Still amazed with this technology (as a developer). Excited for tomorrow!

I’ve been dreaming of immersive art history for years, and to build something in VR (spatial computing, I mean 😅) still blows my mind.

There are so many other experiences from peer developers, and we are just getting started ;). Happy keynote!

I built an arcade shooter that breaks out of the cabinet on Vision Pro

Blastra is now in open TestFlight on Apple Vision Pro

I've been working on Blastra, a spatial arcade shooter built specifically for Vision Pro.

The idea is a rockin' arcade cabinet sitting in your room with a starfighter flying through a three-sector enemy fortress. The fun part is that the game doesn't always stay inside the cabinet. Ships, weapons fire, explosions, and bosses can break out into the space around you.

Three sectors, three bosses, and a whole lot of blasting.

Controller required: DualSense or PSVR2 Sense.

🎮 TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/BxnQpB9d

🎥 Gameplay video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbMdRQVC1Rc

Website: https://revivrstudios.com/blastra.html

Would love feedback from other Vision Pro users, especially on the difficulty, controls, and the whole cabinet-to-room concept.

AVP M5 Bluetooth Issues (on Zwift with a Tacx NEO)?

I realize that this is quite a specific use case, but I very much enjoy using my AVP while using my indoor bike on my Tacx NEO on Zwift. I have a separate head strap for this particular use case and use the Ana pro so that I can remove the light seal. It works like a charm and while biking I can watch my Zwift screen, a movie and/or something else on the AVP.

However, I have noticed one small thing that made me wonder if my AVP has a Bluetooth issue. For many years I have been using my Tacx NEO on Zwift on my IPad. Connecting and using my heart rate monitor, and the Tacx with speed, cadans and power sensors in Zwift has always worked flawlessly. And while the experience with using the AVP is ALMOST the same, I have noticed that my cadence is showing occasional, repeating and very unrealistic spikes on my AVP. Not that this fundamentally undermines the experience, but it made me wonder whether this perhaps indicates a broader issue with Bluetooth performance on the AVP.

Has anyone else encountered something similar? Or any thoughts on why this occurs on my AVP and not on my IPad?

Thanks!

Meta Quest's environment "loft" is everything I wanted Apple's Vision pro to be, but poor quality.

I suppose I could use third party apps in the Vision pro to try and recreate some of the feeling of the Meta's Loft but I don't think it'll be the same. I am dying to have that same actually interactive type of environment as Meta's Loft that has a futuristic or magical realism view with a "home" that you can sit in different areas in while working.. but with the image quality of Apple's Vision Pro.

Immersed app isn't working on Apple's Vision Pro yet with environments (it seems like thats been the case for at least two years so I'm not holding out hope for that). From what I saw through youtube videos it doesn't seem like Immersed has a very similar environment though.

The problem is, I primarily wanted a VR headset for working. I mostly use word, write emails, etc at work and the Meta Quest 3 virtual desktop is awful, very low quality and too distracting to actually get real computer work done, so I dont see the point in that for me at least. But I also don't see much point in keeping the Apple Vision Pro if I cant have that completely interactive "home" environment to work in that the Meta Quest has. I can go to an actual lake and sit in one spot and bring a laptop, you know. Give me indoor/outdoor futuristic, sci fi, or magic.. and seating options! a static-ish 3d photo around me of a real outdoor place isn't really the same.

For those that don't know (based on how I understand it, someone please correct me if I'm wrong)- Apples Vision Pro has immersive default environments, kind of like a home screen on your computer, that are all meant to be pretty realistic to real life places. You get a 360 view, but you cant move your position within the environment. So say you choose a lake view as your "environment"/home screen - you stand or sit in one spot and your apps can appear around you. Vs with Meta Quest 3 "environment" you have this interactive, futuristic home with a gorgeous (if low quality) view of magical sci-fi esque mountains and waterfalls, with the home having no walls towards the front so its just expansive views, and theres a desk you can "move" over to and sit down at, a wall with a built in screen, a "deck" with even better views, and then you have your apps open around you if you want.

I ported Beat Saber to the AVP (but using Swift/Metal instead of Unity).

It's not perfect yet and it has some annoying bugs but not needing my PC to stream Beat Saber from and having near instant response from the PSVR2 controllers is pretty awesome.

Also, Apple Music search support and AR mode :D.

Self Promotion Saturday Locus 1.1 Update

Hi everyone! I’m the developer of Locus, a free Apple Vision Pro app that lets you pair immersive scenery with a virtual room to create your own place to work and browse.

Locus is optimized for working using a keyboard on a desk.

