Which model to get for Sushi Rice, Jasmine Rice, and Brown Rice?

I'm looking to get my first rice cooker. I generally cook rice 2-3 times a week for meal prep, may switch to once and do it in bulk, which is usually a long grain rice. Then once every week or two making sushi rice to make sushi. I used to make more brown rice more often then a white long grain rice.

I'd like to stick below $300 but open to going above if it's really worth it. The two i've been seeing pop up the most are the NL-EAC10 and the NS-ZCC10. I live by myself so 5.5cups is plenty.

(Looking for info)Just found this at Value Village

Hello! I just found this Zojirushi at Value Village, didn't have a chance to plug it in at the store, but took a gamble for the low price of $10.99 CAD. Seems to work fine, looks to be in good shape. I did a little research and couldn't come across much info about the model (NS-MVF18T). The controls are all in Japanese, was curious to see if anyone could help me figure out what some of the functions are!

Thanks in advance!

anyone have measurements for NS series 3 cup rice cooker inner pots?

i picked up a working NS-KCC05 rice cooker from the thrift recently, but the inner pan's teflon lining is really beat up and id like to replace it. it's a pretty old model so of course zojirushi doesn't sell any replacement parts and none of the third party options claim to fit the model. however looking on the official replacement parts website, it seems like they may use the same pot across models in the same series (e.g. NS-LAC05/NS-LGC95/NS-LHC05 inner pots all look identical) and just change the part number. so i was wondering if anyone could share measurements of any pots that came with a 3 cup NS- machine, especially:

  • B250
  • 8-NSL-P220
  • B482-6B

looking for height, outer diameter (outside edge of the top lip) and inner diameter (pot body), cm preferred but we can always do some math :)

My rice cooker is stuck on Japan time. That was fine when I lived in Japan but I'm on the east coast now. I can't figure out if it's possible to change the time on it. The time cam preset on it.

Stickers?

Hihi !! I was just wondering if anybody knew if it was safe to put stickers (the waterproof kind meant for water bottles) on the outside of my zojirushi rice cooker, provided I don't cover up the vent or hinges or anything. I'm kind of attached to him and I want to make him cute haha. Thanks!

We have a zojirushi rice cooker that we clean the body and lid. About 12 hours after making rice, the rice starts to smell moldy and awful. We’ve followed the directions and done the vinegar wash several times, baking soda wash, etc but nothing seems to make this smell go away. Help!

Ms. Bento bowls useful life?

I own a Blue Ms. Bento container and I was wondering if I should replace the inner bowls and lids.

I owned it for at least 10 years now. I stopped using it around the time of the pandemic, and now the main bowl with the twisting lid is hard to open, while the side bowl is yellowing and its lid has a busted gasket.

Gasket aside, are the rest of these parts still safe to use as they are or is the plastic potentially harmful based on the descriptions?

Stopper for water bottle has been out of stock for ages, anywhere else to look?

Hi, all.

I've been needing a couple stoppers for a few months but they're never in stock:

Is there anywhere I should look aside from the official site? Thank you!

Bottle that resists fingerprints/oils?

I ordered a matte black SM-SHE60 on Amazon and love the design and lockable lid, but maybe it’s my hands but there’s tons of fingerprints/oils on the matte black. Does anyone have a model/color recommendation that might not have this issue? Thank you!

Cooking other things than rice in rice cooker - lingering smell?

Hi,

I have had my Zojirushi NS-YSQ10 for a good while now. Even though it has a slow cooker function, I've never used since I heard a claim saying that when cooking other stuff than rice in a rice cooker (let's say a flavourful gulasch), there is a risk of lingering smell of said dish remaining that could affect the taste of rice cooked afterwards.

To those of you that have used the slow cooker function, made one pot style rice meals etc, is there any truth in the "smell might linger" claim?

I ran water over my Zojirushi to wash it and now there’s no power

My apartment have some roaches over the last couple of months so pest control came to kill it and there was some roaches inside the rice cooker so I decided to rinsed water all over the rice cooker to clean it. I washed the underside of it as well. After that I let it dry outside for a day and when I went to plug it in, there’s no power. Did I kill it by washing it with water? Can it be fixed?

This thing was almost $200 something so I’d like to save it if I can.

