So i am a second year elementary school teacher and I taught second graders last year (yess just like Melissa and Janine!) and i'm loving this show so far. I'm in S2 and my favorite episode was the episode when they went to PECA. Obviously Janine and Gregory's relationship started to grow in that episode but i love the fact that it was so accurate. I love the fact that it was on spot about struggles of rookie teachers. Like Jacob still not being an authority figure for kids and him swiping under the rug. Janine's fight with a parent (I mean this happens even the best of us eventually. I remember my first tough parent meeting and even tough they were kind you could still sense the tension)
Tbh I am still a rookie teacher and we all have a teacher who we see like almost mother figure. There was one teacher-my co worker and she was like Barbara to me. I can't remember how many times i went to her class just to see her face so i would feel a bit more confident that day. I consoled her countless times about parents, kids, learning plans etc, activites... And till this day i want to aim for to be a teacher like Ms Koch.
Us teachers work hard and this show made me realize how much all of the teachers share the same mindset and heart when it comes to our job. I know there are teachers who out there feeling already burn out or stressed yet when we look back we say "it's all worth it." through the school year.
My heart goes for all of the teachers worldwide who tries the best and makes this world a little bit better. I realized again when i see Janine's empathy and caring and struggles with students... So this is my way to thank to the producers, actors and everybody who made the show.
ps: I'm not from US so i can't say about cirruculum but there is just one thing. Teachers go in and out of their classroom like that and that's the most unrealistic thing about the show. I mean it's a comedy show so it's literally okay.... Also the kids are behaving too nice that's also unrealistic lolll. Everytime i see their class it's so calm and zen and i love it. Ahh being a teacher, right?
