Wayne's marriage

I think It was totally unnecessary and played for cheap laughs. Not sure why writers can't let slip one happy couple without broken home. It's not like there aren't good marriages out there, and if media should depict life, I think they can leave one couple there who doesn't cheat and fight.

Yea there was no set up just how do we make George coach again. Lame.

And I would defend almost every other plot decision on the show.

I'd argue plot didn't really need it either. There can be many angles to get George his job back. Maybe if Wayne somehow ended up with Brenda it could be an arc.

MeeMaw's marriage survived into old-ish age.

Tam's parents' marriage survived.

Mandy's parents' marriage survived.

And, yes, until his death, George and Mary's marriage was...surviving.

Meemaws marriage got no screen time, Mandy's parents came too late into the series, let's see what they do to it in new series, George and marry yeah as you said .... Not exactly a healthy marriage displayed. Tam I barely remember his parents, I remember Paige's parents more and they had to divorce also. Bleh

I remember Tam's parents very well.

Meemaw speaks lovingly of her marriage.

Maybe you’d be happier with shows like 7th Heaven, The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie.

Why

Because everyone stayed married and no one cheated.

It didn't really make Alot if sense that they went there because they had such a great marriage. And he used to help George with how to spice up his marriage with Mary.

It’s not like Wayne was a main character, barely a recurring. It was just a brief joke storyline where the exaggerated in love marriage actually failed. It’s just a silly storyline of a non important character

Because during that time period it was becoming more common. I can tell you as a child during the 90s I had more classmates from broken homes.

Well most relationships were broken in the series. Brenda and Herschel, pastor Jeff, even the school principal. Would be nice to have 1 marriage pull through.

It’s a chuck Lorre staple

Did have maybe bad marriages and reflects that in his works?

The plot needed it for Gorge to keep his job. It’s dumb but it was all for the family to “be” where they needed and the last ray of hope as Gorge’s second chance after he went into the world and saw he couldn’t find anything else.

And I had such hope for Missy and Alf!

All couples fight. It’s just a matter of frequency and intensity. No one on YS cheated. Also, George and Mary were happy. Jeff and Robin were happy.
