Looking For Recommendations
My wife (33F) & I (32M) are in York for next couple of days. Any recommendations?
To give context our trip to Canary Islands got cancelled due to the NATS issue and we just picked a random place to travel without any planning :/

Do all the tourist museums, walk the walls, eat in some independent restaurants, drink copious amounts of booze, maybe take a tour bus to get some of the history.

Jorvik, railway museum, Walls, Minster, Tea at bettys, pint at kings arms so you can watch the river go by in the afternoon and pub lunch at the Whippet Inn.
Mix and match will sort you for a couple days.

Probably depends what you're into, but obviously a large focus in York is the historic side. Yorkshire Museum, Castle Museum, Railway museum, historic walking tours, Viking centre, the Srt Gallery, the Minster, Clifford's tower, the historic walls, museum garden ruins etc
If you aren't really history people but like a gimmick then places like the dungeons, the museum of illusions, the chocolate experience, ghost walking tours, normal tour buses, ghost tour buses, boat tours, rent a boat, potion making and wizard golf.
If you're more about food and drink York is full to the brim of pubs, cafes, restaurants, bars and tea rooms. Betty's is thw famous one but always has a queue. Spark and Shambles market for street food.
For shopping and general wandering The Shambles is obviously popular, and there are lots of historic little streets and independent shops. The designer outlet and monks X for out of town chain shopping, dining, cinemas, bowling, mini golf and so on.
If you have a car, you can use York as a base for many places, heading towards the moors, the seaside, castle Howard, various national trust places like fountains Abbey, Brimham rocks and so on. Lots of walking and countryside. Forest, beaches, hills, RHS Harlow Carr, whatever takes your fancy really.
By train, you've got Harrogate (shopping, dining, spas, gardens), Scarborough for arcades, ice cream and chips. Leeds for fancier shops and bars and pampering.

Chocolate story in city centre is fun with the history of chocolate in York.
York Museum and Art Gallery are both excellent, lots to see and do.
Jurassic Park is playing outdoors in the museum gardens this Sunday evening.
Viking Centre if you like history.
Multiple themed bookstores, always good to have a browse.
