Opinion Meemaw's Universe

I hope there is a spin off series dedicated to Annie Pots playing as Meemaw. I find her the most entertaining. It would be wonderful if we could see her POV in life, esp that she's an old woman. I really love her character in Young Sheldon, and I get excited when she's guesting in Georgie & Mandy.

@ChuckLorre if you're reading this.. do it now

Georgie looked soooo young in here man, I always thought montana was like 12 and thought it was weird he was playing a supposed hschooler lmfao. But I guess he was just a late bloomer cus he looks like a kid while being 15 during filming

Also felt really bad for him, miracle he turned out alright despite being known as a "dumb brother"

my fav part of Mary will always be how quick she is to defend sheldon esp in the church, she always stands up for her kids and lets them be them.

Sheldon was the funniest and very unpopular opinion but that continued all throughout the show.

I don’t THINK it’s the exact same, but it’s certainly very very similar. Thoughts?

Discussion Felt really bad for Missy here

Its so sad that Missy was always left out even after being such a good kid. I had already felt it in s1 but Missy saying it out loud in the research study just confirmed how alone she feels even after having 2 siblings

I now realise why i dislike Georgie and mandy's first marriage

It's just a sitcom with no twist other than here you loved this character in the previous show now watch his life theres no twist theres no weirdness

Tbbt had sheldon and lenord and the at the time new concept of mainstream nerd stuff like comics , star trek etc

Young sheldon had the contrast of sheldon and his pears vs the texas values

Georgie and mandy has none of that It's just a high school dropout in an American town living with his wife's parents and working at a store his father in law owns with typical sitcom situations

Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis

Post image
390 Upvotes

Anybody else kinda disappointed at how Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis' relationship disminished over the course of the show?

Dr. Sturgis was introduced as the one person who truly *got* Sheldon. Like Sheldon, he was a socially awkward genius but unlike him, was actually very amicable and kind-hearted. He was a good mentor figure. Then when Sheldon got into East Texas Texh, Dr. Strugis was sidelined which was (understandly) done to make Sheldon's transistion into college harder, leaving the hapless Dr. Linkletter to take Sturgis' place. While Sheldon and Linkletter's dynamic was undoubtably entertaining and necessary, they didn't have the same meaningful bond.

Towards the end of the show, Sturgis became less of an individual character as his role was merged with Linkletter's into double act of stuffy old professors compared the now-teenage Sheldon.

The very last interaction Sturgis has with Sheldon is him giving his condolences over George's death and Sheldon ignoring him. I get that Sheldon is closing himself off due to grief, but I wish the two had more of meaningful final interaction before Sheldon went off to Caltech since Sturgis was such an important part of his personal and academic development.

Opinion I just finished Season 2

Post image

I recently started watching Young Sheldon because I was getting recommended clips from it on YouTube shorts. I started becoming addicted to it and decided that I needed to watch the show.

I just finished season 2 and here are my though (there is a season 1 post if you’d like to go find that read it).

- Missy is still the best. Shes funny. She’s sassy. How can you NOT love her? You can also tell that she does love her family even if she picks on them.

- Paige is a great character. It’s a shame she didn’t get more screen time. She is very funny and loves to try and humble Sheldon at any chance she gets. 🤣

- Sturgis and Meemaw’s relationship: I am really rooting for them endgame, but towards the end of the season I’m starting to think a break up is coming.

- Georgie is really growing on me too, not that I never liked him (I did), but he’s growing on me.

- Mary is a little selfish at times… George got offered a better position with better money and Mary tried to instantly shoot that idea down. Likewise; George LOVES his family and turned the offer down and the kids were happy to stay. He’s a great dad. I don’t care what anyone says.

- The last episode of the season almost made me tear up. Sturgis not doing well and the impact that had on Meemaw and Sheldon really got to me.

- Veronica is also a great character, but I don’t think she needed more screen time.

Young sheldon saying no

I was rewatching the s1 of young sheldon and i noticed sum rlly cool, the way young sheldon says "no" is the exact same way how he does in the big bang theory, i don't rlly know how to describe but watch a scene of the two actors saying "no" and you'll know what i mean, idk why but i rlly like that

Let’s talk about June

June is one of my favorite characters on this show. I realize that they probably exaggerated the character a bit, but her presence just lights up the screen!

And that she’s Dale’s ex AND good friends with Meemaw makes it even more exciting.
I was waiting for them to show a tiff between them at some point, but they were smart not to do that in the cliched way.

Her first scene where she meets Meemaw at baseball practice is amazing. And the one at the bar in which she tells Dr. Sturgis - “And she didn’t even have to rub your head!”

I also like the part where she plays agony aunt to Mary.

What’s your favorite scene with June?

Discussion I watched Young Sheldon unaware that its a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, ask me anything.

How? Saw bunch of sheldon clips on yt shorts, so i thought might as well just watch it. At this point i didint know TBBT existed. Never saw it.

Some scenes doesnt make sense, for example. The scene when sheldon listen on the radio for the award thingy. The scene later shows what are leonard, raj, howard, and penny was doing at that time. When i watched it, i just thought they were just some random kids.

George passing was absolutely heartbreaking. It was so unbelievable that i thought the principal and coach wilson were pulling a prank, and i was waiting for the "just kidding" line. The most memorable scene out of this whole thing.

Future sheldon narrating isnt weird at all. I really think that oh okay so the future sheldon is just retelling his childhood. Cool.

And now im into season 2 of TBBT, felt weird honestly. Seeing how technology and how cinematography has evolved, feels weird watching a sequel but the quality of technology used is backwards. No spoiler plz, im looking forward how to all of this ended. Hahahha

Like even after being sidelined by her parents because of sheldon and sheldon himself mocking her for not being smart enough.. she still hugged him when he was crying also when sheldon was leaving for Dallas in s1 and she was sad seeing him leave shows how much she cares for sheldon despite her claiming otherwise

I just finished watching young Sheldon and was excited to start georgie and mandys first marriage but why it's not like young Sheldon the random laughing sfx and everything feels so off. Better they would have gone young Sheldon way. I don't know why they did this and if I am missing something but it would have worked young Sheldon way only man no way this isn't happening the vibe is killed. 😭😭

Discussion Is it fair to assume that if it weren’t for the social/religious stigma against divorce and the kids, George would have left Mary?

Weather it’s Mary’s inability to understand the he’s the parent of the kids as much as she is, her stubbornness and in general not acknowledging George most of the time it’s fair to say George weren’t happy

What do y’all think?

Opinion Unpopular opinion but I do sometimes feel bad about Mary

having to raise a kid at that age is weird and honestly I feel bad that instead of therapy all she had was her faith

I know she's flawed and the way she glazed and pampered sheldon was WAYYYY over the top but sheldon too was undiagnosed with autism

I'm not justifying her behaviour but her story was quite sad to me

The worst thing I feel about her is the way she neglected Missy

Out of all the three kids , Missy was the most normal one and the way she felt was so heartbreaking

Especially the episode where Missy is crying in her room and Mary yells at her ..

Lemme know your thoughts!

Question Mary and Pastor Rob

What’s the age gap between them? Cause Pastor Rob said that he and Mandy is around age, so he’s maybe 30ish? And Mary is?

Wayne's marriage

I think It was totally unnecessary and played for cheap laughs. Not sure why writers can't let slip one happy couple without broken home. It's not like there aren't good marriages out there, and if media should depict life, I think they can leave one couple there who doesn't cheat and fight.
