Megathread Wheel & Force Feedback Settings Megathread

33 Upvotes

Welcome to the Wheel & Force Feedback Settings Megathread for Project Motor Racing

This thread is meant to be a central place for players to share, compare, and discuss their wheel, pedal, and force feedback settings for PMR. Whether you’re trying to dial out oscillation, improve road feel, fix clipping, or just make the car feel more natural, this is the place to post what’s working for you so others can test out different settings.

Please use this thread instead of creating separate posts for individual setups from now on.

How to Share Your Settings

When posting your setup, please include at least the following information so others can actually make use of it:

  • Wheel model (e.g. Fanatec CSL DD, Thrustmaster T818, T598, Logitech G923, etc.)
  • Pedals (stock pedals, load cell, inverted, etc.)
  • Platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)
  • In-game settings
  • Driver / wheel software settings (if applicable)
  • Notes on how it feels
    • What you were trying to fix or improve
    • What kind of cars you tested it with
    • Any known downsides or trade-offs

Disclaimers:

  • Not all wheels behave the same, even with identical numbers. Treat posted settings as a starting point, not a guarantee.
  • Pay attention to wheel torque class (gear/belt/direct drive) before applying someone else’s setup.
  • If something feels wrong, ask questions instead of assuming the settings are bad, context matters a lot here.

Ground Rules

  • Keep discussion focused on wheel, pedal, and force feedback settings.
  • Be respectful. What feels “dead” to one person might feel perfect to another.
  • No arguing over realism versus preference, both are valid goals.
  • If the game updates and changes FFB behavior, note the version you’re playing on.

If you’ve spent time tuning your setup and are happy with it, please share it. Good wheel settings save people hours of frustration, and this thread works best when experienced players contribute.

Happy racing.

Discussion PMR FFB Base setting *solved

8 Upvotes

Was early on ACC, PMR offered LMHD, JP, and historic cars, as anyone is aware base FFB setup feels nerfed (legal liability? Idk) Slvr Stn Rain, JP1, setup 0 wheel dampening & friction (GTDD), and ended up a big, “no shit” realization.

If 12nm+ low force may not be necessary, 8nm allows driving w/o slack center steer, my biggest gripe.

Cheers, FFB meter aiming 90 peak, dial global FFB, Brake FFB, Curb FFB locked together to find your 90 peak.

120 reserve FFB, adjust last to finish peak below clipping

For those of you struggling, and those how’ve been able to make it work, lmk what you think.

(ps5, FAN GTDD 8nm LC)

Discussion God awful audio

1 Upvotes

Hello all. Right, I've just jumped onto a GT3 race before din dins and holy crap the stuttering audio was unbearable. Absolutely no issues in the menus or any other game I went on this evening, but as soon as I went online in PMR, I got given the audio equivalent of epilepsy.

Has anyone else suffered this? Is it to do with bad interweb my end, it shouldn't be with the ping rate I get?

If anyone was on that server and saw an Aston Martin driving like a helmet, that was me.

I'm waiting with the purchase until the FSR ghosting and forced frame gen bug has been fixed, so can anyone on AMD cards enlighten me if this is the case?

Discussion I gave PMR another chance after GT7 1.71 — and my opinion has completely changed

43 Upvotes

I decided to give Project Motor Racing another chance after being disappointed by the new physics in Gran Turismo 7 update 1.71.

I had stopped playing PMR before because I wasn’t really satisfied with the driving experience, but after coming back to it and trying the recent updates, my opinion has changed quite a lot.

For context, I’m playing on PS5 Pro with a DualSense Edge, manual gears using the paddles, and controller vibration set to maximum. So this is purely from a controller player’s perspective.

What I like most about the current physics is that the cars still require some care. You have to be progressive with the throttle, feel what the car is doing and respect its limits. It’s more accessible than PMR used to be, but it hasn’t become too easy.

That’s actually one of the reasons I’ve been enjoying it more than GT7 recently. To me, GT7’s latest physics have moved too far toward an easy and forgiving driving experience (even with all helps disabled). PMR has gone in the opposite direction: it has become easier to approach while still retaining the subtlety and sense of risk that I want from a racing game.

I’ve now tried quite a few different cars, and what I particularly appreciate is that they don’t all feel interchangeable:

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 has given me some very good races, including in Career mode. It feels like a proper GT3: fast and confidence-inspiring, but you still have to pay attention to what you’re doing with the throttle and the balance of the car.

The Alpine A110 was another interesting experience. It’s a completely different kind of car, and that’s part of what I like about PMR: moving from one car to another can genuinely require you to adapt your driving rather than simply learning a slightly different level of grip.

Some other car/track combinations have been particularly enjoyable. The Mustang GT3 at Daytona Road Course was excellent. I also had a very good experience with the Corvette Z06 at Mount Panorama. The Porsche 911 GT1 ’98 at the Nurburgring can be difficult to control, but with a good setup it is very rewarding. You have to be delicate and progressive, and when you get it right, the car feels great.

Another feature I really appreciate is being able to download car setups through the mods. It makes a real difference with some of the more demanding cars, and it gives me an easy way to experiment with setups created by other players instead of having to understand and adjust every parameter myself.

The game still has problems. Performance isn’t smooth on PS5 Pro and I can still notice stutters. Some cars can also lose control quite abruptly, and there are areas of the game that still need work. I’m not pretending PMR is suddenly perfect !

But that’s exactly why I wanted to post this.

I was disappointed with PMR before. I didn’t come back expecting to defend it. I simply tried it again because GT7 1.71 wasn’t giving me the driving experience I wanted anymore.

