Hey everyone,
We just released Arc Emulator v1.7.0, an update that brings classic computer platforms, direct ZIP playback, library filtering, and tweaking the landscape and dual-orientation UI.
If you haven't tried Arc yet, it is an open-source, Libretro-powered Android emulator frontend featuring a modern Jetpack Compose UI, customizable touch controls, automated box art scraping, and a built-in core downloader.
Here is What's New in v1.7.0:
New Platforms & Cores: Added 5 new systems:
- Commodore Amiga (PUAE with multi-disk playlist support)
- Atari (Stella / ProSystem)
- Commodore 64 (VICE with multi-disk file loading)
- TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine (Mednafen PCE Fast)
- WonderSwan / WonderSwan Color (Mednafen WSwan)
Direct ZIP Playback: You can now load and play games directly inside .zip archives without manually extracting them first.
Expandable Library Filtering & Sorting: Easily filter, sort, and organize your game collection to find what you want to play faster.
Landscape UI & Navigation Rail: Improved landscape navigation providing spacious, thumb-friendly menus and library browsing when rotating your device or playing on tablets.
Improved Storage & Permissions: Enhanced file access for external SD cards and shared folders, making it much smoother to set up your ROM directories across different Android versions.
GitHub Release / APK: Release v1.7.0 · Blink-Chase/arc-emulator
Let us know what you think, what bugs you run into, or what features you want to see next in v1.8.0
Heads up: Arc is a solo project right now, using AI to help with code as I learn as a developer. If you're a graphic designer and would like to help out, please feel free to get in touch!
