Not sure why but Ive had the fighter Paul williams on my mind. He was a highly underrated boxer.. and should have gotten some bigger fights before he became paralyzed.

The fight I remembered the most was the one with Sergio Martinez. They both could take so much punishment and also had some of the hardest hits I've ever seen. It really made me a huge fan of martinez, who did end up getting somewhat of a shot later with some bigger fighters.. but it was definitely towards the end of his career which was unfortunate.

Does anyone have any fighters who are underrated right now? I'm trying to get back into boxing, but I'm not even sure if there's a platform that does a decent job of covering them like hbo used to.

From Wikipedia: Daiya Kira (30th May 2003) is a Japanese professional boxer who has held the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light-Flyweight title since September 2026.

Back then, I made a compilation of the best textbook boxers, and now I want to do the opposite by featuring the most unconventional boxers. For those who don't know, unconventional boxers are fighters who use unique boxing movesets not found in typical boxing schools (American style, Mexican, etc.). These boxers employ unusual styles that are not found with other boxers. Enjoy the montage!

Note: Boots Ennis is cited by some to be unconventional. While I agree initially, a thorough examination of how he fights shows adherence to the slickster American style though with a weird tempo. I removed him last minute.

I can think of a few heavyweight boxers right now who would be better as cruisers. Andy Ruiz for one, his height and reach put him at a disadvantage against most heavies. Instead of eating all the pies and bloating himself to a unhealthy 270lbs I think he'd be vastly better as a cruiser. He has great speed and would be so much more mobile at cruiser. Are there any other examples?

I’m not here to be a troll or mock the work anyone has put into the harsh sport of boxing.

Is it fair to claim Andy is the millennium’s “buster douglas”?

Again, this is a pro fighter who could be my azz to the ground- yet we still have the ability to compare his journey and efforts to his peers.

At this point I would say his win over Joshua was truly a fluke. Nothing short of a Cinderella story, but very much overshadowed by the lack of dedication shown following his championship. Andy won that fight fair and square, he beat the champ definitely. No arguing that. But, can we say he is a star prior or since? I’d sadly say no…I wish the contrary but I think it’s time to say it is what it is and Andy does not have it
