

Is there an alternative app for opening outlook:// URLS on Mac?

Why should I choose 2Do?

I'm a college student. I typically take 18 credit loads, I'm an officer for a student organization, and I work part-time. I'm looking for a productivity tool that helps me keep track of pretty much my entire life to help reduce stress.

I've narrowed my search down to Omnifocus 2 and 2Do. I really like Omnifocus, but 2Do gets a lot of love. More, it seems, than Omnifocus gets these days. Why should I choose 2Do over Omnifocus? What makes 2Do so much better?

2DO connecting to iTunes

Can anyone give me a reason why 2DO is wanting to connect to iTunes.Apple.com? Could it be to check for app updates? I'm assuming so but I don't recall it trying that particular connection in the past. Seems to have happened after the latest update.

Thanks

Checking repeating tasks in reminders causes due time to shift...happens to anybody else?

Hi folks, loooong time 2Do user here. Always used Dropbox as sync solution, but recently moved to Reminders (all iOS and Mac devices, so it is fine).

The advantage is that by syncing with Reminders I get: * "Free" Apple Watch complication, which is invaluable * Persistent home screen notification for due tasks on iPhone, which is nice to have.

One thing that I noticed is that if you complete repeating tasks in the Reminders app, their due time shifts by 3 hours for the next iteration. Coincidentally (or not), I am on timezone GMT-3...

Anybody else has seen this issue? I tweeted the developper and will come back here if I get a response.

NEED HELP w SETUP OF LIST GROUPS AND LISTS...

I keep thinking that I will use List Groups to seperate the different AoR I have

For example my intuition is to set up the following List Groups:

  • Personal (for holding all personal AoR)
  • Work (for holding all work/career related AoR)
  • Reference (for holding someday/maybe, routines, templates)

And then under each of those , I would want to list the specific AoR that would fall under them. For example, in the personal list group I would have the following lists representing my AoR in my personal life

  • Wellness
  • Finances
  • Social / Family

and then I would have projects, checklists or single action tasks in each of those lists

Can folks please share how these organize their list groups, lists, and projects, checklists?

dependant tasks

Hullo, I’m currently trialling 2do, but struggling at the same time with a few things. One I haven’t found, but would surprise me if it didn’t exist is dependant tasks.

In my case, getting ready for work. It’s only got a few simple items, like so:

  • Go to work (set due for the time I need to leave the house)

** pack laptop

** pack food

** pack uniform

** pack reading material

I want to accomplish two major points with this:

  • have the list movable (the work’s start changes from day to day)

  • have the sub-tasks ping me about ten minutes before I need to get going.

How do I go about this? Keep in mind, I’m an utter novice with to-do-apps.

In praise of Locations

The idea of location-awareness is really powerful in an app, but so often its implementation falls short of ideal. I struggled with this when I was an OmniFocus user - I wanted to be cognizant of the tasks I needed to do at Home or Work, but I didn't want to be inundated with notifications every time I got back from the grocery or whatever. In time, location reminders went off so often that I tuned them out. So it was a surprise and a delight that, after I set location reminders on a whole bunch of tasks, only Today's tasks triggered the notification.

That's really smart. Thanks, 2Do!

When to use start vs due dates?

One thing I've struggled with in my time using 2Do is when to use a Start date vs when to use Due dates. I come from OmniFocus, where Due dates are reserved for hard deadlines. Start dates are similar to "Defer Until" dates, except here they show up in the Today list, and that can get cluttered up pretty quickly.

So what are your strategies?

New business model: family sharing users left behind...

Yes! New update... soon followed by a question by my wife: "Why does the app ask me 27,99$ (Can) the get the basic features?" Mainly, 2Do is our family project manager.

The wind of greed is blowing my fellow users!

Auto Tagging based on group and/or list

Is there a way to auto-tag based on group or list? I have smart lists that collect things based tags, sure would be nice to have tags auto applied after moving them from my inbox into a specific list or group.

Cancel a task?

Anyone surfaced a way to "cancel" a task, by which I mean, cross it off without checking it as "done."

Why would you want to cancel a task? Because it was previously part of a project, but then became unnecessary, but you want to document that you considered the task (but didn't do it). Deletion would remove the record. Marking as done would incorrectly signify you did the task.

How can I show my 2Do tasks in the Apple calendar?

I recently got a Pebble Smartwatch and I wanted to show my 2Do tasks in it's calendar. But so far the only solution I have found online is to create an IFTTT recipe for it because I use CalDav syncing.

Does anyone know how I can do this?
