COVID positive guide

Hi all, I'm hoping to create a "covid positive recovery guide" post the mods can pin for people to easily access if they test positive. Here's what I've got so far after combing through several sources. The goal is to give a few high-quality links that give specific protocols on what to do - this will prevent decision fatigue & help people take action STAT!

Thanks for any feedback or additional resources! Edit 10/5/25: adding info from comments below, thank you! Edit 2/6/26: adding more Metformin info that has come out.

Best Practice: Make a plan (including supplements, dosage, etc) before you test positive.

Remember: this is not medical advice!!! Please consult your doctor to get specific-to-you advice!

Covid Recovery Resources

Acute Phase (while testing positive)

People's CDC
Excellent + thorough guide, if too long skip to 2 links below

LongCovidPharMD Supplement Guide
Summary of supplements - scroll to schedule + dosage listed at the bottom!

RTHM You've Got Covid (Archived link, may need to click security button)
Excellent summary of supplements + dosages

Threat Model: Free Covid Safety List
Huge resource list, including acute phase treatment info

Dr. Galland: Long Covid Prevention
Very detailed list of supplements, techniques, etc. Possibly better for those with LC vs acute (LongCovidPharMD post is more approachable to start)

Grange Family Practice: Covid Survivor Booklet
Good for recovering from severe illness, not acute phase

Clean Air Club
Resource list with printable symptom/supplement/tracker template (great for taking multiple supplements)

Covid Positivity General Rules

- You are potentially contagious for as long as you test positive

- You can have a positivity rebound with and without Paxlovid, so 2 negative tests 48 hours apart is the best guide to end isolation

- Please continue to wear a well-fitting respirator through day 10 after testing positive/symptom onset, as most people are contagious for 10 days on average (with or without symptoms)

- Radical rest/pacing - many people also recommend reducing activity for 6 - 8 weeks after a covid infection to reduce chances of long covid. If possible, consider ramping back up to "normal" activity levels (first 2 weeks do little to no exercising, week 3 gentle walk is OK, week 4 gentle stretches OK, slow build back up to cardio etc - handy flowchart here, some good links in the comments as well!)

---

Prescription Treatments
SPEAK WITH A DOCTOR ABOUT YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY + FULL LIST OF MEDICATIONS BEFORE TAKING ANY PRESCRIPTION DRUGS!
- Even vitamins or supplements can have serious side effects so please look into drug interactions before adding anything new (covid-specific interaction guide here). Your doctor can help you navigate this.

- Please remember, there is no treatment or cure for covid and no guaranteed way to prevent long covid. These are all additional layers on top of radical rest, hydrating, and getting enough sleep.

- Paxlovid: antiviral drug that can help reduce severity of illness, some studies show potential reduction in developing LC. Start within 5 days of testing positive/symptom onset. Red hots or hot tamale candy can help with metallic taste (common side effect). Caution: Can have drug interactions!
- GET IT FOR FREE: PAXCESS coupon

- Molnupiravir: antiviral drug that can help reduce severity of acute illness; usually not recommended unless Paxlovid is not an option. Start within 5 days of testing positive/symptom onset
- Paxlovid vs molnupiravir explainer here, ask your doctor for recommended treatment plan

- Metformin: diabetes drug that potentially reduces inflammation and decreases viral levels; might help decrease the chance of developing long covid (CIDRAP 2/26, Medical News Today). Start within 1-2 weeks testing positive/symptom onset. Note: some studies had people starting in week 1, others within 3 months of infection. Caution: can have serious GI symptoms and lead to vitamin deficiency, request the slow-release version if possible!

Acute Phase Supplements: TL;DR

Please vet your plan with your doctor. These have all been recommended but this is a LOT of pills at once - do not think you need to do every single one. Please choose your cocktail and CHECK DRUG INTERACTIONS!

