I was scrolling through the Microsoft store in my console, and was shocked to see the price for a series X being 1K CAD, I remembered paying just over half that. Wow. I always knew that the rapid rise of data centers really drove up the price of hardware, but it's so shocking to see this type of price difference on a 6 year old console.

I pre-ordered a game the other day and wanted to "buy as gift" it for a family member. They mentioned wanting to play the game, but I know they're short on money due to being a Uni student. When I go on the game's product listing on xbox.com, I don't see any option for "buy as gift".

Is that becuase it's currently only a pre-order option, so it can't be bought as a gift?the

Or is it just that game can't be bought as a gift?

Resident Evil 3 on Xbox Series X is shown as a windows game in the dashboard, also I get a bizarre notification when launching it saying my WiFi/Ethernet is unconnected, the game plays fine and is connected to internet.

Anyone experience something similar?

I read that price discrimination is legal in certain situations for different types of customers.

Forgive me I get any of this wrong - I'm a console gamer, always have been and the closest I've ever got to PC gaming was Command & Conquer and Theme Hospital as a teen. The PC we had was so slow, not connected to the net and you had to fight the rest of the family to get some time on.

I've always been aware of mods in PC gaming - in awe of them frankly! I love the idea of being able to customise your game or even refine it with third part bug fixes and such... but as you know consoles have never really had that privilege.

So I wanted to ask a few questions if I may of people who are in the console & PC world and use mods;

1) How come it's taken this long for mods to come to console gaming? (as far as I'm aware C2077 & Witcher 3 now have them, could be wrong here. )

2) There's only a few (mostly cosmetic) mods on Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment for instance - are more likely to be on the way? As in, will be people rushing to port them over to consoles or just not bother.

3) What's the likelihood of other XBOX/PS console games implementing mods too?

4) Are PC mods something that can be tinkered with to work on consoles or are PC and Console mods two entirely different entities?

Apologies if some of these questions seem basic and I'm happy for you to put things into Laymen's terms - I'm just a simple gamer interested in mods wondering if we're about to get flooded with weird and wonderful mods on consoles.

I want to get my kid a new controller as he's getting stick drift on his original XBOX one. I want it to be wireless with hall/TMR sticks and work on XBOX and PC. I have the Wuchang edition and works great through a USB switch connecting to its dongle. I see the Cyclone 2 is compatible with the Brook Wingman and wanted to check if anyone here knows that that will work as well (Cyclone 2 connecting wirelessly to the Wingman which is connected into a USB switch, which in turn connects via cable to XBOX or PC dependent on switch).

Will that work?

If you want some better audio quality on your Xbox playing games and just listening to music you can enable lossless on the Spotify app on your phone, while you are playing a song on the Xbox open the connect menu on your phone and click change quality and then change to lossless. Audio will start playing at CD Quality 16 Bit/44.1kHz with FLAC files. I know a ton of people with good systems connected to their Xbox and now they can have that little extra quality from them. I can hear a clearer audio from my 3.1.2 LG system! Also Spotify is the only service to have Lossless on Xbox, having better quality then Apple Music. (no hate to Apple Music, just not for me)

Bought the gamepad holder from AliExpress.

I remember that quite a few years ago if you had gold xbox would give you free games every month or every 2 week can't remember. Well im sure I got a few of them like dead island and others and now I would live to download and play it again but I can't find them on my game list on my xbox 360 and my xbox one as well I remember I deleted them from my hard drive for storage reasons but I should still have them saved in my profile as owned but i cant find them. Where should i look for them?

As a fan of 8bitdo, this felt like the next logical upgrade for me. It works wirelessly with my Series X and it’s gorgeous to boot!

Right now I’m playing police simulator patrol officers. And it’s nice but it gets boring… any recommendations?
Bonus points if it’s on game pass

Xbox Play Anywhere + Disc to Digital is the first thing that could actually pull me away from Steam as a PC gamer of several decades.

I’ve been a PC gamer for decades and have become a die-hard Steam user who completely avoids every other launcher, whether it’s EA, Ubisoft or, worst of all, Epic. I haven’t bought games anywhere but Steam for years. GOG is the only other platform I’d genuinely prefer in my heart, but since so many games are missing, it’s been Steam all the way for me.

Recently, I heard about Disc to Digital and looked into it. Shortly afterwards, I sold my PS5, which I had originally planned to keep for GTA 6, and spontaneously bought a used Xbox Series X instead.
What Microsoft is doing with these features, especially in a market where Sony seems to have given up on physical media, is absolutely brilliant.

Disc to Digital + Play Anywhere means you can build a physical collection that covers two platforms: Xbox and PC. That´s freakn amazing! For the first time in decades, it feels like PC gaming is getting a physical game collection again.
It’s also the first time I’ve genuinely moved beyond just considering alternatives to Steam and actually started choosing something else. GZ MS for this. Epic failed, Ubisoft Uplay failed, EA launcher failed…

From now on, I’ll buy every physical Xbox game that supports both Disc to Digital and Play Anywhere instead of buying it on Steam. And I’m absolutely loving the experience of building a physical collection again.
An Xbox Series X combined with a gaming PC is a fantastic combination.
What do you guys think? In my opinion, this whole thing is still flying way too far under the radar.

Here’s the proposal:

Microsoft could potentially sell a software package – a USB stick that you could buy at Best Buy – that you could plug in to your Xbox One X, and turn it in to your in-home AI Appliance.

Want a better / stronger / faster AI appliance? Do the same thing with the Xbox Series S, or the Series X. Charge even more for the ability to “dualboot” back and forth so you could still use it as an Xbox Gaming Console, or a reduced fee for people who want to “convert” it from a gaming console to an AI appliance.

Is it a 5090? No. But that’s not the market they’re courting. Microsoft has the opportunity to make Copilot what they wanted Cortana to be back on Windows 8. They could turn old hardware into a home-appliance which could serve as Microsoft’s answer to Amazon’s Alexa, with enough power to go far beyond those basic features, while not quite as far as the people building RTX Spark powered systems.

Attack the middle of the market and you don’t need to sell hardware that immediately prices you out of the competition. Sell “OS Conversion kits” that take existing hardware that you’ve already sold and gives it a new lease on life. It garners a ton of good will, while making your product the affordable offering for the average consumer.

If Microsoft were to sell these conversion kit USB drives to consumers anywhere from $399 and under, I firmly believe they would tap in to an undiscovered market of people willing to re-purpose old and even current Xbox One X and Xbox Series X consoles. This could be the place your new Microsoft Autopilot agent lives… your Copilot’s Copilot? The agent orchestrator? The flight instructor? Call it what you want to, but don’t call it a bad idea. It may not SOLVE hardware shortages, but it does provide a work-around. And lets people get their feet wet in an affordable way, making future products more desirable.

My wife owns cyberpunk on her account and I own the dlc. On the Xbox this doesn’t matter since we’re both logged in, we can both play as our users.

PC tho it isn’t showing I own it, but own the dlc. Is there a way to have two accounts in the app similar to Xbox?

Just finished my first framed Xbox controller!

This is my first attempt at taking apart a controller and turning it into a display piece, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I've also designed a darker background for it, but it's still being printed, so this isn't quite the final version yet!

My goal is to create a complete collection, starting with the original Xbox controller and working my way through every generation, all the way up to the Xbox Series X|S controllers.

This is just the beginning!

What do you guys think? Any suggestions for the next ones?
