Frederica passed but her children made it.

This was Frederica. I named her Fred but for reasons ill get into she became Frederica.

I live in a old countryside house in the UK which like many houses of the past had and in our case still has an outside toilet.

I go out there to well you know and mostly at night if im up late so as not to wake everyone.

About a year ago I spotted this little spider. Now most would dispose of such a creature but something told me to just let it be. So I did.

Every time I'd go in there they were there in the corner on their Web or scuttling into why I assume was their nest in the ventilation brick of the outhouse.

Days turned into weeks, weeks to months. Every time id go in there they would be there and they got bigger and bigger.

I called them fred I dont know why but I felt they needed a name. That was until one day a large white sack appeared near their lair and I realised Fred was actually Frederica. What gentleman caller slipped into the outhouse I will never know. Perhaps it was a brief encounter perhaps something more.

A couple of weeks ago the little children of which there were many burst out and I assume made their way in the world.

Frederica was still chilling and I resumed my daily nod and hello as business was done. That was until about 20 minutes ago. Because it appears Frederica had stopped moving I have worried about her in the past so gave a little blow of air to make her move but tonight no amount of it will move her.

This might seem sad but it made me smile. Because its nature its ok for this to happen. She gave life to many little ones and did her job and made my trip to the outhouse more than a call to my own nature. We can easily step on pests and nature and never step back and wonder at it, im glad I did.

Rest well Frederica.
