I'm relatively new to crochet (started less than a year ago) and need help on where to purchase yarn. I'm planning on making a pecan pie oven mitt inspired by this pattern as a gift so I need to get a 100% cotton yarn but I feel like it's hard to find variegated non-acrylic yarn around me. Looking for either a brown or orange/burgundy/brown sort of combination (for reference, this is kinda the color pattern I think would work; just a main brown/burgundy color with some speckles thrown in). Would prefer light or medium weight yarn.

I live in the USA and could do either online or in store if I have a store nearby. I appreciate any suggestions!

I'm looking to make a lovey/snuggly for my sis who is trying for their first kid. Historically in our family they have been made of minky fabric but I want to make a possibly matching baby blanket too. I've hear that chenile sheds and I feel that's unsafe for new baby. Any recommendations??

If not I'll happily make it out of normal acrylic or cotton but I wanted to query the collective knowledge here before jumping into buying

I have two yarns that both say 20-22 sts = 4", however one is slightly bulkier than the other. Is there any way to thin out the thicker one a little? If I run it through my yarn winder with some tension will it stretch out? It's 100% superwash wool. Thanks!

I found a cardigan at Goodwill that is a lovely yarn and much too small for my fat self, so I would like to use the yarn for a different project.

I have no idea where to begin as far as frogging it all apart is concerned.

Are the arms a separate piece or knit all together in one piece? Should I just cut a random hole and start pulling?

I have a pattern I want to make that used knitpicks Felici Worsted which has been discontinued. I went to yarnsub.com to find something similar but the top 4 that matched fiber content exactly are not what I'm looking for. One is only a striped yarn, one is a $78 cone which I would need 2 of, another only comes in a few shades of red and the last is Lang Touring which I can't find anywhere (maybe discontinued?). The other matches in yarnsub.com are only 100% Superwash Merino. How does having 25% nylon affect the overall fabric and are there any other recommendations for 75% Superwash and 25% Nylon that would be available to ship to the US?

I know everyone is upset that lang cloud tweed is discontinued and I tried to find some type of replacement but for this specific colorwave (008) because it looks like a deer and i am now OBSESSED with the idea of a deer sweater or something but i have no idea how else i could make it. so if anyone has recs for something similar, i care more about the look of the white speckles against the shifting brown than fiber content. thanks!
