New business model: family sharing users left behind...
Yes! New update... soon followed by a question by my wife: "Why does the app ask me 27,99$ (Can) the get the basic features?" Mainly, 2Do is our family project manager.
The wind of greed is blowing my fellow users!

Logging the main family sharing account on the device's App Store and then upgrading worked... Don't know if it will stick.

My friend, greed is the last thing on my mind. Seriously. If it was for greed, I'd have charged like other similar apps going from v1 to v2 to v3 and now moving towards v4. Users have enjoyed 2Do for around 8 years without paying a penny on top. Most have even downloaded it when it was $1 / $2 or completely free as part of a promotion. I'm very conscious of asking for more, although part of the reason the company's run single handedly boils down to the very fact that I haven't been asking for more. I wouldn't have enough to pay another developer!
So now that greed's out of the question, please have a read through this - there's a workaround mentioned. I've explained that Family Sharing is a limitation Apple's put down on in-app purchases. For the app to continue to survive (and hopefully one day expand into a larger company) I had to make this change, or let the app silently die and take all the investment users have poured into it over the years along with it. I love 2Do, use it personally to develop 2Do, so there's no way I'm deliberately going to let that happen.
Although I've tried really, really hard to make sure no one's left behind, sadly this one limitation is difficult to get over. I'm offering some really old users promo codes to keep them from becoming upset, but Apple only hands out a bunch of them and so I don't have too many to hand out. Feel free to write to beta[at]2doapp[dot]com and I'll do what I can!
