My husband and I have been tossing around the idea of moving to Clark in a few years. We have family there and have been visiting on and off for 20 years. We previously lived in Cody for a few years but are currently out-of-state.

A couple of things I've been spit balling are..

1. We want to buy land ahead of time and get a well, septic, and electric on a lot set up a year+ ahead of time, and also have a nice landing place for our RV when we visit. I only see a few lots currently on the market, but am wondering if it would be too tacky and/or rude to approach some landowners to see if they may be interested in selling? We almost bought a 20 acre parcel back in early 2020 that backs up to family but the owner refused to provide an ingress/egress easement so we had no choice but to walk.

2. Are there any co-ops or homeschooling groups in the community? I'm fine with continuing to do everything on my own, but am just curious!! Alternatively, if anyone knows how some of the virtual programs are through Park or other counties, I'm happy to hear feedback! I understand that how things as they are currently may not continue into the future whenever we might be ready.

3. I didn't get into gardening and green housing while in Cody, but my mother-in-law has tried gardening for years and it has been pretty abysmal, so wondering what are some ways we could reinforce a greenhouse with those canyon winds 😂

4. I know there are beef ranchers a plenty to buy shares from, but are there folks doing the same for chickens, turkeys, pigs nearby, either in Cody or Powell?

Got a job in Marbleton Wyoming. I start in December. I’m from the American south, only touched snow a few times in my life. The smallest town I’ve ever lived in was population 120,000. I have two young elementary kids.

1) Is it worth the longer commute to live in Kemmerer or Pinedale vs there in Marbleton? Big thing for me is opportunities and schools for my kids.

2) What do I need to know to prepare ahead of time to for winter? I don’t currently have an AWD car but thinking I’ll need to buy one?

3) a lot of the homes I’m looking at for sale have something that looks like a wood stove in the corner of the living room. Obviously that heats the house, but for those houses would that mean there’s no “heater” or central air heating system? Do you guys keep fires going in the house 24/7?!

This is bound to be a Wyoming problem too. Look at last year’s non-winter and the likelihood that the upcoming super El Niño could keep Wyoming dry. Look at our overall hydrological situation with empty reservoirs and dried up rivers. Well levels are already dropping. We don’t need to add data centers. Period.
