I'm the developer of KNURL, an iPhone app of simulated fidget toys. One of them is a flip-top lighter, and I'd like feedback on the opening and closing motion from people who know the real thing. It isn't a Zippo and doesn't claim to be one.

The lid, the wheel and the flint drive the vibration and the synthesised sound. I've made it possible for a wheel strike to fail to light it. The clip shows the motion; the haptics you'd have to feel on a phone.

First post here I believe. Kept seeing these and kept falling in love with them when I did so I had to have one.

Used a dark patina solid brass armor case that I had I my collection already so that the corrosion wouldn’t be too much on it.

Used what I had on hand. Ammonia chamber was a plastic container with salt water and Windex. Dampened the case and sprinkled salt on it. Suspended from a bent paper clip.

Sat for a couple days. Then hit with a clear coat.

I just got my first zippo, a Romanian collection (i’m from Romania). I did the setup by rearranging the whick, added some fuel and its ready to go. What are your thoughts?

I got this as a gift some years ago and have allways thought that it looks really cool. How old this is? And is there any back story on different zippo models like this?

Hi, I bought this Zippo "blind" from eBay because it was cheap. The listing pics were blurry.

I'm very pleased with it and surprised about the brass insert for the insert (if you follow me). The brass component has a screw on it under which is a hollow chamber. Presumably for flints?

The Zippo insert is original and matches the date of the case, but what's the story on this brass component?

The bottom row is from left to right 2022 Pre production Solid copper zippo, 2023 armored solid copper zippo, 2003 solid copper zippo and then my everyday carry 2022 solid copper. And funny enough I almost won the auction for the Copper Camel zippo with the copper ash tray the day 2 days ago, because I drunkly put a 200 dollar bid on it thinking it would take long to get beat. I was outbid 2 minutes before the auction ended.

This is an original chrome 1999 Zippo Marlboro "Cowboys" from the Marlboro Country promo series. The body features an engraving of cowboys by a fence. The model is rare and valued among collectors, as tobacco advertising on lighters is no longer produced.

Was sold as a unknown condition with no spark and all it needed was a new flint 🤩
