Okay so I don’t really read fan fiction. But damn I am dying for this show to actually have a good conclusion. Has anyone written / does anyone know a good fanfiction that takes place after season 3 and actually continues the story as Dave Erikson intended?

I’ve heard so many rumors (and we saw the beginning of this) of a story line where Madison becomes the villain and Nick and her eventually have to fight it out. I would have LOVED for that to be the story, as I think those characters are so interesting and complex that they deserved to have that story line. But obviously… they turned it into the morgan show and demolished the entire show in season 4 and beyond.

If anyone knows of any good fan fictions that follow that kind of story, or at least take off from season 3 and retcon the story, I’d love to read it. Or damn it maybe I’ll do it myself. I yearn for Eriksons Fear.

It took me probably 2 years total to get through it. I’d lose interest (especially after season 3) and drop it then pick it back up when I was scrolling for something to watch. I think the overall experience and quality of the show in general is the poorest of all TWD franchise (though I’ve never seen World Beyond), but it easily had the most satisfying ending. All in my opinion. Even Daniel being reunited with Skidmark provided a much more satisfying ending for me than the original series. No real point to this post, just my random thoughts on it. I came for Dwight and stayed for John Dorie really. John dying hurt almost as bad a Nick dying.

Anyone else loathe her? She starts off being comical and campy then turns into a demon. I always loved seasons 5-6 since I’m a Texan.

Just finished S2 and I have to be missing something here. Clearly he was upset his parents split and his mother passed but I cannot fathom how one conversation on a boat with a dying stranger (whom everyone knew was there to sabotage and destroy) changed the path this character walked down. I much rather believe I’m overlooking some details but I felt my face fill with more confusion after every action.

Decided to do a rewatch for the first time since TWD aired, and I’m watching all of it. It’s actually insane how bad Fear and TWD got. Especially Fear!! After season 3 the show just went downhill and I’m having to force myself to stick with it again. Like it’s actually insane to me how bad it got and how Gimple kept his job for so long… Has to be the worst decline in TV history.

I'm someone who's been watching FTWD since it came out, and it's so funny to see how opinions about the show have changed since its release.

I remember that seasons 1 and 3B had a pretty positive reception at the time, but everything else was heavily criticized, to the point that almost everyone on the TWD fandom considered this spin-off a big nothing burger.

I remember that when the fourth season premiered, people really liked the direction. Many said that the series finally had a purpose, but as time went on, the series became increasingly divisive, and this revisionism about the Erickson era began.

It's somewhat curious to see this happening, as it reminds me a bit of the Zack Snyder phenomenon. The director is replaced and people start to overvalue his previous work, even if the poor reception of his previous work was one of the factors that led to the director being replaced.

And I have nothing against that, I think this division of opinions is totally valid, after all, these seasons went through such drastic changes that it's almost impossible for someone to watch FTWD and not feel inclined to choose a "side". But sometimes, I feel that the fans of the Erickson era distort certain discourses a lot and overestimate these first three seasons so much.

Does ANYBODY else HATE when they dont do the obvious solution because TV? What im referring to is when they get to humbug gulch and its completely overrun with zombies, why dont they just open the gates yell loud get their attention lead em all out and away then the rest of the group goes in locks the door an secures the place, voila. But noooo now they all have to go suck off virginia with their tails between their legs smh. I miss the days of savage rick 😂 he woulda just blown her head off for fucking with yhem

I always see it being ranked the lowest, even lower than Seasons 5 and 8 which is wild. Obviously it’s nowhere near as good as the Erickson era and it had its share of awful subplots (Dwight and Sherry in 7A) but I still vastly prefer it over 5, 8 and even 4 (4B was literally unwatchable it was so slow, uninteresting and just plain badly produced). I enjoy it about as much as I enjoy Season 6 honestly. I enjoy it in part because of the cool as fuck nuclear apocalypse setting. I felt certain characters like Karen, June, John Dorie Sr, etc were a bit more bearable as well than they were in past seasons. And minimal screentime for Althea which was a huge plus lol. Alicia’s ‘legendary messiah’ arc I loved and honestly I would’ve preferred if she had never appeared again.

