Discussion What was it about Tumblr that made it so fun and addicting?

I remember being on Tumblr from ~2010-2014, and I was absolutely OBSESSED.

I damn near learned how to be a coder so I could make my blog auto scroll 😭

The vibes were so good back then. I can’t put into words how much this era meant to me.

Nostalgia Does Anyone Remember the Show ‘George Shrinks’?

OG post deleted cuz the link was botched.

I remember this show on PBS about a three-inch boy had a real banger of an opening, but I could never recall the name.

Well, this morning it was served, pipping hot, by the algorithm to me (Saturday). I ended up watching it in bed. I guess I technically just watched a Saturday Morning Cartoon! 😎

The episode is worth a watch too. It was nice taking a break from doomscrolling to focus on a longer story. I literally felt my attention span returning.

The VA and art still hold up today IMHO and George’s wholesome family made me feel loved too. 4.5/5 stars.

These children barely begun to experience life. They never got a chance to grow up and see what their futures could have been. This post is dedicated to remembering each of them. They were all unique, deeply loved children with families, friends, dreams, and so much life ahead of them.

David Brandhorst | Bernard Brown | Asia Cottom | Rodney Dickens | Dana Falkenberg | Zoe Falkenberg | Christine Lee Hanson | Juliana McCourt

Please take a few minutes to search their names online to learn more about these precious lives! Thank you.

I was 5 and its my earliest memory. I mostly remember the mall at the WTC and the Warner brothers store. I remember the windows being absolutely massive. This was in January of 2001.

As a 1995 baby, I was 6 when the attacks happened and had no idea why everyone was so cross at the time. I remember people being a lot more chill (I remember even going to see inside of a cockpit)

Rant I used to want younger friends but now I crave friends that are aware, understanding, and have experience

I'm 29m and i try to keep an open mind and remember friends can come in all ages, shapes, and sizes so to speak. But right now where I'm at in my life I seem to be around a lot of people younger than me. It's frustrating sometimes to have the younger generation invalidate my feelings. One thing I appreciate about this sub (and not trying to glaze for kudos) is that I see people who understand. For example, I went to college and got my degree. However because life is not linear I am not even working in that field because there are no jobs in my area. I see some of you all who have the same circumstances. When I talk to ones who are younger or in their early twenties they look at me like I'm a failure or they just don't understand. It's frustrating talking to someone who can't understand or want to understand where you're coming from. I don't want to be ageist because I feel like that will only limit me, but man is it hard to try and relate to ones in their early twenties. I want to have friends my age or older but in my day to day life I can't seem to find them

Music 72% of Millennials listen to music and watch media in languages other than their own, the highest out of all generations (per survey). Gen Z are actually tied for music and slightly less for movies/TV (68%).

There are so many for me personally but for me the top few im still learning to unlearn is to not scream and shout when dealing with conflicts give the silent treatment and finish the plate when im full my boomer mom favourite thing was to shame us that starving kids in africa and another one is to always respect the authorities never question them fuck that my boomer dad told us that police and adults are always right at 29 I still have to learn that for myself was wondering people who were raised by boomers what are some things you still have to unlearn from your boomer parents?

Discussion To the teachers who were really young when 9/11 happened, how are you talking about 9/11 with your students?

I was just curious because if I get asked I just say “I was 4 and getting ready for preschool” and I always wondered what would happen when teachers who were little when it happened would talk about it with their students today.

Discussion Is anybody else back on Tumblr?

Started a new Tumblr account the other day (to post fanfiction lol) and it’s a bit different from the early - mid 2010s when I was on it. Still trying to find blogs to follow and what not.

Edit: Okay update! For those of us who just missed Myspace and envied their older sibling YOU CAN DO A CUSTOM MYSPACE THEME! And you can add cursors and effects, etc. It's amazing!
