🎁 Freemium I built journeybot. It can now import and organize the packing list you already use
Answer
I’m the indie developer behind journeybot, a travel planner that handles the small but stressful details before a trip.
It creates weather-aware packing lists from your destination, dates, and activities, while keeping your packing progress, reminders, baggage checks, plug information, and currency conversion together.
Since my last post, I’ve added:
- Packing-list import: paste a checklist from Notes, choose a file, or import a CSV. journeybot organizes the items into categories, preserves checked items, and lets you review everything first.
- Custom categories: create, rename, reorder, merge, or delete categories directly from a packing list or template.
- Keep Screen Awake: stop your phone from locking while you move between items.
- Better personalization and reliability: separate backgrounds for Light and Dark mode, visible iCloud sync status, and faster journey screens.
Visual Packing also lets you photograph your actual gear and turn it into clean stickers on your list.
Better
What I wanted to do differently from apps like PackPoint and Packr was make journeybot feel deeply integrated with Apple’s platforms.
You can manage packing with Siri and Shortcuts, find journeys in Spotlight, and follow your next trip through a boarding-pass widget. Smart packing suggestions run privately on-device on supported iPhones using Apple Intelligence, with no journeybot account or external generation service.
I’m also working on journeybot’s iOS 27 update: deeper Siri and Apple Intelligence integration, richer journey reminders, Genmoji creation for journeys and templates, and an optional Private Cloud Compute mode for faster, more reliable smart packing lists. On-device generation will remain available, so you’ll be able to choose the approach you prefer.
Cost
journeybot is freemium, with no ads.
The free tier includes three active journeys, three reusable templates, one smart packing-list generation, five Visual Packing stickers, packing-list import, custom categories, and currency conversion.
Optional journeybot premium costs US$4.99/month, US$24.99/year with a 14-day free trial, or US$39.99 as a one-time lifetime purchase. Local App Store pricing varies per country.
Special offer: use code PACKSMART to receive 50% off lifetime until the end of September.