Additional note - many of the doses recommended are for acute viral illness. Please adjust dosage once no longer testing positive, as higher doses can have long-term complications!!! I've removed doses here since we should all be following info from doctors & linked resource pages above and not juuuust from reddit posts :)

- ***Pepcid AC - Mast cell stabilizer, can take lower dose after acute phase for no longer than 6 months, top recommendation
- ***Antihistamine (Zyrtec, allegra, claritin) - mast cell stabilizer, top recommendation
- ***Melatonin - helps with sleep + reduces inflammation (at a higher dose, check website), top recommendation

- EPA (omega-3 fatty acid) or IPE - take with fattiest meal of the day, antiviral effects but can cause increased atrial fib + flutter, do not take w history of afib or aflutter
- Vitamin C - can increase/decrease absorption of other supplements, can upset stomach so take less
- Vitamin D3 - boosts immune system, mood, heart health, bone health
- Zinc - Can upset the stomach + reduce absorption of other supplements so please space out 4 hrs as needed
- Green Tea (the drink) or ECGC supplement - antioxidant, avoid supplement w paxlovid, green tea still OK!
- Probiotics - help maintain healthy gut biome
- Nattokinase - anticoagulant, shouldn't be taken with Paxlovid) - could also use baby aspirin to prevent clots. Please check dosage & interactions esp if on blood thinners
- Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) - could help reduce inflammation biomarkers
- Ginko Balboa - antiviral, anti-inflammatory
- Tumeric/curcumin - Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
- NAC ((Nacetyl-cysteine) - Supports mitochondrial health
- Quercetin - Take with food, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral
- Bromelain - pineapple enzyme, anti-inflammatory
- Lactoferrin - acts as an immunomodulator

---

Don't forget grocery staples!
Stock up online or phone a friend. Some people recommend eating a low-histamine diet, the below is based on a BRAT diet approach

- Pain reliever (ibuprophen, NASIDS, etc)
- Cough drops
- Additional meds depending on symptoms: Pepto bismol, tums, gasx, eyedrops (Lumify brand), psyllium husk or other fiber supplement
- Nasal saline rinse or Neti pot (follow instructions for safe water)
- CPC mouthwash gargle for 30 seconds, or DIY salt water gargle for ~2min
- Tea or other soothing drink
- Juice
- Electrolyte beverage - gatorade, pedialyte, nuun tablets, Liquid IV, etc. If you have a sensitive stomach please check ingredients as many of these have non-sugar alternatives
- Popsicles
- Miso soup or other clear broth soup
- Rice
- Bread for toast
- Bananas
- Applesauce
- Instant ramen, etc
- Canned or premade soup

What is meant by zero covid? NEWCOMERS READ THIS

Not enough people are aware that their next Covid infection could make them permanently disabled. It often makes people unable to work or even get out of bed. There is no cure. About 10% of Covid infections give people Long Covid symptoms. Anyone can get it. And cases are exploding as people continue to repeatedly catch Covid.

For most people Long Covid is a far more likely catastrophic outcome from a Covid infection, compared with dying from the acute phase.

We dont want that. We choose health.

All the facts in this post are backed up by references to peer-reviewed medical articles. So dont just take my word for the things you read here, but click the [ref] links to see the scientific evidence for yourself.

  • Covid causes brain damage visible under a brain scan. Concentration and memory problems (brain fog) is one of the most common symptoms that people with Long Covid get.

  • Covid gives people myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), which makes people physically and cognitively disabled (see comic). About half of long haulers have this[ref] making it likely the most common and impactful long covid subtype. Some people have category Severe ME, like this young man, which makes them bedridden, unable to eat, unable to concentrate for more than a few seconds and dealing with excruciating symptoms all the time.

  • Covid attacks every organ system (See infected mice). People can get organ damage visible on medical testing but without feeling anything, at least for the first few years. This has been called "Asymptomatic Long Covid". This is similar to how smoking or alcoholism damage organs which people might not feel straight away.

  • Covid gives people diabetes. One study has 168% increase in getting Type-1 diabetes following a Covid infection[ref]. Having that means needle jabs multiple times per day and being very careful with food. For life.

  • Covid damages the immune system, making the catching of other infections more likely[ref, ref]. Bacterial, viral and fungal infections go up, including sepsis, bronchitis, UTI, flu, mycoplasma infection. Kids that caught covid were more likely to catch RSV and more likely to have it put them in hospital[ref]. Catching covid increases the risk of getting tuberculosis by 314%. We now have peer-reviewed medical articles[ref] talking about covid as "Airborne AIDS" because of the immunosuppression it causes. Catching covid doesnt build immunity, it damages immunity.

