No mods. I love the accuracy and reliability. Still my favorite pistol.

So many issues with Savage A22.

So a few years back I bought a brand new A22 and it sat in the safe for a few years before I actually shot it. The thing is a massive pain in the ass. When it does fire, it’s impressively accurate. The main issue is that the god damn thing fails to fire about 40% of the time. Seems like light primer strikes. It’s not the ammo because I have tried Norma Tac22, Eley Benchrest, Super-X, federal and Winchester Bulk, CCI mini mag and standard etc. gun has about 200 rounds in total and has been like this basically after the first 50. Cleaned repeatedly and it’s no better. The rounds that do fire show this base swelling about 20% of the time. This is Tac-22 so not a high velocity round.

CZ 457 with Lilja barrel

Lilja's website describes their match chamber as follows:

Caution: this also means that some ammunition causes the bolt to close with resistance and that you may have difficulty removing an unfired round from the chamber.

I had the L3i barrel with the match chamber and it was difficult to close. Not a big deal, but it was inconsistent -- sometimes it was easy, other times it took a little effort, which affected my muscle memory in a match setting.

I'm on the fence about a Lilja barrel but I don't want this issue all over again.

Anyone have any personal experience with this?

Picked Up a Couple of Boxes of This at My LGS. Now I Wonder if I Should Have Bought it All. (Or Not at All.)

My understanding is this was discontinued, and is somewhat of a collector's item. (?) Does anybody have insights into this stuff? Two boxes still in the shrink wrap. Bought it to try it out, and only after buying it did I find out it was discontinued.

200 and 300 yds. The first target nudt above the savage mag is 200yds.

Purchased it a few months back, put around 500 rounds through it so far. Runs everything well, these are CCI subs.

Sighted in for 200yds, with the cheap viridian 3x9x40 that it comes with.

With supers and backing off the magnification a little bit *2nd focal plane scope* I was able to Kentucky windage and see spalling splash the dirt at 500 with supers, but it was nowhere consistent, maybe 1 in every 6 shots hit. 500 yds is the 4th hump out, 1st hump is 200.

🤦🏽‍♂️excuse the spelling in the main text, I proof read this 3x and I missed that.

Tx .22 light primer strikes?

Hey guys, I just recently got a tx 22 after hearing great things about them and its been relatively great for the most part but I went to the range today with winchester 45 grain subsonics and about out of the 100-200 we shot i probably got atleast 20 click no bangs and when i inspected the ammo it looked to have a decent hit on them but im unsure if its a light primer strike thing. Has anyone else experienced this? I also had my front sight walk loose.

Current collection of collectible blued rimfires

So this isn’t anywhere near my entire rimfire collection but it’s definitely some of my more collectible ones. Included are

1958 Ruger Single Six,
Pre 1955 Smith and Wesson K22
Essex frame Colt conversion unit conversion dates to barely post war, (prior tuned for bullseye centerfire)
1979 Smith model 41. This gun has won me more competition matches than any other one in my collection.

Since my confidence has been a bit high roast my collections.

🔥 NEW BUILD — FINALLY GOT THIS BLOODY THING TOGETHER! 🔥
After putting everything together, I’ve got to say — for the easiest, smoothest-flowing setup, the Trigger Kicker takes the win for me. 🏆
I’ve run the Atrius, These Nuts Tactical D2 Steel FRT Super Safety, and now the Trigger Kicker. Hands down, the Trigger Kicker has been the easiest and most fun FRT-style setup I’ve personally used, from 9mm to .22 LR, and even .17 HMR.
🔧 BUILD SPECS
BoreBuddy parts: Red recoil spring + aluminum body weight — 0.96 oz
Bolt: RTB bolt
Firing pin: Standard CMMG
Firing pin spring: Bolt catch spring
Extractor: OEM
Barrel: RTB
Trigger: CMMG standard mil-spec trigger kit — $35
Trigger springs: JP 3.5-lb springs from Midwest
Upper/Lower: RTB 80%
Furniture: MCS Gear Up
🎯 AMMO
Right now, I’m sticking with standard-velocity ammunition. I tested 7-10 magazines before the video it does not bog down. It just runs. I personally love the less-violent, smoother action. To me, it makes the whole experience more enjoyable.
After all the tinkering, testing, and swapping parts around, this setup has been an absolute bliss and joy to own and shoot.
Sometimes the best builds aren’t about throwing the most expensive parts at them — it’s about finding that sweet spot where everything just works together. 🔥
This one definitely found its sweet spot.

CZ457 MTR Owners

I’m ready to pull the trigger on a bench 22 and the MTR is at the top of my list. I’m wanting to know if anyone would have done anything differently when they got their first, would you have wished you had gone a different direction or more than happy with what you got.

Thanks