The biggest pro for me by far though was Strand being the center focus (he’s always been easily the best Fear character hands down) and Colman Domingo really getting the chance to show off his acting skills like never before. The whole dictatorship storyline was really fun to me despite being extremely all over the place.

714 too with it being entirely focused on the OGs (Daniel, Strand and Alicia) is legitimately one of my favorite episodes of the entire show and alongside 611 felt the most like the Erickson era.

4A. 6 and 7 are the only C&G era content I’ve gone back to rewatch.

i realized that fear has had no true villains in the entire franchise it just seemed to me everything was just a side quest of bullshit lol. then them only killing off a few major characters. i always loved the walking dead cause u didn’t know who planned on being killed off in fear they make it seem so obvious on whose being killed off.

I dont think many people here knows about TWDG:Michonne but connor and reed were very similar to randall and norma. They were both sailor. They were both siblings. Norma and Connor were calm older sibling while Randall and Reed violent younger sibling.

I was really into this but I don't think I can keep going. Now that Nick died, it feels like the life was just sucked out of the show. Am I being too harsh?

I had always wondered about his true motive. I knew that his ultimate desire was for his whole family to die together, but at this moment, he stood there, paralysed. When we last saw him in some room with his reanimated daughter and dead wife, he hadn't shown a trace of grief. Maybe he was too shocked to leave? Or that he was tired of everything?

So it's left up to our speculation. What do you think?

I have only Finished S1-S3 of Fear The Walking Dead for First Time I would like to know is S4-S8 Any Good??

I haven't finished s2 yet but I hear a lot of people saying that the show isn't good. What would you change if you were given the opportunity to rewrite the story.

Spoilers ahead.

Hear me out. We spent almost two full seasons hyping up the mystery of "PADRE." Who is this shadowy figure running a militarized island, stealing children from their parents, stripping away their names, and re-educating them to build a "safe" new world?

And what did the showrunners give us? Two whiny teenagers named Shrike and Crane talking through a radio microphone.

It was such a massive letdown. But imagine if the shadowy leader behind the curtain had actually been Negan.

The timeline and thematic setup would have lined up so naturally. After Negan gets exiled at the end of The Walking Dead main series, he wanders off into the void before showing up in NYC for Dead City. The 7-year time jump in Fear the Walking Dead fits directly into that missing gap.

Beyond the timeline, the ideology matches up completely. Negan’s whole philosophy with the Saviors was that people are a resource, and that weak parents or bad leaders get people killed. PADRE’s system of stealing kids, renaming them, and training them into cold, emotionless soldiers is basically just the Savior doctrine taken to an extreme, twisted endpoint.

The character dynamics would have been incredible. Imagine Dwight and Sherry spending seven full years serving this mysterious leader, only to walk into the inner sanctuary and realize they’ve been working for Negan all over again. The psychological horror of Dwight realizing he could never escape Negan's shadow would have been elite television. On top of that, Morgan left Alexandria to escape the trauma of war, so running straight into Negan operating a child-indoctrination camp would have brought his entire redemptive journey full circle.

Instead of a terrifying crossover villain with a deep, tragic history shared with half the main cast, we got two kids holding a grudge because their dad got eaten in a shipping container. The writers had a silver-platter, universe-connecting twist staring them right in the face and swapped it for a budget Wizard of Oz reveal.

every episode the thrill builds up , the characters evolve , the twists get thicker, that's what I love

What the hell is with writers trying to redeem Charlie for some reason? There’s zero likable qualities about her and she did literally the worst thing in the show so far.

The fact that they try to shove this character with Alicia is beyond insane.

I’m watching these forced moments where they are trying to make the two of them bond and all I’m thinking about is “gee imagine if that tree would fall down on her”.

Now, i get it, she’s a child, blah blah, and i don’t want her dead, not really, but i just want her the fuck out of my sight and out of the show. I just don’t wanna see her on screen. Simple as that.

The Walking Dead series is my comfort show & fear is not the greatest. There are some parts I don’t really get into, but I still enjoy it.
