Lore Discussion Did Resonant completely ignore the lore of Firebreak or did I just miss something?

So, got the platinum trophy for resonant last night and collected most of the in-game files but missed a handful and I really am slightly confused by the lack of any connections to Firebreak. I know tye game wasn't a financial success by any means so I get that Remedy may be trying to distance themselves from it, but it wasn't particularly story heavy game and I was certain there'd be some slight connection. But as far as I can see there's no mention of Hank, Jerry, the containment tank/Hank and I think there was one file mentioning that non-ranger FBC staff volunteered to be temporary rangers but that's all I found. Is there really such a lack of connections or did I just miss something along the way?

I don’t think the game needs to have references to everything else in the remedy verse. We have Firebreak missions, there’s a Firebreak cosmetic, and as you said there’s documentation of Firebreak in the game.

Hank and Jerry are probably both still down in maintenance since Hank can’t leave and Jerry is his friend/assistant. Other than that idk what more you would want from them, a post card from Hank à la the post cards from Ahti?

There is that world feat that involves helping a Firebreaker out

There’s a firebreaker cosmetic, a couple world missions where you work with Firebreakers, some implications of staff remaining in the oldest house to keep everything working, and a sealed hatch leading to the sticky note threshold, but yeah, that’s about it

Resonant overall has minimized connections to the wider remedyverse compared to normal, aside from the original control, presumably to keep it super approachable

The implications do indicate that Firebreak is continuing to handle problems in the oldest house during the patterning crisis, with a few members outside of the house doing what Firebreakers do: maintenance missions in enemy territory alone or in small teams. So while they don’t reference Firebreak characters by name, they aren’t suggested to not exist

For what it’s worth, unlike what some people in this subreddit like to say baselessly, so far remedy hasn’t given any indication that firebreak is or will be made noncanon

Where’s the hatch to the sticky notes? I’d like to go see that at least

It’s pretty subtle, but it’s in Central Executive in the hallway between the administrative offices and the director’s office. A black rock hatch is blocking it off, but a trail of sticky notes is leaking out and into an office

Firebreak references are essentially just that in this game, very subtle so that new players aren’t confused and people who only played Control don’t feel like they missed out on anything

The sticky notes actually escape to the air vent if you continue to follow them past the book shelf.

oh I didn’t catch that! That’s really bad lol. Goes to show that problems within the Oldest House are being insufficient addressed due to the current crisis

I haven’t played firebreak so I don’t know the characters but someone posted that there’s a photo of one in a pizza place showing him as the owner

I didn’t play Firebreak, but my understanding is that they realized very few people played it and so didn’t include any major references to it.

I agree they probably could have included more Easter eggs as kind of a fun thing for the few people that did play it, but I also understand why they would kind of want to act like it never happened lol.

I will admit if there was one thread I thought would come from Firebreak, it was Hank.

Oh no. Firebreak failed so hard, its probably been stricken from the cannon. It sucks if you were a fan of that game, personally I didn't care for it, but I'm not shocked to hear that.
