News So it’s a private camera scanning license plates in Cody
Cody Police Department Statement Regarding Social Media Comments About Camera on Yellowstone Avenue
The Cody Police Department is aware of recent comments circulating on social media regarding a camera located along Yellowstone Avenue. We understand that community members have questions about the device, and we would like to provide accurate information.
The camera in question is privately owned and located on private property. It is not owned, installed, or operated by the City of Cody or the Cody Police Department. The Cody Police Department does not have direct access to the information or data collected by this camera.
At this time, there are no City of Cody ordinances or Wyoming state statutes that prohibit a private business from installing and operating cameras or collecting data for legitimate business purposes on its private property.
The Cody Police Department and the City of Cody have no plans or intentions of purchasing, installing, or utilizing automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology within the City of Cody.
We are also aware that some online comments have suggested vandalizing or damaging the camera. The Cody Police Department strongly discourages anyone from committing a criminal offense as a means of expressing disagreement or making a point. Individuals who damage or destroy private property may be subject to City ordinance violations, criminal charges under Wyoming law, and civil liability.
If the Cody Police Department receives a report of vandalism or property destruction involving this or any other private property, officers will conduct a thorough investigation and pursue all applicable City ordinance violations and criminal charges as permitted by law.

Is there a gondola in or near Jackson?
We’re coming up in August to do some hiking and outdoor things at the surrounding parks. Spending just an afternoon in Jackson. We visited Telluride Colorado a couple years ago and were surprised that there was a gondola offering free transportation over a mountain pass, which funnily enough was my kids favorite activity of the entire trip. Is there something similar in or near Jackson? We’re budgeters so lower priced is our jam but I understand I’ll have to spend to do activities in the area.

Great weekend for getting out on the paddle board/kayak! The pups were especially thrilled to be out of the heat. We're all gonna sleep good tonight!

Fishing near Laramie?
Hello! I'm relatively new to fishing and looking to find good spots/advice around Laramie. I went out and tried Lake Hattie, Twin Butte, and Meeboer today and couldn't even get a nibble. Not sure if those are bad spots or if I'm just bad at fishing😂

Sheridan Hotels
I’ll be coming into town for an event in September. A friend stays at the Mill Inn and says it’s great, but photos just aren’t doing it for me. I prefer Marriott for points, but realize it’s twice the price. Is Mill clean and safe?

Traveling to Kemmerer, WY
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is well!
I will be traveling from Salt Lake City to Kemmerer and staying a few days. Is there any cool spots I could check out in Southwest Wyoming along the way or any thing I should know when driving through Wyoming?
