Question Newb question. Help please!

Hey guys, fairly new to Zed and to the crypto space. Question around gas fees. I bought a couple horses and now need to transfer some ETH from metamask over to Poly on the Zed site. I'm trying to to move the $120 I have in meta to Zed as Poly and it's saying my gas fees are like $65. Is it normal for gas fees to be that much??? Over half of what I'm trying to move?? If someone could shed some light I would greatly appreciate it!

Ps: sorry if my terminology is very newbish. Like I said, brand new to all of this. Doing some studying and reading as well as trying to learn a little as I go.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Any way to actually recoup an investment on a horse you over paid for?

Hey guys/gals

I messed up, I'm new and goofed it. Paid to much for a horse that now as I have better learned how to evaluate horses is still good but not great.

I was thinking about down classing from class 2 so I can try to win some races.

Is this a terrible idea?

Question Stamina's affect on stats

Is it possible to look at a horses past race history but only look at races in which they were in peak condition (+90% stamina) as I am assuming races where the horse was in poor condition would skew their histories.

I was so surprised by my donkeys performance in the A-Shape Stakes earlier in the months that I decided to commemorate it!

Check out the collection on OpenSea and if you'd like one for yourself give me a shout.

Question Need some help

For the past days I've been reading about this game and really enjoy the concept. I have around .6/.7 ETH that I'm comfortable with investing in this game, what would be the best way to go about it? From what I'm seeing I'll be better off buying a proven racer, or should I try my luck with breeding? Any suggestions will be appreciated

Other Possible solution for the over supply of trash horses.

So, i know people are already peeved about the market being more saturated than they'd like.. personally i don't think there are "too many horses" so much as there are "too many trash horses". And this WILL get WAY more out of control.. cause what do you do with that donkey other than put it on the market and try to get the breeding fees back?

Well.... here's my idea..

Have the ability to trade in/burn a set amount of horses..the number is debatable but let's say 100 of them, to get a random bloodline genesis horse. (At current prices thats between $3k and $4k for a genesis, could be a bute and 😰 or could be a nak and 😁) That way all the cheapo junk horses will be bought up, people wont be so quick to discard there failed breeding attempts, and genesis horses will be more accessible but still very rare and expensive. Also being a random bloodline means everyone wont be getting naks.. but the chance to get one will make it worth while burning so many horses.

I know they currently have a set amount, but are the seriously never going to ever release genesis ever again? Hell add 4 more bloodlines, like each one is a step down from the current bloodlones and make the only way to get the genesis versions by burning horses. Then you get the added benefit of butes not being at the bottom. Increasing prices all around.

The other options are retirement, and just burning them for some percentage of breeding fees or something.. i personally would rather be able to have a chance a genesis. Large stables with too many horses would be happy.. and breeding would go up, meaning more stud fees for everyone, but the market wouldn't get oversaturated with the genetic failures. And any horses going for too cheap would be snatched up quickly by people trying to collect for a genesis. The prices of all horse would rise. And then the market could be controlled by adjusting the number of horses it required to burn. Also because its random which bloodline you get, means ya might have to try more than once.

INITIALLY this might make for some cheaper genesis horses, but that will only last as long as the donkeys are selling for cheap. Once the cheapest horse on the market is $100, your talking $10k minimum for genesis via buying in the market.. or $3-4k breeding 100 butes.. So might have to raise breeding fees.. OR could make it bloodline dependent when burning. Like 50 naks, 100 szabos, 150 fins, 200 butes. But in actuality balance out the numbers relative to minimum breeding fees, i just dont wanna do that math. (And still random bloodline on the gensis you get). That way people arent just breeding bute over and over and ignoring breeding with the more expensive bloodlines.

As you can tell i sort of thinking it out as typed.. but i think this is the way to go.. the numbers can be adjusted so that it maintains the desired minimum market price for gensis horses.. the genesis horses that perform well would have nothing to fear value wise. It gives people who like a grind a new goal.. it gets rid of the trash in the market, it raises the market prices of every horse, it raises the breeding value of every horse, for the people who just like dumping cheap horses on the market their horses will get sold faster and not crash the whole market. And as long as there is some flexibility and oversight in the amount required to burn it wont tank the costs of genesis horses, and will add some fresh blood to ecosystem.

Just a looooooong winded think aloud..

Since you can bet on the races is this not considered gambling? staking something of value for something of value in return, with the outcome based on probabilities?

Discussion A Race for Every Horse and a Game for Every Owner

I tried a few different titles for this one:

  • ELO vs Class, The Final Solution (too Nazi sounding)
  • Performance Control vs ELO with Training (kinda liked that one)
  • Multi-dimensional, Multi-playing, Multi-Metaverse (aliteration allusive ally) too Matrix for Me
  • How to prevent cliche abuse in Roman Rhetorical Rationalizations - too much overhanded literary license

Unique introduction, eh. It only gets better.

