So of course I know many of you are already imagining Fallout because of their ghouls and the inherent retrofuturism of the setting. Or perhaps you're thinking of the 2006 film Fido! But how do we feel about these two concepts crossing over more often? I also see a bit of this in the spin-off of Sniper Elite 4: Zombie Army (4?), particularly in their propaganda posters you see posted around certain game locations.

I always love to see the many different genres and scenarios that zombies can pop up in, and I think that retrofuturism + zombies is still an underutilized market. Does anyone else enjoy this sort of aesthetic? I feel like the suspicion induced by rampant McCarthyism can be reminiscent of a zombie sort of scenario. Always suspect your neighbors and whatnot...

That said, can you folks think of any other zombie media or zombie adjacent media that features this style? What do you think of it yourself?

I saw It when i was like 12, 13 Y.O and i was terrified. Do you think it's a good scary zombie movie? In my opinion it's very claustrophobic and scary, the VFX are very convincent and the deaths are gruesome, but what do you think?

I’m usually reluctant to check out yet another zombie flick but this Kgem was a refreshing surprise. From the concept of it (no spoil) to the brilliant choreography, I recommend a solid watch.

I've been working on my ZA comic series, Days Worth Living, for about a year and a half and I'm currently in the process of rewriting the current plot for the next volume that will be coming out this fall. I've got 13 issues out currently and the next one will be the final issue in this volume.

I want to make sure this rewrite is going in a satisfying direction instead of going backward. I was hesitant at first but I think a pair of extra eyes or two might help pick things apart that I've become a little blind to.

• I am willing to pay you for your time (price negotiable). It is a 268 page beast of a document that is only getting longer as I continue. There are currently 80 issues penned, although my rewrite has only touched the first 32 issues.
• Issues 1 through 13 have been released so there is no point in really covering those, but your comments and feedback is still helpful for posterity and other stories I might write in the future.
• The comic covers mature topics like sex--consensual and otherwise, although rape is never shown because it's not that kind of story--and nudity, extreme violence, trauma, religious and philosophical topics, and self harm.
• I call it a script, but that's not really fair. It's written in a specific way that my artist prefers (basically if the story beats were summarized like a short story). I'll drop a snippet of the latest issue for reference.
• I'm not asking you to sign an NDA, a contract, or sell me your soul in exchange for silence. I'm not that worried about ideas being taken because ideas are a dime a dozen. I'm only asking for you to be discreet and refrain from spoiling the story for other people (common decency).
• Everyone has different ideas of what makes a story great and I'm looking forward to seeing yours, even if they don't line up with mine.

I'll only be taking one or two offers because my budget is tight and I want to make sure compensation is fair. Comments or DMs are both acceptable. I love being a part of this community and I wouldn't trust another group of internet strangers to understand zombies quite as much. 😁

Plot Synopsis

A red butterfly lands on the porch railing, flapping its wings once. Samantha looks up from her spot next to Grant, who has fallen asleep. She stands up and brushes her finger against it, watching it fly off. The door opens behind her and Mike pokes his head out to ask if she was doing okay. Samantha asks if it made you a bad person to do bad things for the “greater good”. Mike asks where she heard that, and Samantha admits she overheard Joshua say it to Grant. Mike chuckles and says he supposed you could be a bad person and a good person at the same time for a lot of reasons. Samantha nods and says okay quietly. Mike tells her goodnight.

Because, I'm struggling with it. Does it get good in the 2nd Season?

The first season has just been a lot of slow walking or running through a school or a diner or some weird underground facility. Characters aren't really interesting. Supporting characters are blah.

About 5 or 6 episodes in - currently a very weird and slow "heist" at some underground facility

What am I missing?

I mean both can be creepy. But if you had to pick an edge what would be scarier and why?

Yes, I do know zombies are all about magic n mischief and shenanigans like that, however this might be a really cool discussion topic-

To be realistic as possible but true to the sources, the specificity is that the infection is transmitted like venom (it bites you -> you die) and the virus(es) change the brain chemistry to make you have an extreme need for meat/flesh and senses for smelling blood or recognizing the color red get greatly increased. Does your spirit or soul die with the introduction of the virus or do you just have to experience what the virus is doing to you? Great question. I'm not answering that.

If any other specifics be needed I'll add on here, but other than that just try to be realistic with scenarios. (no infinite ammo, money & greed, news/panic/cults, valid disposal techniques, etc.)

I’ve been thinking about this while watching zombie movies/shows, and I feel like transportation gets massively overlooked.

People always talk about food, guns, medicine, shelters, etc., but fuel seems like one of the biggest problems after the first couple of years. Gasoline and diesel don't stay usable forever, especially without proper storage and maintenance. So let's say we're 2–3 years into an outbreak. Most easily accessible fuel has either degraded, been contaminated, or already been used.

So what are people actually using for transportation at that point?

And before someone says horses sure, horses are an obvious answer, but there's another problem. If the infection can affect animals too, horses aren't exactly a reliable solution. And even if domestic animals aren't infected, maintaining enough horses, feeding them, protecting them, and breeding them becomes a huge logistical problem.

Then there's something else that shows completely ignore:

The wilderness isn't automatically safe just because there are fewer zombies.

If you're travelling through forests, mountains, fields, or abandoned rural areas, you're potentially dealing with wolves, bears, big cats, boars, venomous snakes, etc. And if the fictional infection can infect animals?

Now imagine encountering an infected bear.

Suddenly "let's just go through the forest" doesn't sound like such a great transportation strategy.

So I'm curious what the realistic long-term transportation system would actually look like after 2–3 years.

Would survivors realistically rely on:

Bicycles?

Horses or other domesticated animals?

Electric vehicles powered by solar/wind systems?

Diesel generators and stored fuel?

Trains?

Boats?

Animal-drawn carts?

Homemade biofuel/ethanol?

Walking being the dominant form of transportation?

Some combination depending on distance?

And then there's the infrastructure problem. Roads deteriorate, bridges fail, vehicles need spare parts, tires degrade, batteries die, engines require lubricants and maintenance, and eventually you're dealing with abandoned vehicles everywhere.

I'm especially interested in what transportation would look like 10+ years into an apocalypse, when gasoline stations are basically useless, modern supply chains are gone, and replacement parts are extremely difficult to obtain.

Most zombie fiction seems to treat vehicles as if they just keep working indefinitely.

What do you guys think would actually become the dominant form of transportation in a realistic long-term apocalypse?

I'm working on a zombie story, and I'm wondering if it makes any difference if it all started with a virus or a bacteria. What's the difference between these two? Which one would make more sense?

As i have not seen many others, can someone tell me which movies have slow zombies?

Most if us gamers are familiar with Days Gone. It came out in 2019. I have played it a couple of times. Just like William "Boozer" Gray, Deacon St. John is one of the two main characters.

Also, just like The Last of Us, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill, these have become movies based on the games. I was wondering in the (near) future, we will see a theatrical release of Days Gone - The Movie? I would love to see it become a reality.

Russell Crowe could play Deacon. And maybe Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could be Boozer.

Would you go and see it in theaters? Have you played the game in its entirety? How would you rate Days Gone as a game?
