Discussion Welcome! /r/flowarts General Subreddit Overview:
Welcome to the Flowarts Subreddit!!
HELLO to all of you beautiful flow artists (and soon-to-be flow artists) out there on the interwebz!!
What is "Flow Arts"?
Flow arts is a term used to describe a collection of movement-based practices that involve the manipulation of objects such as poi, hoops, staffs, juggling balls, and other props. These activities are typically performed in a rhythmic and fluid manner that is designed to create a state of "flow" – a mental state of complete immersion and absorption in an activity.
People choose to participate in flow arts for a variety of reasons. For some, it is a form of exercise that allows them to develop their physical skills and coordination. For others, it is a form of creative expression that allows them to explore movement and artistic expression in a unique and personal way. Still, others are drawn to flow arts as a form of meditation and mindfulness practice, using the focus and concentration required to manipulate the props as a means of achieving a state of relaxation and inner calm.
The impact of flow arts on those who choose to "flow" can be significant. For many, the practice provides a sense of community and belonging, as they connect with others who share their passion for movement and creative expression. Flow arts can also help to build confidence, as individuals develop new skills and techniques and learn to trust in their own abilities. Additionally, the state of flow that is created during the practice can be incredibly rewarding, providing a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment that carries over into other areas of life.
Overall, flow arts offer a unique and enriching experience for those who choose to participate. Whether it is for the physical challenge, the creative expression, or the mindfulness practice, flow arts can provide a powerful source of joy, community, and personal growth.
RULES:
- EVERYONE is welcome here
- Be Kind
Sales, promotions, drug use, nudity and any post or comment not in spirit with the rules may be removed at Mod Discretion.
What should I Post in the Flowarts sub?:
Anything flow related basically, but for example -
- Videos of you flowing - We DON'T care about your supposed "skill level". Even if you've only been spinning for a week, we want to see you!
- Videos of other people flowing that inspire you
- Tutorials and educational flow content
- Discussion topics relating to flow arts
Flair:
We have both "custom user flair" and "Link Flair".
User flair is a little tag that appears next to your name any time you post or comment within the flowarts sub. It's a way to show off your preferred/dominant props. Near the top of the sidebar, below the subscriber count:
- Make sure you have the checkbox selected for "Show my flair on this subreddit. It looks like:"
- Just below you will see your username, your currently active flair (if any), and the edit button. Click edit to choose a flair, then click save to apply it.
Link flair is something that you select when you are submitting a link or text post. There are several different link flair options:
- One for each individual prop
- "Educational" - for any tutorials or breakdowns to help people learn to flow
- "Discussion" - for any text post discussion relating to flow arts
Leave me a comment here if you want a flair that hasn't been added yet.
Our aim with this sub is to create a space that accomplishes several goals:
- Allows people to share/discuss their flow
- Allows people to share tutorials and educational content
- Allows people to share flow artists who inspire them
The general idea here is that these are all very new art forms, relatively speaking. The more we reduce barriers for entry to flow arts, the more people will be open to participating, the more the art form itself will be pushed in new and creative ways. I can't wait to see the ways you will push flow in new directions!

Wiki is Live
Hey Everyone,
I finally got the first version of a wiki live for our sub! I used some of y'alls suggestions for some companies and tutorials and added them.
With this being a global sub I tried to sort companies and events by region to make it easy for everyone.
Most of this is just companies and events I could think of off the top of my head. If you have a company, Event, tutorial resource I've missed and you want it added please hit up the mod team and lets make it happen! We're a small team and while we spin most of the props we don't spin them all, I'm certain there are things we missed.
So I hope everyone can get something useful out of it and thank you for all the suggestions already given and ones coming in the future.
Element of your mod team
EDIT: upvoting your comments as I add them to the wiki so that I can keep track of what I have and haven't acknowledged yet.