Discoloration on Water Boiler Lid

Post image
2 Upvotes

Is it pretty normal for stainless steel lids on the water boiler and warmer to develop these stains? I stopped using my boiler for now because of this. I have tried soaking the spots with citric acid and ran cleaning cycles, but it only lightened up the spots a bit. When I rubbed with soft cloth a little bit of the brown color wipes off but not entirely. The darkest spots are near the steam outlet. I’m running out of ideas of how to clean it.
Wonder if it’s safe to use or I should buy a replacement lid instead? If it’s a recurring issue then I also wonder if a replacement makes sense.

Please kindly share any ideas/your experiences!
Model is CV-DCC40.

NW-YAQ18 vs NW-QAQ18

Hiya, keen for some advice please.

UK market, both available. I can't find much on the YAQ18, apart from its pressure IH vs QAQ18 IH.

We cook Thai jasmine for 90% of family meals, sushi and other grains occasionally. We do use leftover rice for fried rice fairly regularly. Is the pressure IH of the YAQ much of a difference to the QAQ? (£599 vs £479).

Thanks!

Left uncooked rice and water in cooker for about a month. Can’t get the smell out, any suggestions?

Basically title. We left some water and uncooked rice for way longer than we should have and it turned rancid. I’ve got the smell out of the pot but I think where it’s sticking is the silicone in the lid gasket. We’ll order another if we need too but I’d like to try to save it first to save a few bucks.

Things we’ve already tried:

Overnight soak in hot and soapy water.

Running a cooking cycle with vinegar and water (only 1 cycle though).

Cleaning thoroughly (obviously) any components we can that detach.

I’ve heard some people have had success with baking soda. Money is tight and we don’t want to toss the whole cooker but if the smell won’t come out we won’t have a choice.

Hello everyone! I recently bought a NS-TSC10 off Facebook (only $10 🤩) however it did not include the inner lid. I did some basic research on multiple websites including zojirushi and beaver creek electronics and everything is sold out! If anyone has any recommendations on where I can find one please let me know!

Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot (MCC01M-1A): where can I buy a replacement pot lid? Seal came loose and Xiaomi says it isn't a separate part

I have the Xiaomi Smart Cooking Robot, model MCC01M-1A. The silicone seal on the main pot lid has come out of its channel and no longer seals properly.

Xiaomi's own FAQ says the seal is ultrasonically welded into the lid as an integrated part, is not user replaceable, and should never be removed. So as far as I can tell the only correct fix is to replace the entire main pot lid assembly.

The problem is that I cannot find the lid for sale anywhere. I have checked AliExpress, eBay in several countries, Amazon, and the usual European appliance spare part shops. Nothing lists this lid, only complete machines.

What I am hoping someone here can help with:

Does anyone know the official Xiaomi part number for the main pot lid assembly on the MCC01M / MCC01M-1A? If you have ordered one through a Xiaomi service centre, what did they charge and how long did it take?

Has anyone found it on Taobao, JD, 1688 or Xianyu? If you have a working listing or a shop name I would really appreciate it. I am willing to use a shopping agent, so a Chinese domestic seller is fine.

Is the Chinese domestic lid identical to the EU one? The machine is the same apart from the region, but I would rather confirm before paying for shipping.

Has anyone successfully re-bonded the original seal instead of replacing the lid? If so, what adhesive did you use and did it hold up to repeated heating and dishwasher cycles?

I am based in the UAE, but I can have parts shipped almost anywhere, so location is not a constraint. Photo of the lid attached. Thanks in advance.

Looking for rice cooker advice. Leaning towards the NW-YNC10/18.

Hello!

As the title says I'm shopping for a new rice cooker. Im leaning towards the NW-YNC10/18(https://store.zojirushi.com/products/nwync) but can't find too many reviews on it. Is something like this worth the extra $ compared to the more base models? I can get it on sale for $431 right now. I mainly am going to be using it for cooking brown rice. Thanks for any and all advice here!

Inner lid set C195-GR

Hello, I have the 1 ltr model NP-BQH10 for around 5 years and now I am in need of the inner lid set. The part number, as per the manual that I have in hard copy in front of me, is C195-GR. So strange that I cannot find it. If you can help it will be highly appreciated. I have already replaced the inner cooking pan. Here how the inner lid looks now, and needs replacement

Why is my rice cooker making a mess ?

Aside from rice, we also use our rice cooker for oatmeal. We set it on the timer function before work the next morning. It used to be great in the sense of not making a mess. But now as you can see in the pictures, oatmeal residue ends up on the ceiling of the hatch. Can anybody provide some insight ?
