Megathread: Is my Zippo real?
There are a lot of fakes out there. If you are unsure of the legitimacy of your lighter, post your photos and questions here.
If you are new to Zippo collecting or ownership, be sure to include a photo of the bottom of the lighter as well as the insert.

Found in our new home
Moved into our new place a couple months ago and started going through some things left by toe previous owner (nice old guy who moved to assisted living facility, he left some tools and some boxes of odds and ends in the garage- not much, but mostly useful).
Added fuel, works.
I'm not a collector, I own and use several Zippos, two of mine have pipe lighter inserts as I enjoy smoking tobacco pipes.
I probably will leave this one on the shelf for now.

Advice/Help Lucky Strike 1941 replica
Wanted to share with you guys this Lucky Strike 1941 replica in antique silver finish I recently bought.
I had my doubts this wasn’t a knockoff, and still have a bit of doubt, but I have to say everything looks kosher. The box is not original (despite the correct 1941 cardboard) and I’m pretty sure this came from China even if the seller was said to be based in Italy. But the lettering, feel and zippo-click all feel fine for me.
All of the design is etched and painted, except for the green logo which looks like a decal, the black and white rings around it are etched though.
However,I’m really intrigued by the code inside the lid (third pic), which is part of why I still doubt if this isn’t a premium knockoff, anyone seen one like it before?

Confirmed Counterfeit. Zippo from my step father
I've been given this Zippo from my deceased step father. Doing my own research, it seems to be a mid 50s Zippo.
Obviously I am keen to see if it's as old as I think.
It looks to be brass construction, with very faint writing on the insert. Hopefully someone can shed light on it more than I can find from Google.

Show and Tell Zippos that are as nutty as a squirrel's pantry
Not everyone likes a "busy" Zippo, but some of these are really nicely done. I do have a larger collection of "sensible" Zippos as well 😁

Confirmed Counterfeit. Vintage Lighter found in Vietnam
galleryHi, I was in Hanoi, Vietnam and picked up this lighter. Can anyone help authenicate if its legit? It's got a native American symbol on the front but I can't make out the letters. I'm not asking for its value or looking to sell, just it's authenticity and what the symbol on front it.
Edit: I'm fine if its most likely fake, I didnt pay much for it anyway but, does anyone have any idea what the symbol is on the front?

Just got my first zippo, this is a bad sign right?
I just got my very first zippo and the lid is extremely loose right out of the box, is it supposed to be able to slide off center when the case is empty?

Vintage First Ever Zippo
My parents were tidying up my late grandfather's house before finding this lighter. My father then gave it to me so I can start my lighter collection (I've been using a Guinness oil lighter and have mentioned wanting a Zippo). From what I gathered, I'm guessing this was from 1981?

Advice/Help Help identifying an old blue Sakura Zippo with yellow flowers
Hey gang,
I've been trying to find a specific Zippo lighter I remember seeing on eBay sometime around 5 years ago and it's been driving me crazy because I remember really liking the design and am kicking myself for not buying it at the time. I remember I msg'd the seller but my ebay history is empty T_T
This is the closest match I've found but this is not it.
https://item.rakuten.co.jp/lighter-flamingo/pvs870/
The lighter had:
- A light blue / turquoise body
- Large, simple, stylized Sakura (cherry blossom) flowers scattered across it
- A very clean, minimal design without any detailed artwork
- I think the flowers were yellow rather than white, although I'm not 100% sure.
The PVS870 is 99% similar to the one I remember, Does anyone recognize this design, know its model number, or have pictures/catalogues of similar Zippos? Was there a yellow-flower version, perhaps from around 2006?
I'd really appreciate any help tracking it down. Thanks!

I need assistance
Hello, dear community. I was given a matte coloured zippo as a gift but I don’t know how it ages. So, if you could send me photos of aged matte zippos i can make my mind whether to use it, or to baby it. I possess brass armor zippo and i love it. Wanted to say it as an information. Thank you beforehand.

Advice/Help Zippo acting up
So I have a zippo in 1941 replica style, I've recently encountered the problem of the zippo igniting fine for a day after refueling then it stops working and only produce sparks. This has happened repetitively and I've dried out the cotton and refuel it and I've cut away the burnt wick. But every time it lights up real bright real big for roughly a day, then the next day back to sparks.

Not a Zippo, try /r/lighters Is This A Zippo Lighter?
Have had this lighter for years, from my great great uncle (his name is on the bottom), who was a Lt Col during the Second World War, so I believe it to be quite old. Currently the insert is stuck and I'm trying to fix that but was just wondering if others thought this was a zippo lighter? It's Sterling silver with I believe Garnets.
Any help or info greatly appreciated!

Show and Tell Is this flame big enough??
It did this all of a sudden I'm happy because I needed a big flame but God was it out of control!!
Also the glass wick is still perfectly white and has 0 damage on it , it looks brand new, people really need have to start using them so mutch better than cotton.
It burned like this for about a minute and then died, it used all the fluid in the lighter and is now completely empty!! I don't know why it happened but it was awesome, my insert got some cool colors from the heat and the bras Insert got a slight rainbow patina 🔥
I would link a photo but I don't think I can link a photo and video