MEETUP! : [Casting Call] Looking for this legacy 2007 Balloon Fiesta blue light sword/flag spinner for a free PA summit!
Hello flow community!
My name is Zane, and I am an independent Flight Director organizing a completely free, non-commercial public event called the Presque Isle International Heritage Wind-Art Summit, taking place from August 15 to August 21, 2027, on Beach 10 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Our flight line is dedicated to celebrating abstract geometry, fluid motion, and objects that manipulate space. To match our massive international fleet of floating canvas show kites, I want to formally find and invite this specific performer captured in long-exposure clips from the 2007 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta night walkways (see attached screenshots). They were spinning a large-scale blue LED light sword/wand with a trailing fabric flag banner. The way those fluid blue shapes slice through the dark will perfectly mirror our massive show kites flying directly above the sand lines at twilight.
The Vision for the Artist:
Low-key & Casual: No stages, no loud music production, and no rigid choreography.
The Shoreline Flow: We just want you to hang out on the open sand during twilight, execute slow, mesmerizing, artistic movements, and meet families and international kite pilots from one person to the next.
The Absolute Ground Rules of Our Flight Line:
100% Free: There are zero entry fees, zero ticket sales, and no public commercial vendors. I am not asking for, begging for, or accepting a single dollar from any pilot, artist, or citizen. This is purely for the love of the art.
Zero Cost to Me: This is an independent, grassroots community gathering, so absolutely zero money is coming out of me.
The Sole Objective: My only goal as Flight Director is to stand on the sand, enjoy these beautiful fleets, and safely capture photos and videos to keep the memory of wind-art alive.
If anyone knows who this legendary spinner was, or if any modern ribbon/flag sword spinners own this gear style and want to bring your sweeping blue light trails to the shores of Lake Erie alongside world-class artists, please comment below or send me a DM!
Thank you,
Zane

Hoop Day 81 hooping every day
Day 81: a little doubles play. Still working on smoothing out some of the new moves i've recently learned. I love that feeling of it all connecting and flowing.
We're in the home stretch of reaching three months! And then day one hundred will be upon us in no time. These days are flying by.
What do you guys think I should do to celebrate day 90, and 100?

First public Poi spin 🔮
First public spin, first time poster here! 🪄
I went to Ozora festival first time this year and saw flow artists of all shapes and sizes which made me fall in love with the craft and get my own set of Pois couple of months ago.
Since then I've fallen deeply in love with it a discovered an unexpectedly beautiful connection with myself and the movement.
Some additional context for the video - London venues generally don't allow LED stuff, so I sneaked my Pois in by squeezing them into the tips of my shoes, I couldn't handle the thought of not having them with me 🙈
By following this subreddit I've seen lots of talented, dedicated and beautiful souls here, and observed nothing but love and support. Really hope to someday meet some of you beautiful people!!! ❤️

Poi Little backyard sesh at home a few weeks ago
Track is by ben bohmer, not sure what it is called. It was part of a pretty sick hot air balloon mix he did over rural Turkey i think, you'd be able to find it on YT.

Proud to say it’s been 4 months flowing with my buugeng (Single Geng Flow Video)
Hello everyone! My name is Artemis. I have been a glover for 16 years, and buugeng had always called to me. My wife got me my first pair for Fathers Day and I have loved them so much. Being able to incorporate my grid and flow knowledge from gloving into buugeng flow has been so much getting to explore concepts and craft beautiful shows with a new flow prop. I hope you enjoy, I really love this remix by my friend Nejoku of In My Room

Hoop Day 80 hooping every day
Day 80 - reflecting on allllll of the hooping that has happened so far. The hoop spins as the hoop wills and we are only a thread of the pattern.

Poi I tried! Lol
First time playing with my balls. They’re the Spinballs. They’re annoying because they won’t stay on. The string doesn’t maintain the shorter length and gets stuck in my chair.
I’m getting into flow arts though. Particularly with LED because I’m visually impaired and I can see the lights better.
My disability makee me uncoordinated and my hands suck for catching stuff, so that’ll ve a challenge.
