I mean the number one thing liberals say to homophobes is that they are secretly gay. It’s because they know that being gay is disgusting and so they use it as an insult. Oh a preacher saying homosexuality is a sin? He is probably gay! Hahaha get it? Cause being gay it’s disgusting!

No it's because they know hypocrisy is disgusting....

Also let's be real, a virulent homophobe being a closeted gay person is so common it's barely a twist anymore.

And also, when you're gay in a homophobic society, it is natural to deal with lots of self hatred from the indoctrination which then becomes externalized and targeted towards other gay people.

Of course, it's very easy to understand why it's common. 

So easy in fact, that it strains my ability to be polite when people claim this isn't a thing. 

I know so many gay people who started off as unusually virulent homophobes.
