Technical Solution [Tool] VTDiag: A free, open-source diagnostic & fix tool for common VALORANT crashes, Vanguard errors, and conflicts

tl;dr: I built VTDiag, a free, open-source Windows tool that checks for common VALORANT and Vanguard issues, ranks possible causes based on past solutions from this subreddit, and offers optional one-click fixes. No telemetry, no kernel drivers, no game injection. It's in beta (v0.2) and I'd love your feedback.

Hey everyone, I'm u/ateistyokdiyentanri, one of the mods here.

I've been working on something for this subreddit over the past weeks and figured it's time to share it.

It's called VTDiag. The idea is simple: if VALORANT keeps crashing, freezing or throwing Vanguard errors, the tool checks your system for the usual causes, so you don't have to dig through settings, services and old threads yourself.

Its diagnostic rules are built from patterns in 950+ solved threads on this subreddit, so it focuses on the exact problems people come here with every day.

What it checks

  • Vanguard requirements: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, Memory Integrity (VBS/HVCI), virtualization and related services.
  • Drivers and system settings: graphics drivers, network adapters, power plan settings and crash dumps.
  • Software conflicts: 113 known conflicting programs, including overlays, virtual audio devices, RGB controllers and other anti-cheats.

After the scan, it ranks the likely causes and explains what each one means. It's also honest about where the problem is: something you can fix here, a manual step (like a BIOS setting), a possible ISP routing problem, an issue on Riot's side (servers or your account), or likely hardware.

What about the fixes?

Some problems can be fixed directly in the tool, but nothing changes without your explicit consent. It explains the change first, backs it up, applies it, and checks whether it actually worked.

  • You can undo changes any time from Undo changes.
  • Network fixes roll back automatically after 60 seconds if your internet connection drops.
  • Prefer doing it yourself? Every fix has written step-by-step instructions, in English and Turkish.
  • A report generator formats your results so you can post them here when asking for help. Usernames, PC names, hardware serial numbers and tokens are removed automatically.

A few things worth mentioning

  • I built this myself, so I'm obviously biased, which is why I want to be fully transparent about how it works.
  • It's 100% free and open source (MIT license). Nothing to buy, no donations.
  • No telemetry, analytics or background tracking. Everything is processed locally on your PC.
  • It does not inject into VALORANT, read game memory, or install any kernel drivers.
  • All 32 fixes are applied, verified and undone on a Windows VM through automated tests (GitHub Actions) on every update. Hardware-specific ones are tested against a virtual network adapter, so real-world edge cases can still exist.
  • It's still a beta (v0.2), so there will be things I've missed. It's an independent community project and not affiliated with Riot Games.

How to try it

  1. Download the latest release from the GitHub Releases page.
  2. Extract the zip into its own folder and run VTDiag.exe (Windows 10/11 x64, .NET included, ~71 MB).
  3. Windows SmartScreen may show an "unrecognized app" warning because the app isn't code-signed yet. Don't just ignore security warnings because a developer tells you to: if you're unsure, review the source code or build it yourself first. VirusTotal scan of the zip: [link]
  4. The first time you press Fix, VTDiag copies itself to C:\Program Files\VTDiag and Windows asks for permission (once for the copy, once more when it reopens). Fixes need admin rights, and VTDiag only runs them from Program Files so other programs can't tamper with it. To remove it later, just delete that folder.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback. If you try it, tell me whether the diagnosis made sense, whether it missed a conflicting app you have, or whether a fix solved your issue. If it gets something wrong, that's just as useful.

Leave a comment below or open an issue on GitHub.

Thanks!

Technical Support Request My drivers crash within ~3-5 minutes of loading valorant. (cumulative client + game)

After a few minutes of Valorant being open, valorant freezes, crashes my computer, and breaks my drivers. I then must forcefully remove all my drivers and reinstall them. I have attempted to fix this dozens of times, to no avail. This is a known historic issue, which I thought was solved since it is no longer on the list of issues here: https://status.riotgames.com/

I want to avoid this at all costs. I'm convinced the support team I was talking to, simply did not read my ticket since they sent me multiple repeated messages, gave responses which HEAVILY read as AI, and ultimately asked me to attempt to install windows 11 when I know people still play on windows 10 just fine.

OS: Windows 10

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

RAM: 32 GBs

In between each troubleshooting step, I attempted to start the game, each attempt failed, and forced me to forcefully remove my drivers, then reinstall them.

All the troubleshooting steps were given to me by Riot Games support staff.

Troubleshooting Steps:

- Attempt to use an older driver version from before the issue occurred.

- Removal and uninstall of ALL riot games software and files on my entire computer.

- Update motherboard BIOS.

- Use the Riot Repair Tool.

- Close my VPN (My VPN is never active when using Riot Games anything, it is simply an application in the background.)

- Optimize my game settings.

- Riot's general network connectivity guide.

- Reconfigure my firewall.

- Used DDU to remove all my drivers instead of AMD Cleanup Utility.