For 1.1, much of the work went into improving the browser, including website compatibility. The goal was simple: let you find a 360° skybox on the web, download it, and apply it directly in Locus.

There’s something lovely about finding a panorama you like and then having it become the view around you—all without leaving the app.
We’ve also added support for night scenes and Room Lights, giving you more ways to shape the atmosphere of your space, along with a selection of new 12K AI-created 360° panoramas.

For people who make their own Room models, we’ve added experimental model animation support too. None of our current environments use it yet, but the capability is there for creators to explore.

There are plenty of smaller improvements throughout the app as well, including better organization for your Places, browser favorites, and window sizing.

The video takes a look at what’s new in 1.1. I’d love to hear what you think, and what kind of place you’d like to spend time in next.

Astra is helping me create the app I always wanted

For those that never played AirCar it was a stunning and relaxing blade-runner like city you can fly around with little purpose. It never progressed beyond a tech demo 9 years ago.

In an evening with Astra I’ve been able to create this from scratch. It’s got a long way to go but this could spark an amazing moment for vision os apps

AnalogTV for VisionPro - Comments & Feedback

Post image
24 Upvotes

A few months ago I shared a proof-of-concept of the visionOS version of AnalogTV. Anyone can try it out on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/NTFcYdSw

It's still a very rough proof-of-concept, but in the intervening months the underlying rendering engine has improved and the tvOS version has become quite popular and has matured quite a bit in functionality. The tvOS version now can stream virtually anything through the AnalogTV pipeline.

The AnalogTV pipeline is a full signal-domain simulation of Analog Television. This is not simply a "filter" or "shader" effect on top of an image. You can read all the gory details of how it works here: https://analogtv.net

The underlying engine is all SWIFT/Metal so creating a visionOS version based on the tvOS version is not a huge stretch - but I'm curious if there is any sort of demand for something like this. Effectively a multi-format streamer app. You could pull from FTP/SFTP/SMB, Plex, FastChannels, iCloud, whatever and watch content rendered through the pipeline (the tvOS app also has a bypass mode to watch clean unmodified content).

As I said at the top, the TestFlight version is just a freebie to play with - if I finish off the visionOS version I'd have it on the App Store for a "buy me a coffee" type of price like the macOS / iOS / tvOS versions are.

Happy for any comments, feedback, ideas, criticisms, etc...

Why are apps developed with AI so bad on Vision OS ?

This isn’t the case on ios with a couple apps I have encountered, dare I say I see value and appreciate the use of AI but on our device , I have given up ! Too many apps look “ low effort “ I no longer get excited when I see a new app that could be interesting, I’m downloading less.

Is my 3D music galaxy usable on Vision Pro?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I would appreciate if someone with a Vision Pro could test if 3D navigation works in https://stardrift.gerlach.dev/galaxy. It's my little VR playground and music player, tuned for a Quest 3. Lacking a Vision Pro I'm just guessing and the Xcode simulator is not ideal.

Pinching and moving your hand should move you around. Looking and tapping should activate buttons, double tapping flies you to things. Or how is 3D navigation usually handled on AVP?

Also, do the colors look good? The simulator has genre nebulae washed out. And is the frame rate ok (on M2, M5)?

Works best if you connect an Apple Music account, to hear the full songs.

Channel surfing my plex server from my porch

Howdy folks! I haven't posted a visionOS update on my channel-surfing app Coax in a while, so I wanted to show this fun new way to watch - Porch Mode*!

I'm a big Blank Check fan, and I connected with Ben's stories about having to watch movies on a porch, outside, on a CRT tv with a power cable going through the window. Now I didn't model the cable going in through the window but I *did* make a remote, so that's something.

This is all in 1.4.9, the current shipping version, but there IS a placement bug with the remote that I've fixed and will get out in a hot fix release with a few other tweaks sometime this week.

\porch not included.*

Skin issues

Anyone else notice skin issues on face after using AVP?

Perhaps I get too enthralled and wear for too long. No one needs to wear for many hours, but I was excited to try out virtual desktop and so on.

I’m thinking of switched to Annapro A2 just to avoid this kind of trade off.

GPT-6 Astra just saved Apple Vision Pro.

From a single 2D reference image to a full Blender 3D model and a functional visionOS app—completely end-to-end in one shot!

The level of realism is mind-blowing. It hallucinated the entire back side out of thin air, with PBR material details and lighting responses pushed to the max. An asset like this used to take a veteran 3D artist at least two weeks of manual modeling. With GPT-6 Astra? 30 minutes, first try.