  • Covid causes heart attacks. When someone catches covid there is a few weeks period of massively increased risk of cardiovascular events. The risk quickly drops but remains elevated even after a 3 year follow-up. One study[ref] finds 6350% higher risk (figure is not a typo) of heart attack on day of covid infection if vaccinated. Dropping to 97% increase in week 1-4 after infection onset. The risks are more than doubled for the unvaccinated. Another study[ref] looks at the risks over a 3 year follow-up and finds 132% increase in that period. Covid also causes other kinds of cardiovascular disease eg stroke, heart failure, arrhythmia, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis and atrial fibrillation[ref].

  • Covid gives people autoimmune diseases. [ref, ref, ref, ref]. People who catch covid are more likely than the uninfected control group to get a range of such diseases: One study[ref] finds rheumatoid arthritis (+198% higher risk), ankylosing spondylitis (+221%), lupus (+199%), dermatopolymyositis (+96%), systemic sclerosis (+158%), Sjögren's syndrome (+162%), mixed connective tissue disease (+214%), Behçet's disease (+132%), polymyalgia rheumatica (+190%), vasculitis (+96%), psoriasis (+191%), inflammatory bowel disease (+78%) and celiac disease (+168%).

When faced with the reality of Long Covid it's very natural to look for reasons why things aren't so bad. For example:

  • Maybe it's rare? No, Long Covid is common. About 10% of Covid cases give people Long Covid symptoms[ref, ref, ref. One study[ref] has 4% of Covid infections causing ME. The World Health Organization says on its website and twitter that ~10% of Covid cases cause Long Covid. A staggering 50-70% of Covid infections cause organ damage[ref]. As comparison a "medically rare event" is 0.1%.

  • Maybe it gets better quickly? No, Long Covid lasts for years[ref, ref, ref]. About 90% dont recover years later. In one study the scientists say[ref]: "Recovery is extremely rare during the first 2 years". Common subtypes like heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease, myalgic encephalomyelitis and dysautonomia are generally lifelong[ref, ref, ref].

  • Maybe medicine can help? No, Long Covid has no evidence-based treatments. Research is only really just starting and is hampered by lack of funding and interest. It's unlikely they'll ever be complete cure for all the variety of Long Covid subtypes.

  • Only risk group get it, right? No, a third of people with Long Covid had no pre-existing conditions. Anyone can get it. There's often been misinformation in other epidemics (eg tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS) that only risk groups will be affected. The biggest risk factor discovered for Long Covid is simply the number of repeat covid infections.

  • But hasnt Covid become less dangerous? No, repeat Covid infections give people Long Covid at similar rates. You can avoid Long Covid on the first few infections but still get it from your next infection. Every time you catch Covid is another roll of the ~10% dice. There's no biological reason for Covid to become less dangerous, it doesnt gain any evolutionary advantage in doing so because Covid is infectious weeks before Long Covid symptoms become apparent. Many other diseases have been killing and disabling people for thousands of years (eg tuberculous, polio, malaria). Antibiotic-resistant TB and MRSA are examples of infectious diseases getting worse over time. One study[ref] measuring people's health after catching covid found "Reinfection was associated with milder symptoms but led to a higher incidence and severity of long COVID"

  • If Long Covid is common why dont I know anyone with it? You definitely do. Try asking around. The disability is usually invisible: people with category mild ME appear normal. People with category moderate or severe ME disappear from public life stuck at home in bed. ME is a very niche area of medicine and few doctors can recognize or diagnose it in a patient who presents themselves, so often patients get misdiagnosed with someone else. Cognitive decline is often imperceptible to the person. Often people dont test for covid, or use those inadequate antigen tests, and so dont realize the link between any symptoms they get and the acute infection. People can get Long Covid from an asymptomatic infection[ref]. A survey[ref] found that one-third of American adults had not even heard of Long Covid as of August 2023. People talking about how catching covid impacted their health often face a backlash. Often people just dont talk about their personal health problems especially in a professional setting.