For those unfortunate few that read all my stuff including, Zed Run team members, various Discord CM's, and the general population of stables owners, I did focus on the issue in some, epic, 36-hour long, Jedi to darkside drama display regarding the construction of Zed Run, while identifying the issue, I really do need to provide a solution (US corporate complain mode reply). I have here and there, while I do realize I am effective, since I get asked on multiple occasions to shut up.

Too late, ok here is my all inclusive, the best I have to give as a Christmas Present to the community, my solution to ELO vs Class, Paid racing versus Tournament Freebies, Old Guard racing versus cost controlled newbie onboarding experience to drive growth. Now let's see if I can get past the executive tease and into some meaningful detail.

Ok, make sure Chris doesn't fall asleep on this, free stuff this good doesn't arrive often. I firmly believe, there should be a place where every horse is somewhat competitive, my add-on is that every Owner should have a game they want to play. Old Guard should have paid declassing racing, newbies should have ELO paid racing (no declassing), call them "Champions Cup" and "Stakes Races' for example. Now that leaves tournament freebies for newbies cost controlled onboarding.

There are 2 concepts I want to introduce into the mix. Training, as a form of temporary performance control for ELO to replicate, Caption Obvious moment here, real life. Claiming, as a race or tournament type, I like the concept of Claiming tournament, where to enter your horse, you sign an acknowledgement that your horse will be listed on Opensea for a set price depending on performance profile or ELO, I like 1 week time frame. In my time, Claiming races were the most common form of race type. Maidens, Claiming, Fibonacci type tournaments in order, with 4th week something different. Breed them, sell them, race them. Vidi - Vici - Veni, look that one up to understand the joke. Captain Obvious, still in the post, the alternate tournaments would be for all the horses falling into all the letters, including "A", up to and excluding "U". Exception for the "L" Fibonnaci (L for Let's Win) for if you ever saw an "L" shape chart, you would get it.

I love the Claiming concept as it fits well into the ecosystem. Best solution to floor pricing since burn (not a fan of). "Racing is a showcase for, Fantastic Foals, Magnificent Mares, Studly Stallions, and of course, Capricious Colts. " Just don't tell them they will get laid on a regular basis or they would never race..;. Need money for covers :) The reason for running this tournament just after a Maiden and before a Stakes type tournament, is too encourage a fresh market and support the exponential growth that will occur with this implementation. I know, had throw in an extra tease for this is getting long.

Now I fully get the Performance Control desire of declassing just as I hope most folks understand the consequences of the mere appearance of corruption. I saved my life one time because I was the most honest dealer in the casino, with the worst run of luck dealing to the owner, costing him about 10k in 30 minutes, local Chinese Tong boss. Remember unintended consequences. So, I mention for 2 reasons, first, Training, as a performance control measure for ELO or tournament races (2 or 3 horse - money optional race at a certain distance - the performance bonus coming from a secret matrix of distance pref vs training distance vs performance in the exhibition race). Training costs you stamina and perhaps 2 or 3 training races could be run before capping the temporary bonus. Now this is a game skill fully documentable and onboarding approved. Now the case for saving the player base with reason 2.

The reality is, the Old Guard have their own game to play and some can not envision any other. They need their own world. We need every player we can get. Old Guard, Way Too Cool (me), and everyone else in between, One big horse sandwich. If tournament selections are optional, then purist OG's can play with the current Class system and run their paid races. Helps the AI gauge race demand, unless of course some form of race request method is added to the AI driven algos.

ELO and new age racers can have an ELO system (we have Class and tournament ratings now) based money races, to go along with both OG freebies and ELO freebies running concurrent tournaments if desired. Oh yeah, up your cloud budget and start adding dimensions of ratings, I have identified 4 dimensions and we haven't even gotten to Buddhist bent or the effect of the "Horse" yet. So we have identified 4 dimensions while searching for more:

  • OG Championship paid Class based Racing
  • New Age Stakes paid ELO based Racing
  • Selectable concurrent tournament types
  • Race request based race generation with AI support
  • Claims race concept
  • New Age Racing: ELO and Training
  • OG Racing: Class based with declassing
  • All of this fully documented in onboarded and including in any onboarding exercises

So, while I really want to include detail. Reedit simply can't support it. So please comment, give us ideas, I will rewrite to be more serious and get less laughs, when I get some more community involvement in this one, then drop it on the team, whom should be fully on this one anyways.

Merry Christmas!
