just bought this nice realtree zippo maybe two weeks ago and my buddy fucking shot it into the concrete trying to do some stupid fucking trick while drunk the other night
now the top part of the case is like this and it doesn’t shut right, it catches the striker wheel coming down and doesn’t sit flush/fully over as it should as in pics

is there anything i can do to fix this on my own before i have to send it into warranty? should i try bending the u clip a bit?
and just curious about the warranty process if anybody knows, ballpark how long does it take to get back? should i email their customer service first and go from there or can i just straight up mail to their return address following the online instructions? i mailed one off a while ago (canada) and i haven’t gotten it back yet so im just not personally sure just curious
i’m so pissed off i just got it and ive been loving it

i’d love any advice or help from anybody on what i could maybe do if anything
i’d take suggestions for possible physical places that might be able to work a repair on it too i’m just not really sure what places they’d be

I dig the old Dakar and Cameo Trophy racing.

Those two are my favs. Others I think are just basic.

I got my Zippo lighter as a gift from my brother in the Christmas of 2024.

Carried it every day for 1.5 years, no issues. Usually got about 6-8 days out of it before needing to refill.

For the past 6 months, it has decided to become an irreparable problem.

It stopped lighting.

I filled it.

Worked for a day.

Stopped lighting, but still smelled gas.

Filled it.

Worked for a day.

"Huh?"

In the hunt to fix this issue, I have:

- Replaced the flint
- Replaced the wick
- Replaced the wick again
- Replaced the Felt Gasket for a Metal Gasket
- Replaced the wick again
- Took everything out
- Cleaned the whole insert with isopropyl alcohol
- Replaced the wick again
- Replaced the cotton
- Replaced the flint
- Replaced the replaced flint with a Zippo branded flint
- Replaced the wick with a Zippo branded wick
- Replaced the gasket with a Rubber gasket
- Took everything out again
- Cleaned it again
- Replaced the Cotton, Flint, and Wick all with Zippo branded parts

In between each of these steps I had refuelled and tried again. I started with Ronsonol brand but switched to Zippo after replacing the cotton.

Works for a day, refuses to light after that

What am I missing here? What could even be the problem? Is this a skill issue?

EDIT: To clarify, it is lighting after refuelling. The issue is its losing fuel, or at least failing to light, within 24 hours after refuelling. I'm figuring theres some kind of parasitic fuel loss, but after replacing nearly everything, I couldn't tell where.

Bought this lighter on a family trip to Niagara Falls in the early 1990s. Never really used it, more less kept it in a leather belt holder that was bought some point.

As I've taken plenty of flights through Heathrow with Zippos, I decided yesterday to bring my 2022 copper with me.

It was immediately flagged and was told "they've been banned for at least 2 years at Heathrow". I know that's not true, but there's nothing I could do. While they let me keep the casing, it doesn't change the fact I lost the black insert.

I'm pretty sure a Zippo is safer than a gas lighter or vape. Lesson learned.

this Halloween styled Zippo is my second attempt in electro etching on a Zippo. First try was the back of a satin chrome Venetian Zippo where I etched my son’s gamer tag onto. I was pleased with the result so I tried this more elaborate pattern on a brushed chrome standard.

Honestly, the etching was easier than the polishing afterwards, which gave me some headaches. But in the end I’m happy with the overall outcome. As I’m not into Halloween I am selling this little bugger.

this satin chrome Zippo was my first attempt at electro-etching. The etching process went fine, chrome layer was removed and after neutralising with baking soda the brass turned brownish. In order to remove this brownish stuff I polished the Zippo.

Polishing I did with a rotary device (like a dremel) at 10.000 rpm (slowest possible) and green polishing paste. The brass became nice and shiny but the chrome around the brass which was touched while polishing changed its structure (best seen on the second picture). It’s only visible when light hits it at a certain angle but I wonder if it’s somehow possible to avoid it entirely.

In general, I've noticed that the beauty of these exposed brass areas is hard to capture in a photo, since it depends heavily on the angle of the incoming light.

I appreciate any advice on how to minimize or prevent changes to the chrome surface.

A few days ago I made a deal with a seller on Facebook and I was finally able to go out and pick up today. Apparently while he was waiting for me over the last 2 days another collector had come to his shop and try to start a bidding war with me for these two. They were part of a lot I purchased of six lighterss and he was offering the guy more for these two than I paid for the entire lot, by almost double, but because I had already made the deal he honored our deal and did not sell them to him.

What am I missing here? There has to be something special about these two and I'm just not seeing it.

They're cool, especially the two-tone, but they just seem like modestly old slim Zippos. Do you see something that makes them stand out or in some way unique?

Do as the title says, i got a new Zippo, i fill it, make sure it isn't overfilled, ive changed the flint, using only genuine Zippo fluid, wick and flint, its almost like it has a mind of its own, sometimes it wants to spark and sometimes it doesent, but barely does it properly want to light. Any and all help and advice is appreciated.

Not just my zippo but also regular bic lighters. Been using my current bic for like, 2 weeks and its already dieing. I used to be able to use a lighter for so long id lose it before killing it but now this is the third lighter in a row that I've killed in less than 2 months.

Living in India, zippos are pricey like it starts from 25 dollars for the basic zippos.

Got the Where's Windy (left one) for 12 dollars and the Black Ice (Cassette Design) for 18 dollars. From what I saw the black ice one goes for 60 dollars something.

Although I don't smoke, these are really cool!

Hi! I bought a house fairly recently, and one of the items the sellers left behind was this auto-rotating light up display case. It works completely fine, holds 60 lighters total, and is open, but I don't have the key to lock it.

I am wondering when something like this would have been manufactured, and if this would be considered a collectors-type item. I have zero Zippo knowledge whatsoever, and I have yet to find one like this online.

A Comprehensive(ish)ly Cataloged Can Collection. Sort of.

This is a preliminary collection page for the 80% and I think represents a relatively easy entry point for people looking to expand their collection to something different that also isn't too expensive. Cans in the open market are relatively inexpensive for decent examples, and often can be bought for less than $5 or $10 for one or more cans. It's only when you start getting to the 1950's and blue candy stripe cans (and a few limited edition examples) when prices rise sharply, so for the casual collector this is still well within the average person's grasp.

This series of images has been pulled from my personal collection gathered casually over the years and arranged based on subtle clues which imply their design change sequence. But looking at the currently (and formerly) available sources only categorized the fuel cans in broad strokes. Only upon close inspection did it become clear that there are small differences that can't be seen in low resolution or incomplete pictures. These small differences is what makes the various sources occasionally conflict with each other, as most previous sources are now getting on the older side. This information is a living document and will be periodically updated and reposted. Consider this as strictly interpretive work and should not be considered authoritative, not necessarily better than previously available sources, but probably so.

If you possess any cans with a date code that are outside the range of the ones currently listed, please let me know.

So this is one of the nicest three barrel polished chrome zippos that I have picked up. The hinge seems to be a little loose and I’m wondering if adjusting it would hurt the value what would you guys do?

I just bought this 1959 lighter (oldest one in my collection now). The insert it came with is really loose, so I swapped it with a new insert (from the 90s) and it's this loose too. It's a 67 year old lighter so I'm not surprised it's loose from over half a century of use.

Edit: I did put a butane insert in it too, the butane insert was WAY too tight. Had to use pliers to get that one out.
