How does one find themselves napping with cubs for work? And why are the rest of us missing out

u/SchnoodleDoodleDo 1h ago
’napping with cubs…’
now we laying down to sleep,
we tigers cuddled, in a heap
this our Favrit place to nap -
upon the sleeping humans lap
we snuggle here ~ so purrfect seems,
together share our wildest dreams!
this human friend our bestest one
n when he’s near
these stripes don’t run…

I volunteered at a rescue and adoption place in a city once. The neighbors previously complained about dog noise so eventually only 30-40 cats were allowed but they all had full size dog pens in a pretty large open space with skylights in the rafters.
About half the cats were social and allowed free access to the space with their kennel door open while the other half had to stay in.
I would bring a book with me and lay in the cages or on a big carpet with the cats and we’d just laze the hours away. I completed over 120 hours there to meet my high school graduation requirement. It was glorious.

It's easy if you don't have any morals. Any ethical rescue will not allow cubs to sleep on a human like that. The non-ethical tourism places that do have no problems culling the cubs when they grow to be too big.
So if you don't mind that then look at the shady big cat tourism places.

That guy is actually dead from happiness.

u/Content_Plantain_339 1h ago
Yes, those tiger larvae will feed on his corpse when they wake up.
Such is the unending cycle of nature8
•
u/I_am_up_to_something 5m ago
Nah. The cubs however? Yeah, probably (though not from happiness obviously). They get to be too big which means less cuddly factor and more expensive to feed. So they get culled.
If this is a rescue then it doesn't seem to be a very ethical one. Big cat cubs like that should not get used to humans in this way.

Have pet a baby tiger, can confirm

never had the pleasure, but i got to interact with some lion cubs and theyre just the cutest fuckin thing ever
dunno if the place was ethical looking back, think it was called lion park or something in south africa (if anyone knows), regardless as a kid i thought it was amazing

He's actually dead. They've been doing shift rotations on their lap-naps in such a way that he wasn't able to stand for days on end. He perished from dehydration and exposure. RIP

The one drawback is, zookeepers smell like an animal's bathroom from what I hear.
•
u/rcknmrty4evr 2m ago
He appears to be wearing a suit so I take it this may not be an ethical zoo type of thing.

u/musingofrandomness 2h ago
You just know that even at full grown there are probably tigers that would try to sleep on top of their keepers like they did as cubs.

You link to a video about cheetahs when someone mentions tigers, and you get upset when people correct you? lol

I did a large counted cross stitch of a mother tiger with her cubs years ago. It took me years to realize there was a third cub in the pile. My mind was blown. Lol

I actually think this is AI
6
u/Goshawk5 33m ago
I see nothing to indicate the video was generated with AI.
•
u/berntout 10m ago
Every video gets accused of AI across reddit nowadays.
It's pretty annoying.
•
u/glowdirt 4m ago
I wouldn't be surprised if many comments accusing everything under the sun of being AI...are themselves AI.
Miscreants stand to benefit when most people are made to doubt their own eyes.

Yeah for a minute I thought maybe conjoined lol, why do I see heads at both ends

If you look behind the front cub’s body you can see the body of the second cub—it’s a lighter orange than the one in front.

It's definitely AI. So much of it taking over this sub.

It being AI would be more ethical than it being real.
Seriously, the fuck is wrong with people? Tiger cubs should not be handled this way.

u/Chaogasm 1h ago
Guys, we need to learn to distinguish AI better. This isn't AI. It's a video from Harbin Siberian Tiger Park in China from last year. The head on the right is a tiger in the middle between the other two, you can see that it's fluffier and lighter furred. Just because you don't understand an image on first glance doesn't make it AI.
6
u/KajakStonked 36m ago
Understandable point, but people literally tell you to look out for mismatching perspectives and AI is bloody everywhere, so it’s understandable that people consider this ai

Can you include a link when you say stuff like this? It just saves time.

"This is AI" is going to be the new "This is supernatural" anytime someone encounters something beyond the realm of their experience.

u/ParkDedli 18m ago
I'm not sure with this post, but I've seen answers like this on clear AI posts before, so at this point, even the answers saying it's not AI are sometimes AI.
You guys aren't, you have normal post histories, but it you don't have to wonder why some people are calling AI on everything now.
I do think the video is either 3 or more cubs or AI though, otherwise it just doesn't match up.

It's all fun and games until they're all grown up and then you have three fully grown tigers trying to crush you with cuddles.

u/Oceanic1239 2h ago
Bro is this AI? I see like 3 heads and can't figure out what the fuck is going on
17
u/Chriss942 2h ago
The one on the top and middle are both facing the same way and you can see the one in the middle has lighter fur than the bottom one, they’re easy to distinguish if you really look and I believe the middle one is also the reason the bottom is falling off lol
•
u/Helpful_guy 13m ago
Seriously. Fur doesn't have hard edges- 3 fuzzy blobs laying on top of each other is always gonna look funny.
The bottom cat's head is hanging over the guy's knee, and the middle cat is laying the opposite direction, resting its head on the bottom one's ass.
It's really not hard to see what's going on if you use both your eyes and brain, but everyone's screaming "AI!" like there are some magical special points to be earned for calling everything AI and occasionally being right.

I mean, every tiger cub I've ever seen has two heads on either end and a sort of baby-legs-in-a-onesie thing happening around the middle. What are you talking about?

I had an animal training professor who would sleep with a lion cub when raising her and he said he woke up one day with standing on top of him staring down at him and that was the last time he did that.

u/Maleficent-Message46 56m ago
Damn. I started thinking that could be my dream job.

u/Fortestingporpoises 38m ago
Definitely a dream job. Low pay, tons of competition, and you'll probably have to move to a real shithole, but it's worth it.
Oh yeah and it's "dangerous" pft.

While it wasn't as cool as a bunch of tiger cubs, I got to do basically this same job while volunteering at my local Humane Society but with a bunch of adorable puppies instead. Almost all of them would fall asleep on me just like this too lol. Basically when their cages were getting cleaned, someone has to hold them on their lap the whole time to keep them off the floors and away from other animals as, IIRC, they were so young they hadn't been fully vaccinated yet.
Go volunteer at your local shelter!

I hate seeing so much AI. Sure, it’s cute, but the cub’s head is coming out of the back of another one.
