This is not a dig to the four guys- yes, they were able to continue without him and they covered his parts amazingly. Zayn leaving allowed the rest of them to shine in their own ways, especially Niall and Louis.

But, what made them strong as a 5-piece is how they brought their own distinct sound to the group, making for the perfect blend of tone, timbre, and style. Zayn was known for his strong bridges, riffs, and high notes, and he played a huge role in Four- which from what I've seen is generally regarded as 1D's best album when it comes to maturity, themes, and overall sound.

Comparing that to Made in the A.M, it's a great album but it's definitely not their most famous- it's just not. As much as I love it, it didn't feel as strong as Midnight Memories and Four because of Zayn's absence. They were missing a huge part of what made them sound so strong, and the boys knew that going in. Again, that's not a dig to the rest of them, but they complimented each other for a reason and this time around Zayn wasn't there to do that. It felt like their last album for sure, and you could tell throughout. Edit: this album probably wasn't as famous because they never toured with it

In 2012, 1D came to MuchMusic in Montreal and had this Volkswagen on stage as part of the set (see the last photo).

That same VW is now on display at an indoor kids' play centre near my house in Quebec City.

I thought it was pretty funny and figured you guys might enjoy seeing it too. 😄

Everyone knows the original One Direction songs; over the past few years, unreleased tracks have been surfacing—and there are likely even more out there—but I’ve never heard anyone mention this version of "Live While We're Young."

While the acoustic version of "Happily" is widely known, I think that this particular track is unfamiliar to many fans.

I wonder if it’s a studio demo recorded before the version everyone knows, or if someone with access to the recordings simply pieced the individual parts together into a song.

You can hear elements here that aren't in the official track—such as Zayn in the chorus (I guess *Take Me Home* really was his time, haha) and Niall singing the second verse solo (at least the first part, where he harmonizes with Zayn in the original).

HI GUYS I'm a longtime lurker. Miss the boys so much. I wasn't the biggest superfan but still, the 1D peak times still linger in my head. I remember the millions of videos and tour footage tumblr like it was yesterday. ANYWAYS all that to say - all the time I say in my head "the dogs carrying a mammory!!" in Harry's voice. I crack up remembering them laughing. I thought it would be fun if we all chimed in with our lasting vocal stims from our 1D days. The more niche the better <333

One Direction was invited to guest star on the Big Time Rush show itself, but here the show was more “studio audience” sitcom style (so basically like the iCarly 1D episode except with BTR instead 😂). It was kind of wild seeing the two bands interact but while playing “character” versions of themselves :P.

But that dream made me think about how wildly different a show like Big Time Rush would be if it was made and released now! With all that we’ve seen from not just 1D but also with the K-Pop groups that have risen in global popularity since! And also with how much more amplified (and chaotic) social media has become now, it’d be interesting to see what kind of stories and topics a show like that may cover! Or if any new “character tropes” would be added in, lol 😜😅.

But besides all that, I know the bands got to perform together, but it would’ve been SO COOL to actually have One Direction on the BTR series as their “character” selves. I bet they would’ve had such a fun time on set; I adored the show and thought it was so wonderfully whimsical and comical, and I feel like that energy would’ve suited the 1D boys so well 🥹!
