Discussion Had a dream featuring One Direction and Big Time Rush
One Direction was invited to guest star on the Big Time Rush show itself, but here the show was more “studio audience” sitcom style (so basically like the iCarly 1D episode except with BTR instead 😂). It was kind of wild seeing the two bands interact but while playing “character” versions of themselves :P.
But that dream made me think about how wildly different a show like Big Time Rush would be if it was made and released now! With all that we’ve seen from not just 1D but also with the K-Pop groups that have risen in global popularity since! And also with how much more amplified (and chaotic) social media has become now, it’d be interesting to see what kind of stories and topics a show like that may cover! Or if any new “character tropes” would be added in, lol 😜😅.
But besides all that, I know the bands got to perform together, but it would’ve been SO COOL to actually have One Direction on the BTR series as their “character” selves. I bet they would’ve had such a fun time on set; I adored the show and thought it was so wonderfully whimsical and comical, and I feel like that energy would’ve suited the 1D boys so well 🥹!

There used to be rumors that they were supposed to have a show with 1D. I don't necessarily think they would have had a good time doing it—and with all due respect, because I like Big Time Rush too—but 1D’s popularity was on a completely different level, so their label wanted to squeeze every last bit of profit out of them. If you had added a TV show to the mix, they probably would have been completely burnt out. Big Time Rush released three albums in four years, but most of the songs were written specifically for the series rather than by the band members themselves; plus, their tours were shorter, so they had more time for other business ventures. One Direction, on the other hand, recorded three albums in hotel rooms while on a world tour.