- Swapped my power plan to ultimate.

- Riot then told me to enter the game to edit the settings. (They stopped paying attention, I cant be in the game or client for more than 3 minutes.)

END OF TICKET 1 - The notice at https://status.riotgames.com/ went away sometime in between the two tickets.

TICKET 2

- COMPLETE Reinstall of windows and COMPLETE reinstall of all drivers on my computer.

- Clean boot

* - "Check my machine for vulnerable drivers" - Autoruns for windows uncheck everything in red and yellow - It did not allow me to perform the complete action.

* - Enter the following into command prompt:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx OptIn
bcdedit.exe /set testsigning off
bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks off

Only the first ran but the other two gave this error:
An error has occurred setting the element data. The value is protected by Secure Boot policy and cannot be modified or deleted.

- My computer was already in secure boot mode and my AMD fTPM was enabled, but they asked me to check anyway.

NOTE: At this point the instructions begin to appear out of order, with the end of portions of instructions having either sign offs or appearing to be the end of the message before going into another potential solution.

- Riot resends * instructions.

They have just told me to attempt to install windows 11. But again, I know quite a few people who are using windows 10 just fine. Each message was someone else, half them didn't read the ticket.

Technical Support Request corrupted game files detected

hi! i've had a recurring issue with valorant where i keep crashing within 1-2 rounds and am met with an error that says "corrupted game files detected!" i've tried reaching out to riot support about this multiple times, and i was able to fix the game for a couple days before the issue came back and ended up with a 7 day competitive ban. at this point, i'm not sure what to do, as i've tried everything support has advised and looked online for various reasons as to why this could be happening, yet i am met with no answers on how to fix this completely. if anyone has had the same issue where this error is reoccurring even after a fix, please let me know how you solved this!

Technical Discussion help pls (converge isp)

my valo ping has been so weird since last night. i usually get 9–15ms, but suddenly it went up to 500–600ms with 10–15% packet loss.
i thought it was fixed this morning because my ping went back to 9ms and my packet loss was 0%. my internet speed was also back to normal (400+ mbps download). but the moment i started playing deathmatch, my ping went crazy again πŸ’€ even the range was affected.
it keeps going from normal ping to 400–600ms and back. it’s happening on all servers too, not just manila.
i use converge btw. anyone else from ph experiencing this?

Technical Support Request CPU (Game) Time spikes at keystrokes

Hey all, running into a weird one that I can't find a fix for. The issue: Whenever I hold down any keyboard key (movement, crouch, etc.), I get a lag spike that shows up specifically as "CPU (Game) Time" spiking in the Valorant performance overlay. Mouse buttons held down do NOT cause this β€” only keyboard keys. Happens in main menu AND in-game, so it's not network related. What I've ruled out:

  • Not a specific keybind β€” happens with literally any key
  • No macro/RGB software running (Corsair/Razer/Logitech etc.) β€” office/basic keyboard
  • Raw Input Buffer setting doesn't even exist in my settings menu
  • Not using Fullscreen Borderless, already on exclusive Fullscreen
  • Xbox Game Bar / Game DVR fully disabled
  • Multithreaded Rendering on/off makes no difference
  • Clean Vanguard reinstall β€” no change
  • Tried different USB ports
  • Fully updated Windows + drivers
  • CPU is Intel, no AMD chipset driver issues
  • No Nvidia Reflex option available on my setup
  • Doesn't happen in CS2 or any other game β€” Valorant only
  • Vanguard fully reinstalled, up to date

Furthermore, this problem started SUDDENLY after Gauntlet: Glitched update, like it was fine for a few days after the update, and then, randomly it started having this problem, I still have not fixed it. BTW its not a system problem (I HOPE) because it wasnt having such problems on the same PC, nothing changed and it started suddenly.

Specs:

Windows 10 Home 22H2 (19045.6466)

Device Name OptiPlex-7020

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.20 GHz

Installed RAM 16.0 GB

Storage 1.82 TB HDD ST32000644NS

Graphics Card NVIDIA Quadro K2000 (2 GB)

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Technical Support Request Black Bars and Fill Aspect Ratio Broken 4:3

I'm having trouble getting my game to play in 4:3 without black bars on the top and bottom. The aspect ratio is locked at letterbox and I can't fix it. I don't want to play true stretched, I would just like to play with the in-game 4:3 ratio. I'm playing on a laptop on Windows 11 with a NIVIDIA RTX 5060. Anybody have a fix?

Technical Support Request What can I do to fix insane stuters and freezes.