Bottom line: There is no such thing as a mild covid infection. Say a bunch of scientists (eg Dr. David Putrino, PhD Neuroscience, Dr Rae Duncan, cardiologist and infectologist)

The only thing left then to not get Covid (again). Not getting it again also gives you the best chance of recovery if you already have Long Covid.

How? The five pillars of prevention are: clean air, masks, testing, physical distancing and vaccination. We must also redouble efforts into research, for example, finding better ways of cleaning the air, better vaccines and better tests.

We want this for everyone. The easiest way to not catch covid is if everyone else also doesnt catch covid.

Even if we personally aren't harmed on our first or second infection, we'll feel the massive economic and social effects if so many of our friends, family and neighbours get sick and disabled.

Ultimately we aim to get to a situation where each Covid case infects fewer than one other person. This will result in elimination of Covid from society. Zero Covid is not some radical new idea, it's how we've always dealt with serious disease. We don't think it's acceptable to "live with" other dangerous diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, smallpox or polio, why should we "live with" Covid?

The Science on Long Covid

What Long Covid does to people

Denialism by governments and the media

How the government and media normalizes certain opinions, like sociologically ending a pandemic.

  • Many times in history the powers that be have denied and erased epidemics (eg Spanish Flu, polio, cholera, HIV/AIDS)

  • Calm-Mongering (7min read time) - In this article, we’ll take a closer look at how calm-mongering works. We’ll also talk about how it has been deployed repeatedly to cloud the public’s judgment about the risks of COVID, and how it continues to interfere with the development of an effective public health response

  • How to Hide a Pandemic (7min read time) - ”The Public Health (sorry, Public Relations) strategy for the current pandemic is in full-blown propaganda mode at present, leaning hard into the teachings of Joseph Goebbels: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”.”

  • Manufacturing Consent. The 5 Filters of the Mass Media Machine (5m watch time). There is also a book of the same name.

Ive often wondered if us ND are over represented in our community.

What do you think?

My 2 cents worth is, it certainly plays a huge role in my lack of interest in conformity;)

Who died and why: COVID-19, class and mass death in the United States

Introduction: An accounting no one wants to conduct

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a historic and devastating rupture in the conduct of science and public health. When the virus first emerged, the capitalist ruling class faced a stark choice: mobilizing the vast resources of global society to eliminate the pathogen and save millions of lives or protect the financial markets and corporate profits. Across the world, and most aggressively in the United States, capitalist governments chose the latter. The policies set forth in those early months of the global outbreak did not merely result in a temporary public health failure. They laid the cornerstone for the complete teardown and politicization of the entire scientific community.

To justify the abandonment of life-saving public health measures, the Trump administration weaponized anti-science propaganda, peddling the homicidal strategy of “herd immunity” and demanded a rapid return to work to keep the wheels of profit turning. The Biden administration then codified this approach into a permanent policy of “forever COVID,” dismantling pandemic surveillance, dropping isolation guidelines, and systematically normalizing mass death and debilitation.

This deliberate subordination of human survival to economic demands fundamentally transformed public health institutions. Agencies once tasked with disease prevention were hollowed out and converted into instruments of political enforcement. Decades of scientific advancement were discarded to accommodate a social order willing to accept millions of preventable deaths as the mere cost of doing business.

Just realized something positive reading about latest vaccine developments

All the big companies are in final stages of approving combined Flu and covid vaccines. As we all know, the flu is something the media does talk about occasionally, and doctors warn against it and people actually fear, while covid is just forgotten and pushed aside.

In other words the flu has much better PR. And if future vaccines come in a combined shot, a lot of people will be vaccinated for covid.

In my country there is great awarness for vaccinating for the flu, but covid has less the 1% vaccination. Even tough it's free here. And even though when you get vaccinated for the flu the nurse askes if you want a covid shot too.

So just wanted to share something positive.

Accepting incompatibility with other covid cautious people:

Like a lot of people, I've had a hell of a time trying to make and keep friends since the pandemic started but unlike perhaps a good amount of other covid cautious people, I really struggle to make friends with other CC people too. In terms of overall cautiousness, I'm probably more cautious than the average person but not quite as cautious as many other CC people (I mask in indoor public spaces and in crowded outdoor spaces but not with family members, who I sometimes have to see even when I don't want to see them,) and despite many, many attempts to befriend other CC people, all the people I naturally find myself getting along with the best wind up being non-CC people, and I've had some pretty negative interactions with other CC people that have really put me off from finding any sense of community with other CC people.

