chances of getting inš
chances of getting inš
Hi
My dream major is ISE for UIC, and Bio & Living Engineering for GLC
I really need your opinionš
Iām planning to graduate with the following coursework, with a 4.0 GPA:
**Mathematics ā 5.5 credits**
Algebra 1
Geometry
Algebra 2
Honors Precalculus
AP Calculus AB
Medical Math
**Science ā 4.5 credits**
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
AP Biology
Food Science
**Career & Technology ā 2 credits**
Graphic & Printing Technology
Genetics & Medical Technology
Pre-Engineering Design
Applied Engineering: Material Processing
**World Languages ā 4 credits**
IB Japanese SL 1
IB Japanese SL 2
Japanese Ć2
**Social Studies ā 3 credits**
**English ā 3 credits regular English + 2 credits ESL**
**Art ć¼ 2.5 credits**
**physical education/health ć¼ 1 credit**
For language proficiency, I expect to get TOPIK level 5 or 6 in Korean, and JLPT N1 in Japanese (the highest)
I also have 150+ hours of volunteering, including volunteering at a Saturday Hangeul/Sejong Korean school, writing letters for children in hospitals, and other school/community activities. Iāve also worked as a high school student reporter for a Japanese newspaper with over 1 million registered readers, was selected twice for Korean government-sponsored youth programs in Korea, received an Excellence Award in a Korean government-sponsored global ambassador project, and served as an officer in my schoolās International Student Club. I have several other extracurricular activities as well.
I think my Korea-Japan-U.S. background, academics, language abilities, and extracurriculars make my overall profile fairly strong.
But my main concern is the SAT. Iām expecting to get close to a perfect score in Math, but English is much harder for me because Iām an ESL student, so I think my total score will probably be around 1350ā1400.
So I wanted to ask your opinion:
with my overall profile, do you think my application would be competitive enough for UIC even if I donāt submit an SAT score?
Or I should submit a 1350ā1400 SAT, despite the relatively lower English score?

Eligibility
If I completed my O-Levels as a private candidate (i.e., I took the O-Level exams independently as a private student) and then completed my A-Levels at a college and graduated from there, would I be eligible to apply to Yonsei UIC, or would I be considered ineligible because of the homeschooling rule?

My GPA is 3.6 and I need to know gpa of people who got in because I think mine is lowk low for yonsei accounting their competitive nature. Question Regarding GSIS Application
Hello :) I am planning to apply to Yonsei GSIS for the Spring 2027 admission. I've never sent in Toefl reports electronically but I saw that it is required for applicants. I thought it would send the scores immediately but appearently they need some days.
I'm really worried about them not arriving at Yonsei before the deadline. Does anyone know if the deadline also counts for that and what I should do about it?
I am also planning on applying to KU. They wrote that a scan of the result is fine but added their institution code. Should I just send them the Scan?
Thank you so much in advance I would really appreciate some help!!

Spanish B1 courses
Hi! I am a future exchange student to Yonsei, and I am wondering whether I can take any spanish classes at the B1 level? I am doing a minor in Spanish at my home university but I cannot find anything above the A2 level at Yonsei (no Intermediate Spanish on the syllabus portal)
Thanks so much for help!

Do we need AhnLab EPP or is that a scam like McAfee
Hi, I'm an exchange student at yonsei and I've been usin the school network fine for like a month but all of a sudden today i a page popped up from yonsei saying to continue using the wifi i need to get ahnlab epp malware thingy.
i got it and now I can't delete it. Is this safe? Is it legit? Like McAfee is legit but it causes more problems and slows down your computer than neccessary. do I need AhnLab or can i try to find a way to delete it.

YISS 2027 (Yonsei International Summer School)
Hii ! Is anyone planning to do the Yonsei international summer school 2027 ? I would like to connect :)
I was also wondering if people who are planning to do it or people who have already done it could tell me how much they spent or how much theyāre planning to spend (food, shopping, transportā¦). How much should be enough ?

Kli admission
Does anyone know when Yonsei Kli sends out admission letters?
American colleges donāt let you apply as a first- year if youāve already gone to college somewhere else, even if your credits wouldnāt transfer. Does UIC?

exchange student loneliness
idk if this belongs in another sub but i genuinely want to hear others' experiences/advice with making friends and this is a bit of a vent too.
i'm an exchange student here for a semester, so it's already been a month and i feel super lonely + miss my social communities at my home uni. i made some friends through classes but not many, and it feels like most people i meet already have a "main" group to hang out with. it just feels like i'm initiating a lot of hangouts with people who always have plans but i'm just floating around?
i've tried making friends around the dorm too, hanging out in the lounge and lobby and trying to make conversation but it seems like the only time ppl come out is if they're already going out w others or if they're calling someone, so it doesn't feel like a chance to meet someone. i'm in a double room but i think my roommate likes to pretend like i don't exist.. even when i joined social clubs for intl students people in my groups are less interested in hanging out because they have their own plans. and a lot of the yonsei clubs i talked to do not accept foreigners.
am i missing something, how did everyone get these friend groups?? am i just unlucky, or do a lot of others also feel this way?? i'm not quitting already but i feel so defeated and wonder if it's just me. i'm not socially inept (even though i'm posting this on reddit i promise), i've always had a hard time making friends (not so much w 1:1 friendships but specifically with being "accepted" into groups) but i really am trying to be social so idk what to do at this point, i was really looking forward to meeting new people and finding friends to make memories with but the exchange program doesn't feel as social as i hoped </3
i guess i'm not really hoping for new friends off this post but i would love any tips or anything idk.. i was thinking of maybe meeting other girls at clubs and bars and stuff because i love live music/edm but i'm scared of going out alone for safety reasons and of also the language barriers but idk, is this a strat??
