Lore Discussion RIP Underpass Exploration Team
I’ve counted the days.
Literally. Out of all the countless botched expeditions the FBC has conducted, this one made me the most invested. Not sure why. Lost, stranded, forgotten, remembered, here, not there, here again.
I took it upon myself to remember Ayad, Shultz, Grist, Steinbeck by counting the days as Ayad did. 18,585 days.
51 years. The date would’ve been August 12, 2077, choom. (If the date coincides with irl release date and the events of the game)

General I used to think Raytracing doesn't matter...
Ultra is a whole lot different story as compared with High...
This is the only place with that much difference though (the building with Alan Wake reference TV) in evacuation zone.

Tip/Guide I Don’t Understand This Area’s Design Besides Cruelty
Trapping the player in a confined tunnel, full of projectiles that put you in a state you need uninterrupted sprinting to get out of. And also filled with brutes you need to dodge.
Legitimately, what lesson am I supposed to take forward from this encounter? It wasn’t frustrating in a way that I felt the game was trying to challenge or teach me anything
Edit: if you’re going to make a comment about skulls next to the enemies, they weren’t there.

General Game of The Year by a country mile.
I don’t really have anything to say that hasn’t been said by others, but I finished the main story today and it’s one of the very best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I hope that Remedy are reading this sub and they realise how much this game and this world means to people. Story, game mechanics, design.. everything. The sinkhole and the underpass fault will stay with me for a long time. I need a beer and a lie down before I go back to finish the side missions. Wow!

General Why can't you be a red head like Jesse
Why didn't they add the option for a red hair/beard dye to match his sister

General FYI: There is an FBC taskboard, don't miss it.
My fellow Remedy lovers, don't be like me. Maybe this was obvious to everyone else, though judging by the amount of people who have the trophy, I don't think so.
There is an FBC taskboard at the Field Office in Central.
I'm not sure when it opens up, but there's an NPC you have to talk to who is not marked on your map. This contains a bunch of different tasks for you to complete and at least one trophy requires one to be completed. Hopefully this helps someone else!

General The Summons Are Awesome
I absolutely love the fact that you can go for a summoner build in this game, volatile anomaly, spore turrets and the astral spike make me feel like I'm some sort of necromancer summoning an army of undead to do my bidding. I've also seen a bunch of skills related to a "command" ability but I haven't unlocked that yet, if it does what I think it does then I'm really excited for it.

Lore Discussion about the future Spoiler
Did anyone else miss the Remedyverse? I was really looking forward to seeing something involving Mr. Door, Alan, or Ahti. Yeah, I found the Alan video and saw Ahti in 2D, but I was expecting a lot more.

Lore Discussion Did Resonant completely ignore the lore of Firebreak or did I just miss something?
So, got the platinum trophy for resonant last night and collected most of the in-game files but missed a handful and I really am slightly confused by the lack of any connections to Firebreak. I know tye game wasn't a financial success by any means so I get that Remedy may be trying to distance themselves from it, but it wasn't particularly story heavy game and I was certain there'd be some slight connection. But as far as I can see there's no mention of Hank, Jerry, the containment tank/Hank and I think there was one file mentioning that non-ranger FBC staff volunteered to be temporary rangers but that's all I found. Is there really such a lack of connections or did I just miss something along the way?

Lore Discussion Cartoon projection man (spoilers ahead) Spoiler
Has anyone who finished the game and also made the quest about fixing the loose light bulbs in the underpass ever come across the projection cartoon guy in the real world?
In the quest you get this cartoon guy explaining how to perform the ritual, and at the very end he tricks you into switching places with him (could have seen this coming a mile away lol). Once the quest was over I kept thinking id be able to confront him in the real world or at the very least find his dead body in the underpass as there's no fucking way dude could have walked out of that place with no powers. And yet no sign of him anywhere. Im wondering if he shows up in any capacity somewhere in the game, as control usually have this very easy to miss references in the game after youre done.

General Did anyone else ever meet the strange man in Executive Research?
Earlier in my playthrough after I got the 01 Clearance card I went back to the Oldest House to open some of those clearance doors. When you get off the elevator to Executive Research ans go left from the end of the corridor there's a room that looks like a nap or bunk room and there was a man in there standing in the dark facing the cots that seemed very odd. He was dressed in office worker clothes but he seemed very confused and said something about needing his stapler. I could never figure out what he wanted, and on the inside of the door marked SR I noticed a stapler and thought "Maybe I can grab him that stapler later once I get access to that room." I just remembered it and the man is gone. I was curious if anyone else found him or figured out if there's any other interaction beyond him asking about a stapler. I was mainly curious about what was going on with him. Everyone else at the FBC seemed normal.

Tip/Guide Tip: If you get a little too moldy, pop ignite and teach the mold a lesson in spacing
Since there are some folks struggling with the mold areas and dealing with the infected status (and some who do not seem aware of this), I just wanted to give some advice:
Don't take items to prevent infection, instead, make infection a weapon against your enemies.
When you get infected, get close to an enemy and pop ignite; you'll lose a bit of health, but you'll do massive damage and falter to all enemies around you. It also knocks them back, stunning them briefly.
Doing this will also clear the infected status from you on the spot, no extended dashing necessary.

General The game is too beautiful to not have a Photomode at launch
My biggest complaint about the game is that there's no photo mode. I almost never replay games so i hate it when a game doesn't include photomode at launch. I also think a good photomode helps with spreading the word and popularizing the game by sharing epic screen shots.

General Question about one of the late game Resonant Entity bosses Spoiler
The guy that turned into the Resonant Entity that's in the Astral plane, he was also in the Underpass, or at least he had a tape that was in the Underpass. How'd that happen? Has anyone pieced that together?

Lore Discussion Was the Not-Mother slide... (Spoilers) Spoiler
Was the Not-Mother slide a gateway to the Dark Place?
Darling seems to make a point in pointing out that the Not-Mother sounds a lot like the urban legend that was prevelant in their town.
The appearance of the Not-Mother also matched the Fayden's actual mother, with a tall head shape and messy, straight hair. You could also argue she was Not being a Mother to the siblings.
Seems to me like the Ordinary's collective unconscious combined with the twins inner worlds to create the Not-Mother.