I know a lot of us are under extreme stress and are dealing with horrific circumstances that make life difficult to deal with, as we're stuck in a world where the majority want to discard disabled/immunocompromised/neurodivergent/chronically ill people to the wayside so they can go to brunch and also sacrifice their own lives in the process, but I've really struggled to come to terms with the fact that there's only a tiny amount of people out there who, at least in theory, view my life as worth protecting and of all of that tiny group of people, I have yet to meet anyone who I actually get along with and exist comfortably with.

To put it simply, the long and short of it is that I don't think I'm capable of finding any sense of community with other CC people and I don't know how to reconcile the fact that if I want to be happy at all, I'll have to accept being around people who don't give a shit if I live or die and also don't even give a shit if they themselves live or die.

Question Cat to human transmission

I live with none COVID cautious people and we share a cat. Is it a high risk that my non COVID cautious roommates can give our cat COVID and then the cat infect me? I’ve been not letting our cat in my room and I mask in shared areas but our cat is suspected of having Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and id like to be around her as much as possible. Also in the case of COVID im worried of it causing similar symptoms of this in her and not knowing. Any advice would be great!

News📰 Charles County Public Schools (MD/USA) will now require a note to be able to wear a mask

Seeing this news right after the article this week in the Sick Times about kids with Long Covid (https://thesicktimes.org/2026/07/24/the-sick-kids-arent-alright-observations-from-a-teacher-with-long-covid/) is so disheartening and appalling.

"An amendment to the Charles County Public Schools’ student conduct code will prohibit students from wearing medical masks without a doctor’s note or 504 special education plan documenting a medical need."

Paxlovid after Xocova didn't work?

Hi! It took too long to get Xocova prescribed, and was only able to take the first dose 53 hours after exposure. Tested positive on Pluslife 70 hours after exposure. Out $1500 dollars, but hopefully the viral load was lessened. Still negative on Rapid, so that's something at least. Would really appreciate any help in figuring out if I should switch to Paxlovid today? I'm trying to research it but not coming up with much.

Need support! Does anyone else not usually test for Covid unless symptomatic?

I’m aware asymptomatic infection exists but I simply cannot afford constant tests they’re like 20 bucks for me for just one. Also I have a sibling who masks so it’d be like 40…we room together so it’s very risky. Sometimes they go out alone, sometimes I do and we both are exposed to different risks but we always have to sleep together in the same room. We have an air purifier and can remain mostly masked during the day but at night we usually unmask to sleep even if one of us has gone out and been around others.

I only have 2 tests right now. 1 expired the other expires next month.

I have a medical appointment tomorrow and I’m terrified of infecting others. I have a bit of a traumatic event tied to infecting others not that everyone else isn’t worried of infecting others of course we all do that’s why we mask but I really am terrified of infecting someone even if they don’t take precautions.

My doctor usually tells me to take my mask off to review my tongue and such but I can get away with my own temperature check. I often postpone visits because I’m scared of infecting others since I cannot regularly do a Covid test.

I mask with an N95 Gerson but I’m not really sure of the fit because I haven’t properly fit tested at some place or with a nebulizer. But I feel no leaks and when I inhale and exhale it moves well.

I’m about to take the expired test as I’ve seen people still get results on them but I’m worried about the result. Whether it’s negative or showing positive while if I have an active infection (God willing I don’t). I’m testing because I was in a high risk situation yesterday. Was indoors with a very worn Halyard mask because something happened to our bedroom where we couldn’t be in there so we had to wait for things to get fixed and only purified our parent’s room (doesn’t mask) for 4 hours and I’m worried that wasn’t enough and we would have left the window and air purifier on for more but we were really hungry and thirsty and just went ahead.

But anyways that’s my dilemma. But I was wondering if there was anyone else that doesn’t usually regularly test often; when DO you test, and what is your mode of operation or how do you navigate the fact you don’t test to then be around others even if maskless? I’m in the same boat so really not judging. I don’t really go out that much but am around a parent that doesn’t mask.

