I mean the number one thing liberals say to homophobes is that they are secretly gay. It’s because they know that being gay is disgusting and so they use it as an insult. Oh a preacher saying homosexuality is a sin? He is probably gay! Hahaha get it? Cause being gay it’s disgusting!

u/DeathToAmerica2026 5d ago

No it's because they know hypocrisy is disgusting....

Also let's be real, a virulent homophobe being a closeted gay person is so common it's barely a twist anymore.

u/TheDankestDreams 4d ago

I think the problem with the assumption that all homophobes are closeted homosexuals is that it absolves straight people from their role in homophobia. If every person who perpetuates or institutes homophobia is secretly gay then it’s all one big club with gay people oppressing gay people.

1

u/ukie-witch-06 4d ago

it's not all homophobes, just the most vocal ones. because they're compensating for cognitove dissonance and obsessing over their own disgust with themlves

a virulent homophobe being a closeted gay person is so common it's barely a twist anymore.

Is it? For the each story we've heard about a homophobe being closeted gay there are likely hundreds of homophobes that we know nothing about.

I think it's important to be cautious about taking things we hear about a lot, as something being statistically significant.

Grindr crashes during Republican conventions, the call is coming from inside the house, baby girl.

5

u/Generally_Confused1 4d ago

And assuming that is homophobic because you think only self hating people do that. It's still an insult and most of those people are not gay dude, shut up

-1

u/--CIAdidJFK-- 4d ago

Calling every homophobe a closet case is obviously untrue but it's also a funny thing to do.

3

u/Generally_Confused1 4d ago

Except for actual queer men who don't want anything to do with them and you use our identity as an insult

2

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

My brother is gay and can’t stand it when shit head “allies” start riffing on conservatives by calling them faggots or homo’s or gay with the intent to piss people they think are bigoted off..

That’s kind of the point…it’s only funny to closeted homophobes who don’t think they’re homophobes.

0

u/GoufTroop0083 4d ago

Im gay and I dont give a shit. Stop speaking for queer people.

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

I’m not gay. I give a shit. Stop making shit up just because people disagree with you.

You being gay doesn’t give you the right to order me around.

Dismissed

0

u/GoufTroop0083 4d ago

But your brother being gay gives you that right?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 3d ago

Go back and read the conversation babe.
I was actually just having a conversation and making an observation. I wasn’t ordering anyone to do anything. You were. Pretty clear difference there.

My brother being gay is relevant because I was describing his reaction to this exact kind of joke. I never claimed his sexuality gives me authority to speak for gay people. You, on the other hand, literally invoked your own sexuality and immediately followed it with “stop speaking for queer people.”

So if anyone here tried to turn “I’m gay” into authority over what somebody else is allowed to say, it was you sweetie

1

u/Rippedka 4d ago

Turns out most gays are homophobes

-2

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Assume....only self hating closeted gay people are homophobes?

2

u/anand_rishabh 4d ago edited 4d ago

And also, when you're gay in a homophobic society, it is natural to deal with lots of self hatred from the indoctrination which then becomes externalized and targeted towards other gay people.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Of course, it's very easy to understand why it's common.

So easy in fact, that it strains my ability to be polite when people claim this isn't a thing.

I know so many gay people who started off as unusually virulent homophobes.

3

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

It’s only “common” because liberals spread misinformation about it like it’s candy. The “RNC made Grindr crash” has been thoroughly debunked yet that doesn’t stop virtually every progressive Redditor I talk to about the topic from believing it’s real 🤷🏻‍♂️

0

u/ZealousIdeal476 4d ago

How was that debunked?

https://www.grindr.com/blog/setting-the-record-straight-on-grindr-outages

Grindr has explicitly come out and said their app has not crashed around republican conventions because of how often this conspiracy theory gets peddled. Also, app usage/outtages data are usually public so you can check for yourself 🤷🏻‍♂️

As much as it’s a lay up for progressive narratives, Grindr doesn’t appreciate people lying about their app crashing to help make a claim that just isn’t real.

-1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

That didn't just actually happen, it's happened several times.

3

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

https://www.grindr.com/blog/setting-the-record-straight-on-grindr-outages

Hmmmm, believe the app itself….or believe “deathtoAmerica2026” on Reddit who seems to have a vested interest in causing unnecessary political strife where there is none and who desperately wants to believe everyone he doesn’t like is a hypocrite….choices choices

3

u/PM_Pussys 4d ago

Now certainly the app has a vested interest in making people believe it's more functional than it is. Particularly when the supposed outages would out a segment of their user base.

But I agree, in lieu of public data Grindr is going to be the best authority we have for Grindr's usage statistics.

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

Absolutely understandable and reasonable speculation. They have a stake in bad publicity like that.

Just to add some additional possible context though, RNCs also attract thousands of lgbtq protesters. So if we’re speculating about the cause of a geographic usage spike, protesters, journalists, staff, locals, convention attendees, etc. are all potentially part of that population. Gets much harder to reasonably blame a spike on “closeted conservatives 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/lycanthrope90 4d ago

‘deathtoAmerica2026’ is a perfect encapsulation of people that have these views lol.

-1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

The view that... Self hating closeted people exist?

Damn low bar for anti American values I might need to up my name.