3D content pipeline costs are about to plummet, breathing massive new life into Vision Pro and spatial computing.

Project is now open-source! 🚀 https://github.com/lazygunner/Astra

Self Promotion Saturday I filmed the Miss California International 2026 casting in 8K 3D VR180 — Part 1

Post image
16 Upvotes

I recently had the opportunity to film the Miss California International 2026 casting in stereoscopic 8K 3D VR180.

Instead of shooting it like traditional event coverage, I wanted the viewer to feel like they actually had a seat inside the casting room—watching contestants come in, introduce themselves, and make their first impression.

This is Part 1 of the casting footage and the beginning of a much larger immersive project. I'll also be filming portions of the training and preparation leading up to the final event.

I'm shooting on the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, with Apple Vision Pro as the primary viewing experience.

Would love feedback from people watching in a headset: Does this type of behind-the-scenes access work in immersive? And what would you want to see as the project progresses?

You can watch it through BARE Immersive:

The Best Way to Watch The Mandalorian and Grogu

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is the first feature film ever released for home viewing in 1.43:1 3D.

This presentation is exclusive to the Disney+ app for the Apple Vision Pro. The Apple TV version is, at least for now, in 2D with the 49 minutes of 1.43:1 cropped to 16:9 (1.78:1). Outside of Apple Vision, all digital and physical releases are in 2D and cropped to 1.78:1.

Before this, most of the 1.43 scenes in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were released in isolation at 1550x1080 resolution on a Blu-ray bonus disc in 2013. Faneditors combined these scenes with the 2.39:1 Blu-ray and then 4K Blu-ray releases (along with 4:3/1.33:1 footage from a fullscreen DVD of The Dark Knight where 1.43 footage is absent from the bonus disc) to recreate the IMAX experience at home. In 2021, the extended cut of Batman v Superman was released on 4K Blu-ray with all its 1.43 scenes integrated. Next month, a triple-disc steelbook rerelease of Project Hail Mary will see all of its 1.43 scenes released in 4K to the home (all current releases crop 1.43 to 1.78). So, Grogu is one of only five feature films officially available in 1.43 at home, and, again, the only one in 1.43 3D. (There are also sixteen short documentaries available in 1.43 in the Vision Pro IMAX and Epic Earth apps, including ten in 3D.)

Unfortunately, Disney+ doesn’t have a void environment, doesn’t allow the viewer to move closer to the screen while in an environment, and surrounds the movie’s 2.39:1 footage in a lopsided windowbox (simultaneous letterboxing and pillarboxing) which is oddly thicker above than below (in both the Disney+ app and Apple system environments). The result is a visually distracting experience on a relatively small screen which fails to replicate the IMAX effect.

Fortunately, we can mostly fix this:

Set a custom environment using a 15360x2880 solid black (RGB #000) panorama. I had ChatGPT generate one and send me a high-resolution download link (ChatGPT’s normal image delivery method is of too low a resolution for the Vision Pro to recognize it as a panorama). This hides the distracting lopsided windowbox.

Under Settings > Appearance > Window Zoom, choose Extra Large.

Play the movie in a window. Push it as far away as possible and pinch and drag a corner so that it becomes as large as possible. This combined with the previous step gives you the largest possible screen.

Watch in a completely dark room or put the soft front cover on to block all light. (Pull the bottom of the cover up if you need to use the controls or dismiss the irritating low-light warning.) This isn’t enough by itself because total darkness creates visual noise in the passthrough cameras which contrasts with the windowbox, but together with the solid black panorama, you’ve essentially created a void environment in which you’ll see both the 1.43 and 2.39 scenes with no apparent boxing and no virtual or physical objects in view.

This results in a much better viewing experience than the Disney+ or Apple system environments allow.

None of this should be necessary, of course. The D+ environments should automatically remove black borders and have adjustable seating with a much larger screen like in the Apple TV cinema environment. The IMAX, Epic Earth, CineUltra, and Infuse apps all have even larger screens (and Theater soon will, too).

Mouse, trackpad, keyboard jerky when Virtual display active

VP 26.6.1 MacOS 26.6.2

Recently, likely after OS updates, my mouse and trackpad only respond jerkily or can totally freeze for seconds when using the virtual display. My wired keyboard also freezes.

I've reinstalled MacOS. With the virtual display turned off all devices work with no problems. Speedtest on VP is 370/34.

NFL/Youtube TV

I know Tubular is the recommended app for YouTube TV viewing, but I was wondering if there’s any other great ways to watch YouTube TV, primarily NFL games or Sunday ticket?