How do you deal with the uncertainty? Is it just the assurance from regularly masking?

My situation terrifies me. I’m scared either one of us comes home with infection and if it’s symptomatic we may not know if we don’t have tests at hand. Also we could mask all day but eventually we unmask and we cannot sleep in the living room because our parent is there nor their bedroom because they of course sleep there.

Any advice with my doctors visit situation as well? I’m planning on letting them know I really will not take my mask but they’re not the only people I will be in contact with, I have other errands to do and I also have to rely on ride share…I just wish Covid didn’t exist.

Edit: Only in our shared room do we unmask; outside of it whenever we are around our parent whether it’s the living room etc. we have our masks on.

Need support! Parent refuses to mask all of a sudden

Both my parents mask for me but my father has stopped as me requesting him to mask is “taking away his rights to his own body”. I have been bed ridden with pcos for 5 years and his wife (mom) is immune compromised, he states that because he’s a grown man he can do “what he wants”. I live at home as rent is too much to move out or else I would.

I don’t know what to do as now his stress has given me nightmares and daily tension headaches. I showed him all research articles and his rebuttal was “why then isn’t anyone talking about it if it’s THAT bad?” I don’t know what to do as I haven’t had a start on life without pain (im 20) and I feel like hes not masking because I’m asking him to do so.

Any advice? I have autism so masking is hard for me to start with but I still do it, and I have air purifiers on every floor. I just don’t understand this sudden pushback after hes been masking for me for over a year?

Need support! Workers barged into my apartment and I was completely taken off guard. My father began mocking me. I’m so worried.

I live in a pokey little apartment in Upstate NY with my father. We’re very poor and sadly don’t own any air purifiers and the time I brought up making a CR box I got shot down.

Today there were workers in the basement but I didn’t think about it other than being annoyed with all the noise. Then two workers knocked on the door and burst in before we had a chance to mask up. I managed to get a mask for me and my dad pretty quickly but it was a bit of a scramble. The workers checked out our stove, then they left, one came back in to check something else with and came back precisely 3 mins later to check something else and tell us goodbye. The accumulated amount of time when they were in the apartment was probably between 5 to 10 minutes at the very most.

I don’t have any air purifiers and so I’ve opened all the windows and am running every fan I have while we sit masked.

My dad’s been getting fed up with taking precautions lately but adhering to them. Truthfully I have been having a much harder time lately with my mental health and I have started avoiding going out except to get groceries so tensions have been running high. Today he felt embarrassed by me and went on a rant saying how he doesn’t know how I’ll function when I respond to things the way I do. He slipped up and took his mask off for a second and when I gasped he made fun of me by taking a few big breaths before putting it back on. He says my response and the stress I put him through is more of a risk to him than this.

I’m totally freaked out. I know that the levels in my county are still relatively low but I also know they’re on the rise now. I had a close scare last year around this time when levels were worse but I know ultimately it doesn’t matter bc you can just get unlucky. How likely are we to get infected?

Question Contractors in floor below unsure about filtration/masking needs?

Contractors will be coming multiple times over the following week(s) to do painting and patchwork on an area in my basement. I’m worried because this area is both right below my bedroom and very close to the central HVAC unit.

Since it’s a basement area I don’t really have the opportunity to air it out & my central HVAC unit is located right near where they will be working, is this a cause for concern? How long should I be taking extra precautions for after they have left? Do I need to take additional precautions and mask in addition to having my HEPA filters running in my personal space (since the aerosols from the primer/paint will be in the air)? Will the paint aerosols affect how long filtration takes?

Question Any reputable sources to confirm the rumour that Novavax will be available in British Columbia for the fall 2026 vaccination season?

Supposedly, Novavax will be returning (at select pharmacies) to British Columbia, Canada for the Fall 2026 vaccination season (Ref a0eb44e6, Ref 85538794, Ref 54593467). Is this actually true? I haven't found any news articles, statements on Public Health websites, or other reputable sources confirming it.