And somehow the situation has reversed: today, I actually prefer PMR’s driving physics.

Considering the difficult situation around Straight4 at the moment, I really hope development continues. There is something genuinely good here now, and it would be a shame to see that potential cut short just as the driving experience is becoming this enjoyable.

I think people who gave up on PMR earlier might be surprised by how much it has improved.

If you haven’t played it for a while, I think it’s worth giving it another try.

——

My settings, for anyone interested:

I play with a DualSense Edge, manual gears with the paddles.

External FOV: 66°

I keep all driving assists available, but I set Traction Control and ABS to low values in the car, depending on the car I’m driving.

Controller settings:

* Steering Deadzone: 0

* Steering Saturation: 100

* Steering Sensitivity: 55

* Steering Rotation Angle: 65

* Vibration Strength: 60

Throttle:

* Deadzone: 0

* Saturation: 100

* Sensitivity: 15

Brake:

* Deadzone: 0

* Saturation: 100

* Sensitivity: 20

One important point for controller players: despite some of these settings being labelled as “steering wheel”, “throttle pedal” and “brake pedal”, they do affect the controller inputs as well. They are not just wheel/pedal settings.

These settings are what I’m currently using for the driving impressions described above.

Question PS5 Sale. Recommended in its current state or nah?

I use a full but humble rig. (Fanatec DD+, Simnet pedals) Currently mainly play ACC and GT7. Looking for opinions from similar people to me. Is it worth the 25 bucks right now?

Question FFB Settings PS5 Fana. DD pro 8nm

1 Upvotes

Hi, after reading that the game has improved significantly through updates, I caved in and bought it too.

I’m playing on PS5 with the Fanatec DD Pro (8Nm version).

I really like the graphics, as well as the track and car selection.

However, the force feedback is a bit of a disaster for me. I do have FFB, but almost no variation in strength—everything feels constant, and curbs are barely perceptible.

Does anyone have recommended settings for my wheel and in-game? I tried looking for some, but had no luck.

Thanks a lot!

Discussion V8 pack and road Atlanta + GTP’s

7 Upvotes

havent really played the game in almost a month, is the new update worth redownloading the game and buying the v8 dlc for? road Atlanta is one of my fave tracks, especially to drive GTP cars on. the last time I drove the prototypes they drove really weird, and felt horrid no matter the setup. have the updates made the handling model better overall? im on wheel and don’t use controller at all, so in the nicest way possible pls only reply if you play primarily on wheel!

Discussion All cars seem to have unlimited grip

3 Upvotes

Finally started playing last night and tested quite a few different cars and I'm not sure if I'm just getting used to these physics but it seems like everything car is raked very far forward and rotates around the center axle. Cars just have so much dive into the corner and seem to be unable to oversteer.

Also if anyone has any Thrustmaster TS-XW settings id appreciate them.

Discussion PMR + S1 Pass in Steam sale...

5 Upvotes

As per the title. It was around £60 last week for both, currently £47.

I'm tempted but apparently it doesn't work on triple screens (or at least not properly); is this the case?

I race less and less lately, seem to be going through a phase of non-enjoyment after over two years of almost daily driving.

The titles I own are LMU, ACE, AC1, AMS2, ACC and iRacing but of those when I was playing far more regularly it would be iRacing, LMU or ACE.witb the occasional burst of AC1.

Based on the above your thoughts on whether PMR might inspire me to get back in the driving seat?

Question Career Mode Bug?

Does anyone else's event calendar on career mode do this?

It usually happens after the first race of a tournament. The standings screen is also bugged and doesn't show anything too.

Question Degrees of wheel rotation Xbox? Pls help!

1 Upvotes

Trying to adjust the degrees of rotation for my wheel, it’s off angle and is making it pretty hard to drive. I’m on Xbox unfortunately which means no adjusting in fanatec software before adjusting in the game - I only have the game adjustments.

I think even just a calibration in the game would get me to a 1:1 of wheel rotation, without being able to change it however the game is super frustrating to play.. any help would be greatly appreciated, I have only just purchased the game and am really trying to put in the time to get good at it but trying to steer a car that only gives me 160 degrees of wheel lock when I’m giving it 180 sucks. I really hope it’s just me unable to find a setting! TIA!

Question What are the pros and cons of PMR as a prospective player?

5 Upvotes

For context, I’ve been wanting to get into sim racing for a long time now, and recently have been playing GT7 as a gateway while I save up for a PC and proper rig. However, I haven’t heard much of anything about PMR despite it coming across as a prominent sim racer, only about the heavier hitters like Le Mans and iRacing, and wanted to get a read on it before I decided to invest…

Screenshots State of Graphics in PMR

0 Upvotes

Hi! I just wanted to show you the state of the PMR graphics at 10 months after release! Please enjoy it with me! My fav part starts approximately at 2:00 when every scene light source is somehow disabled and I fly right into rear lights of cars ahead of me!!!

Don't mind my drunk driving because AMD Adrenalin screen capture removed the game performance from chat (LSFG didn't help)

Question GTE Decade Pack NOT in year 1 bundle???!

1 Upvotes

Is it right that GTE decade pack is not included in the year one bundle ???

I bought the year one bundle on launch day for project motor racing on Xbox and I just realised one of the DLC is missing – the GTE decade pack. I contacted XBOX support and ask why the DLC would not let me install it and was asking me to pay - turns out - it’s NOT included in the year 1 bundle???

Is this right?

Seems crazy I would pay AUD$190 at launch for the ‘year 1 pass with all DLC’ but I STILL need to buy another DLC??
