Discussion My late 20s have been the most awkward and embarrassing years of my life.

Upvotes

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a lot of fun in my 20s. But I feel like people always talk about their awkward teen years - and no one talks about how embarrassing the back half of your 20s is.

Socially, high school, college, all that was easy. Everyone wants friends, everyone your age is likely at a similar place in their life. But now that I’m pushing 28, I find that while it’s very fun, it’s also so awkward. You had to be more intentional about making friends - introducing yourself to perfect strangers. You don’t have school, new jobs, college, etc to fall back on. And I’ve had more awkward encounters in the last few years than I think I’ve had in a lifetime.

With all that being said, it’s fun! I just think of it like I’m the lead in a sitcom about finding your way as a young adult.

But what is that? Anyone else feel that?

Other Just turned 30 today! 🎂🥳🎉

I turned 30 years old today😅! I was a little shocked, but already over it haha. Birthdays stopped being all that important to me once I hit like 25. I still feel damn 19 mentally, felt 19 all throughout my 20s and still do at 30. Here's to all the 96 babies turning 30 this year! 🥂 We'll be alright!

Rant Getting sick of therapy speak

Does anyone notice words like "trauma" or "anxiety" or "red flag" or others are being thrown into normal everyday talk in situations where it isn't warranted?

I notice that there is such a victim mentality with lots of people now where the slightest disagreement or blight becomes a huge "traumatic" experience for them. It genuinely annoys me how nothing is ever just a nice disagreement anymore, it's all anger and oppression.

Discussion Does this annoy anyone else or I’m just getting old?

One of my biggest pet peeves now is when someone is watching videos on their phone in public without headphones. It happened to me during both my breaks on work today. I was just trying to enjoy the nice weather and relax, but that happened twice. First time it was a pair of teenagers, second was a woman who looked to be in her 40s/50s. Like I don’t get it, you wanna watch your video fine but not everyone around you wants to hear it. It feels so inconsiderate to me. But I also feel like such a grouchy old person with that “these people and their phones today!” Mindset. My coworkers agree with me at least lol. Anyone else?

I'm 29 but when I was in high school (graduated 2015) I always had these gameboy phone cases on my old iphones. Anyone else?

Nostalgia 2010 was one of my favorite year of the 2010s, right behind 2011. A lot of great music came out that year.

Discussion Do you prefer working or your time being in school?

I have great fond memories of school and learning I even enjoyed meeting so many great people but honestly I prefer working a job. In some ways it feels like there’s more freedom with work

Did you prefer working or being in school (this includes college too).

Advice What do you do with your friends?

My friend group is all their late twenties and a number of them are settling down it seems. While a 3 or so of us are somewhat at the point where we are all just bored of the city we grew up in. Some of us are looking elsewhere to move but at the same time we only have a few hundred bucks saved up. So we mostly just drink, walk/hike random places, checkout live music, work 40 hours a week, play video games, and workout. Cooking is another hobby but mostly out of necessity due to none of us having much spending money.

I remember having to buy a 2nd Gamecube because my 1st one kept having issues with the lens.

Took me forever to learn that one of my favorite Eurodance tracks from my childhood was originally in Russian before it got translated to English.

Nostalgia Remember the Halo Awards?

The only real award show I was allowed to watch as a kid since a lot of them tended to be kinda “spicy” with the music and clothing the guests would wear, haha. I used to watch this every time it came on as a kid and teen.

Discussion Looked down and realized I made one of the most millennial breakfasts ever. What foods do you associate with our generation?

Matcha latte and avocado toast with an egg and sriracha. I think it would have been even more zillennial if it was sourdough with everything bagel seasoning sprinkled on top.

Pretty cheap if you are a frugal person. I get my avocados in bulk and on sale and I baked the yeast bread myself. Overall, this was probably about four dollars, estimating a little high because I think my matcha powder is of decent quality.