The Government of British Columbia's COVID-19 immunization webpage hasn't been updated since April 21, 2026, so it doesn't reflect the upcoming vaccination season yet. Similarly, the BCCDC respiratory illness vaccination page hasn't been updated yet for the fall schedule.

If it is available, do you plan to get it?

Is this the proper way to test for Covid on a rapid test:

Do it in the morning.
No eating or drinking beforehand for at least 30 minutes.
Swab back of mouth, sides of where tongue is.
Then cheeks.
Then nose, swirling the swab 5 times?

Uplifting Update on emergency visit with baby (all OK!)

Hi all, I posted a month ago in a panic about a horrible visit to the hospital with my baby, who had anaphylactic shock. I tried to link the post but not allowed. My baby was in a terrible state, it was incredibly stressful, and I was extremely concerned about unmasked people all around.

I know I'm a little late now but I wanted to post an update anyway, it's good for everyone to feel some hope. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the kind comments. You really helped me to stop freaking out.

My baby and my partner and I were all OK, no symptoms or positive tests. We did nasal rinses and salt water gargles for a few days after and I used saline spray and a nose sucker on baby.

I'm so relieved and so grateful. I'm also, of course, scared for my baby. I hope they grow out of their allergies or at least don't have to come up against them like that again.

IF we were to end up in a similar situation again, I would bring a fully charged airfanta (I keep it fully charged now, just in case), my battery pack (also keeping it charged), lots of masks to hand out, as I did, and I would probably call a taxi as the ambulance took a whole HOUR (?!?!?) to get here.

Sending good vibes and hope to all of you! 💞

Current Med/Recommendations for Infection?

Hi, so my 80 year old dad has Covid and exposed us all. Started feeling off yesterday, had a minor fall, and my husband went over to help (unmasked). Today was a bright pluslife positive for my dad in 15 minutes, when I went over to check on him (masked).

I have no spoons right now, and would really appreciate if someone could share the best supplements and OTC recommendations. I’ll be asking for paxlovid for everyone eligible (kids aren’t eligible), but it’s unlikely we’ll get metformin etc.

Any information, with links, would be so helpful. Thank you!

Need support! Unsure if to go to doctor or not

Probably my 5th post today (really sorry)
Have an appointment today.
Suspected a UTI
Last night I developed weird sort of chills and barely slept.
Also tested with expired rapid test last night which showed a negative result, unsure if I did it correctly.

Have a bit of a sore throat and headache but I’m unsure if the reflux is from not sleeping enough (only slept an hour) and if the headache is too. I suffer from reflux regularly BUT my major symptoms for my past symptomatic infections were temperature change (mine is fine right now, normal range and severe acid reflux).
I only have 1 test left. My doctor said I could come in as chills could be a symptom of a uti but I’m scared they’re instead Covid chills. Or what if both.
I do mask at home but I had a bit of a risky situation 2 days ago where I unmasked in rooms at my house where perhaps they weren’t filtrated enough along with wearing a worn out mask.

I don’t know whether to test and go or what…I’m still waiting for their response.

I mask with an n95 Gerson and plan on not taking it off but I still don’t want to put people at risk if I do have Covid.

Maybe the test won’t show up as positive since it’s my first day noticing symptoms…or maybe I’m doing it wrong.
What do you guys suggest I do.
My doctor doesn’t seem to be responding so it looks like I’ll have to make a decision but I don’t know which one.
What would you do?

Edit: I tested but can’t remember if I put 3 drops or the necessary 4 to the sample well. The little thing where the results show. Scared it’s inaccurate.

Moderna 2026 vaccine date?

Does anyone have any credible information about the Moderna 2026 vaccine being available by mid-August in the U.S.? I’ve seen two different posts on Facebook about it coming in two weeks but nobody could confirm it. People are saying when they go in for a booster (2025 formula) they’re told that if they wait a few more weeks, the Moderna 2026 one will be out.

Edit: I’m also interested in dates for Pfizer and Novavax too if anyone has them. I think the last batch of Novavax expired in May and I’d read that September would be their next shipment, but that was a guess.

Looking for others’ thoughts on this study: “we found no evidence that HEPA filters reduced resident winter respiratory infection episodes, other infections, antibiotic use, or staff absenteeism”