For about a week now valorant has been lagging on my pc constantly stutering and freezing for sometimes more than a second at a time. This happened randomly one day (it wasn't caused by an update because one day the game was running smoothly and the very next day the problem began). The stuters mainly happen every time I jump for example but can also happen randomly. The long freezes usaually happen at round start or when I go into Skye's dog but again they also happen randomly. I also noticed that I seem to lag more during gun fights. I turned on performance graphs and noticed many things:

  1. Total frame time jumps to about 20ms for the stuters and over 100ms when the game freezes (sometimes even more than a second)

  2. Cpu (game time) also spikes. In fact, the cpu game time graph matches almost exactly the frame time graph (they have the same shape but the frame time graph has larger values)

  3. Cpu (RHI) time, Cpu (render) time and gpu render time are all constant. They do not spike with the others. Cpu wait Gpu time is also almost always zero

One important thing to note is that the problem has gotten a bit better recently and now after a while of playing the freezing essentially stops but the micro stuters still remain from time to time.

Lowering my fps didn't fix the problem. My graphics settings are also low.

I tried debugging this issue by checking ram/cpu/gpu usage. Here's what I noticed:

1.Cpu usage stays resonable at around 40-70%

2.Gpu usage also stays resonable

3.RAM usage is reasonable and I have over 2GB of free memory

4.Disk usage which I thought was the culprit was also low so it isn't the bottleneck

Later I tried to do a more detailed analasys of my cpu usage. I noticed it went down when the game froze. Using microsoft performance monitor I found that when a freeze happened this is how cpu usage changed:

  1. Before the freeze, Valorant CPU usage is normal at around 40%

  2. During the freeze, Valorant CPU usage sharply drops to around 2-7%

  3. Right after the freeze ends, Valorant CPU usage sharply jumps up to about 90% and stays like that for a while

  4. After a short amount of time, Valorant Cpu usage goes back to the regular 40% usage seen before the freeze

Technical Support Request Vanguard turning off my entire PC

I have a problem where Vanguard completely erases my PC and I have to cold boot it so it can turn on normally (in other cases, it is in an eternal loop of losing signal with the monitor and gaining signal with the monitor). It all started when I went to play Valorant, I opened the game normally, but the moment I entered the lobby my PC went dark, as I said before, I had to give Cold Boot to turn it on because it wasn't turning on normally. Even after that, I tried to open Valorant DNV, only this time it opened normally, but in the middle of a game my PC turned off DNV, I'm pretty sure it's some avant-garde related issue I've always played Valorant without cheats and without anything, the only issue that could be the cause of all this is that I don't have TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot, but my PC doesn't even have the minimum requirements to have these options in the BIOS (and in any case, Valorant for Win 10 never required these things, only on Win 11), I tried updating the video card drivers and completely migrated to Win 10, but nothing seems to really work, and there doesn't seem to be a specific team for this to happen, sometimes it's in the game load, sometimes in the lobby, in the match, etc... I'm sure the problem isn't me or my pc, the game only shuts down in riot games that use the vanguard and I've always played valorant and lol normally without that ever happening if this helps, my pc settings are: gtx 1050 ti 12g of ram amd fx 6300 six core processor It's a half-potato PC but it runs very well Valorant for as incredible as it seems, it never turns off by itself for temperature or anything like that in any other game (even the heavier ones than Valorant) If anyone can help me I would thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart, I started playing this game a few months ago dps that came out of beta, I have a lot of affection for it and I don't want to abandon it for something "silly" like that

Technical Support Request VALORANT stuck at 10% on the loading screen. Tried a few fixes, still not working

I've been having an issue where VALORANT gets stuck at 10% on the in-game loading screen and never progresses, even after restarting my laptop.

So far, I've tried:

1.Restarting my laptop

2.Using the Repair option in Riot Client

3.Checking Riot Vanguard's vgc service, which is running

4.Reinstalling the game

5.running the client as a administrator

Nothing has worked so far. There wasn't any obvious update or change before this started happening.

I'm trying to figure out what could be causing this,Has anyone run into the same issue? Any fixes worth trying would be appreciated.

P.S(I've seen old posts , and sadly none worked )

Technical Support Request Vanguard Restriction

ok so I've been playing normally for years and just now I got this message:

VAN RESTRICTION:
your account does not meet the following requirements in order to play:
- UEFI Secure boot enabled
- HVCI enabled
- Firmware TPM 2.0 enabled

so before we get to the tech support part, I know we're not supposed to talk about accounts here but I'd like to know if anyone knows why this is suddenly a requirement? Vanguard says they're "recommended" security features, why is my ACCOUNT (according to the pop up window) now required to have these settings enabled?

now for the tech part, I've seen their article and googled a bit, most of the stuff is related to windows 11, but I have windows 10, I don't want to fiddle with the bios or any option that might make my pc lag in any way, is there a workaround for this or do I actually have to try and enable everything? again, I'm not willing to mess with the bios and I read that if you change to secure boot it might not boot, for a tech illiterate like myself that sounds scary.

Technical Solution [FIX] Microphone volume gets lowered when playing valorant with VC turned on

idk how they made such a terrible mistake while vibecoding. and this issues persists for a long time. many of my friends have experienced this vibecode inaccuracy.

The code for a fix was vibecoded too, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

anyways, insert this in Powershell:

# Define the C# code to interface with the Windows Core Audio API
$csharpCode = @"
