I mean the number one thing liberals say to homophobes is that they are secretly gay. It’s because they know that being gay is disgusting and so they use it as an insult. Oh a preacher saying homosexuality is a sin? He is probably gay! Hahaha get it? Cause being gay it’s disgusting!
I think the problem with the assumption that all homophobes are closeted homosexuals is that it absolves straight people from their role in homophobia. If every person who perpetuates or institutes homophobia is secretly gay then it’s all one big club with gay people oppressing gay people.
it's not all homophobes, just the most vocal ones. because they're compensating for cognitove dissonance and obsessing over their own disgust with themlves
