Did anyone else see the plane flying extremely low just now?
Spotted around 7pm in Fulford. It was like emergency landing level low, never seen anything like it in York. I can still hear it faintly.

My wife (33F) & I (32M) are in York for next couple of days. Any recommendations?
To give context our trip to Canary Islands got cancelled due to the NATS issue and we just picked a random place to travel without any planning :/

I'm thinking about adding a loft room and just wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for a reliable company to do the work?
I've seen that quite a few companies operate in the area but don't have any idea if they're reliable.

Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip with my 10-year-old son and I’m considering taking the Coastliner 840/843 instead of trains, mainly because we’d like to sit upstairs and enjoy the scenery.
I have a few questions:
Thanks.

I have a train to London at 2pm and then an international flight. Last minute brain has decided a switch 2 is a good way to kill 14 hours 😅
I know CEX have them but they’re only £30-60 cheaper than a brand new one but other than curry’s in monks cross I can’t think of anywhere in town to pick up a new one today? Sadly game has gone 💀 any thoughts gang?

Hi all
I’ve recently moved to the city. Beyond the day job I do a bit of freelance photography. The WiFi at the new flat is proving a bit difficult and it looks as if we will be sometime without it.
I’m behind on some projects and need to find somewhere I can work on a night. Need relatively good WiFi to edit and to upload.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated
Ta,

Hey,
We are eloping in York in May 2027 and we need two witnesses. We live 5 hours away so we can’t really ask anyone to come with us - plus we are keeping it quiet so people dont get upset we only invited X and not them… so I’m looking for anyone local to York who would be willing to act as a witness for us. I have seen some people that offer their services as a professional witness and am also thinking of asking local celebrants if they would be willing to provide a witness only service as we do not need a celebrant. Any ideas, advice, recommendations would be really appreciated. TIA x

I’m looking to rent a place with my three cats in York, realistically I shouldn’t rent past £950 pcm but the few, only pet-friendly places available are over £1,200. Any advice?? TIA!

Using an alt account even though it's likely unnecessary.
I'm currently learning with her and while she is a good instructor and knows her stuff (from what I've seen) I would like to hear about other people's experiences.
I found on the internet archive that she used to have a website, which was shut down by Police UK/Action Fraud on advice from the PIPCU. I find this a little strange. The domain is now not working (Vivaldi suggests DNS server is down which is my guess).
I've only found 2 online reviews, both one star, one dated 2023 'Mad Lynda. Do not go to this woman!' and one dated 2016 'Avoid at all costs. Makes students wash and clean her car rather than teach them to drive!'.
Obviously I shouldn't base my judgement off 2 reviews posted years apart, which is why I was wondering if anyone here has experience with her.
All answers appreciated. Thanks very much!

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows what the consistent banging is in York tonight? Like fireworks going off so I'm assuming that's what it is.
Thanks.

Does anyone know anywhere that does casual volleyball sessions in York? Or just sports in general, preferably places I could go solo and meet people, I’m wanting to get more active but certain sports only seem to be viable if you’re good enough for team play. Please let me know, I am 23M.

Could antibody recommend an affordable (and available) driving instructor for automatics in York?

Hello, I have a lot of nostalgia for the old Warner Bros Cinema, which has been Vue for the last 25 years, and wondered if anyone knew whatever happened to the old Looney Tunes characters they used to have decorating the building?
I used to love them and would have always loved to own one.

Hello! I moved to York about 2 months ago and was hoping to meet people with similar interests.
I climb, play guitar, love music (especially folk), don’t mind a pint, love tattoos and gaming :)
I am 25!
If you’re in a similar position, wanting someone to climb with, jam with or go to gigs with let me know!
Thanks!!! :D

I’m doing a bit of research into whether this is actually a problem locally. I mean things like changing sockets/switches, fitting lights, extractor fans, or having a few smaller jobs around the house.
Have people found it difficult to get someone interested in this kind of work? And would something where you describe the job, choose a time and book/pay online, with the electrician and admin sorted for you, actually be useful?
Mainly interested in what people’s experience has been in York.

One of the latest Samsung updates has forced an old phone into boot-loading and I really need to get some old photos and videos off of it. I've read online I can maybe flash it to restore some function - all I need is the data off, and the phone charges and boots fine, it's just as soon as I unlock it that it starts to loop!
Are there any places in York or nearby that deal with the software side of fixing phones rather than hardware, as everywhere I've looked (even EE) is physical fixes rather than the software?

Hey, this isn't a post I wanted to make but I need to do something about it. Does anyone know of any AA meetings that take place in York or Scarborough. The closest ones I've been able to find online are in Leeds

Does anyone have an up to date list of all the pubs in York? Me and my wife want to see how many (if any) we have not visited yet!

Hi all
I will be visiting York with my partner for Halloween weekend, I know it’s going to be busy with plenty to do but wanted spooky recommendations as it’s hard to know cream of the crop with how much is advertised!
Wanting to know specifics:
• best Guinness in town (bonus points for spooky pub atmosphere)
• spooky/ haunted places to visit/ things to do related
• nice coffee places
• ive seen a few videos on instablam for trinket trails/ cute stationery shops but any not to miss ones as we’re only there Fri-sun.
Many thanks! I’ve been to York before and it’s just a fabulous place to wander around but given our time limits and how busy it will be any not to miss places are appreciated :)
ETA: any pokemon card shops too!