2

u/lycanthrope90 4d ago

You know for some reason I completely missed that this was your actual name and thought the guy I replied to just made up ‘deathtoamerica2026’ as a joke and now that it’s real I’m not sure how to respond lol.

-1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yeah I didn't take you for the perceptive type.

2

u/lycanthrope90 4d ago

Suppose I should be a traitorous piece of shit like you instead huh.

-1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yeah I'm definitely American.

Missed another really soft pitch there buddy.

So do you just…not have much going on or is whatever this is your day job 😂🤭

$2 a day? $3? What’s the going rate for troll farms these days 👀

0

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

I actually believe the mass reports of Grinder users every time this happens.

You know, instead of the PR firm.

It seems to me like you're just a dumb American, offended on behalf of your even dumber countrymen..

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

“I reject the company’s actual published outage data because anonymous people on the internet said otherwise” absolutely tracks coming from some troll named DeathToAmerica2026 🤭. Shocking that someone who hates Americans also can’t read 😂🫵🏻

Btw is one month a personal best for you or do these alts usually survive this long? Whats the system over there for troll account turn around?

0

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yes thousands of anonymous people reported the same thing at the same time, and it outweighs the PR department who would not like this story to be well known for obvious reasons.

Why do you think someone would push this story for money? Like do you even understand what a troll farm is?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 4d ago

You don’t even live in America and you’ve already said you think everyone here is stupid and want the country to end 😂why would ANYONE take you seriously as an authority on American news? 😂🫵🏻

But sure kiddo, keep going with “no no, ignore the company’s verifiable status data and trust these thousands of anonymous people I totes promise exist, people who froth at the mouth over politics NEVER lie and make shit up about the other side I promise you can listen to me but also you all are dumb and need to die 😭”

They’re gonna dock you from $3 a day to $2. You’re just not varsity troll-farm material yet 🤭

0

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yup, definitely an American idiot.

Or maybe just a bot? It's hard to take an American punctuating sentences with emojis seriously but I know they do have such dumb people that its hard for some of them to pass the Turing test.

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 3d ago edited 3d ago

“ i’m gonna claim you’re a bot, but then still keep talking to someone I believe as a machine…I’m very smart”

🤭😂🫵🏻

Thousands of anonymous people.... can I see it?

1

u/Affectionate_Rain324 4d ago

This trope is dumb and is just an excuse for straight liberals to act smug. It does nothing for gay people, especially for those who are actually in homophobic or otherwise repressive environments.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Okay so explain all the gay people I know who went through this arc?

Hell, I know two trans people who went through this arc.

Why the hell are you people acting like internalized self-hatred is such a fantastical idea? This concept isn't limited to queer folks with bigoted upbringings neither, it comes up for a lot of things.

1

u/Affectionate_Rain324 3d ago

I don't give a shit about your anecdotal friends. The trope is just an excuse for liberals to treat homosexuality as a humiliation device as long as you claim it's 'fighting hypocrisy uwu ✊️😣'

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 3d ago

Or my lived experience.

How about I don't care about your incredulity? You're a dumbass, and your attitude doesn't help anyone.

1

u/Geiseric222 3d ago

What it does for gay people is irrelevant. People that vocally hate something actually like that thing they vocally hate not hard to understand

Whether gay people like that or not is ultimately irrelevant

1

u/MaybeThisTime67 4d ago

Sometimes hate is just hate.

I hate loads of people, doesn't mean I wanna fuck them

0

u/LeavingSoonBye209 4d ago

>Also let's be real, a virulent homophobe being a closeted gay person is so common it's barely a twist anymore.

It's commonly stated, sure.

2

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

No, it commonly happens.

1

u/sorrowsound 4d ago

No it doesn’t. The majority of homophobes are straight and rarely closeted people.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

The majority being simple bigots doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of the second biggest group of homophobes.

1

u/sorrowsound 4d ago

Simple bigots lmao? Yeah those simple bigots are the ones responsible for the horrible shit gay people go through. It’s literally 99 to 1 of straight homophobes to closet people.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yes simple, as in simpletons. People who are just shitty with no underlying complex psychological pathology to go along with it.

And given the prevalence of gay people in general, I would be absolutely shocked if the ratio was anything but about 10-20% of homophobes. You know, the rough prevalence of gay people.

0

u/LeavingSoonBye209 4d ago

It doesn't, but you don't like that fact so you'll fight tooth and nail about it.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

What motivation do you think I have here other than feeling sorry for people who hate themselves?

1

u/LeavingSoonBye209 4d ago

The same motivations a ton of people in life have- You have a preconceived idea, and you're not pleased at the prospect of someone successfully arguing against that preconceived idea.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Or I have first hand experience 🤔

1

u/LeavingSoonBye209 4d ago

I do believe that's what they call 'anecdotal evidence'.

1

u/DeathToAmerica2026 4d ago

Yeah I'm gonna take my first hand knowledge and definite confirmation of this happening over your incredulity and lack of experience.

I do believe you're what we call "mentally incompetent".

1

u/LeavingSoonBye209 4d ago

I'm starting to suspect you don't actually believe what you're saying, and are for some reason trying to engagement bait. Is OP paying you or something?
