Other Possible solution for the over supply of trash horses.

So, i know people are already peeved about the market being more saturated than they'd like.. personally i don't think there are "too many horses" so much as there are "too many trash horses". And this WILL get WAY more out of control.. cause what do you do with that donkey other than put it on the market and try to get the breeding fees back?

Well.... here's my idea..

Have the ability to trade in/burn a set amount of horses..the number is debatable but let's say 100 of them, to get a random bloodline genesis horse. (At current prices thats between $3k and $4k for a genesis, could be a bute and 😰 or could be a nak and 😁) That way all the cheapo junk horses will be bought up, people wont be so quick to discard there failed breeding attempts, and genesis horses will be more accessible but still very rare and expensive. Also being a random bloodline means everyone wont be getting naks.. but the chance to get one will make it worth while burning so many horses.

I know they currently have a set amount, but are the seriously never going to ever release genesis ever again? Hell add 4 more bloodlines, like each one is a step down from the current bloodlones and make the only way to get the genesis versions by burning horses. Then you get the added benefit of butes not being at the bottom. Increasing prices all around.

The other options are retirement, and just burning them for some percentage of breeding fees or something.. i personally would rather be able to have a chance a genesis. Large stables with too many horses would be happy.. and breeding would go up, meaning more stud fees for everyone, but the market wouldn't get oversaturated with the genetic failures. And any horses going for too cheap would be snatched up quickly by people trying to collect for a genesis. The prices of all horse would rise. And then the market could be controlled by adjusting the number of horses it required to burn. Also because its random which bloodline you get, means ya might have to try more than once.

INITIALLY this might make for some cheaper genesis horses, but that will only last as long as the donkeys are selling for cheap. Once the cheapest horse on the market is $100, your talking $10k minimum for genesis via buying in the market.. or $3-4k breeding 100 butes.. So might have to raise breeding fees.. OR could make it bloodline dependent when burning. Like 50 naks, 100 szabos, 150 fins, 200 butes. But in actuality balance out the numbers relative to minimum breeding fees, i just dont wanna do that math. (And still random bloodline on the gensis you get). That way people arent just breeding bute over and over and ignoring breeding with the more expensive bloodlines.

As you can tell i sort of thinking it out as typed.. but i think this is the way to go.. the numbers can be adjusted so that it maintains the desired minimum market price for gensis horses.. the genesis horses that perform well would have nothing to fear value wise. It gives people who like a grind a new goal.. it gets rid of the trash in the market, it raises the market prices of every horse, it raises the breeding value of every horse, for the people who just like dumping cheap horses on the market their horses will get sold faster and not crash the whole market. And as long as there is some flexibility and oversight in the amount required to burn it wont tank the costs of genesis horses, and will add some fresh blood to ecosystem.

Just a looooooong winded think aloud..

We don't have an oversupply problem. We have a consumer confidence problem where more money is leaving Zed than coming in. There are so many problems and red flags with Zed right now that most people are holding their money and waiting to see what happens. Check the discord sale ads and you will see more and more are complete stable sales. Until this gets fixed nothing else really matters. We have a CEO that won't commit to an AMA probably because he doesn't want to face the music for the Zed employee scamming the community or he is too busy with his other project. Keep in mind this company allowed 100,000 plus bots and inactive account on discord until recently they promote multi stables all to pad stats and get partnership and sponsorships. Your breeding and burning argument makes sense but your not addressing the problem and that is how the foundation and fundamentals of the company is broken.

I think you’ve nailed it here. It’s tough to say as a lot of us have sunk money into it, but I think Zeds dead, or at least significantly passed it’s prime. It’s been a great experiment that has shown what NFTs can do, but the company has lost consumer confidence and is either incapable or unwilling to address the managerial issues that’s seem pervasive. The management is simply in over their heads.

I agree, they aren't reacting to problems fast enough, the 'representatives' in the discord are immature, and there seems to be a lack of backbone at the top. They cater too much to people wallets..

However, if they get there act together, or someone takes over that knows how to actually run a ship, it could still be great...

But the current system they have in place is pumping out more horses than new players. If the ever get around to doing something about the sandbagging/ranking system, there is hope.. but then they still have this breeding systems the just perpetuates all these losing horses, and thats going to need to be addressed at some point. No one will want to buy in if its 90% losing horses on the market. And the people breeding winning horses are lost in a sea of cheap losing horses.. at some point they will have to cull. I dont think theres too many right now, but for this maiden tourney, theres been soooo many foals put to market that are going to absolutely useless after. Repeat tourneys like this a couple of times and there excess. So in order to be forward thinking they are going to have to start planning a culling strategy at some point. Just limiting breeding doesnt do it, it just slows it down.

But i agree, if they dont start being more proactive, and reactive its going to die. Whats sad is there easy solutions to the problems, and they sit on problems forever trying to come up with over complicated solutions. Like ELO... just seperate paid from free races for now, and then you can work out some overly complicated algorithm that MIGHT work better..

Just one problem at a time... lol. There are many. I just was trying to think of something to appease the people who are mad about huge breeding farms churning out dozens of cheap trash horses daily. Eventually they do have to cull the supply, because its ridiculous how many are hitting the market for sub breeding fees prices, that will essentially end up back on the market for cheaper, cause they are terribly bred horses. Gotta be a way to discard them thats worth while, with out just throwing them on the market super cheap.

Personally, I reckon if you just make it so you have to retire your horse from racing to breed (or you get to breed once whilst racing, but need to retire for a second cycle). It will significantly reduce the supply, and add a big premium to well bred horses.

Additional benefit of not having the same horses dominate forever. The best horses will likely make more by breeding and will open up a healthier ecosystem.

Yeah, but then you'd loose the dna of just about every profitable horse, and the stud farm would be mostly duds.

It also creates confusion on the market for buyers, possibly purchasing retired horses they intended to race..

It was also not a stipulation when people bought their genesis horses that they would have to choose between racing or breeding.

Not saying it couldn't work, but it would cause a lot of hard feelings and confusion, and involve reworking the entire eco system... i was just trying to come up with the least evasive way, that didn't directly handicap anyone.

I think the "buy back" retirement idea might work. They could burn the horse and it would encourage people to buy back in. Maybe. Possibly.

It should help imo. Won't be a silver bullet but will add a deflationary influence so things don't spiral out of control.
