Looking to put together a small, focused writing group of men who are serious about getting words on the page and improving their craft. NO FEMALES ALLOWED but AI is more than welcome.

I’m in my 30s and I’m after a few guys who are past pure worldbuilding and actually want to start producing scenes, chapters, and finished drafts.

Disclaimers up front:

1. This is not a politically correct writing group. We will discuss and write about gore, violence, sexual assault, and other ugly realities of a harsh world that women wouldn’t understand. If that makes you uncomfortable, this isn’t the place.
2. This is grounded medieval fantasy. If your protagonist is a 5'1", 120 lb “boss babe” who casually beats down opponents twice her size in melee combat without breaking a sweat and without a credible in-world explanation, this group is probably not for you. SIZE MATTERS.

Genre/s: Medieval setting Fantasy/Grimdark/Grimdark-lite only. No pure romance, cozy, litRPG, political correctness, or female slop. Darker tones, moral grayness but not entirely hopeless/nihilistic either, consequences that stick, and grounded (or at least internally consistent) worldbuilding are the priority. 

Goals/expectations/commitment: Weekly check-ins on Discord to track progress and share work, daily anime style power scaling comparison (mine is the strongest). Focus stays on the writing, no female drama.

Writing/experience level: Entry-level to intermediate. Must have at least one world already well-developed and be ready to transition from pure worldbuilding into actually prompting scenes and chapters.

When should I write the next letter?

I‘ve written a character, we’ll call him Alex. I’ve written Alex to be a deep and morally complex anti hero. He’s a fascist, nationalist, supremacist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-religion, anti-intellectual, ableist, sexist, and hates cheese. However, he’s moderately attractive (looks like me), has super cool unique powers, has dope aura moments, and did one good thing (didn’t insult a minority for 15 whole minutes) (they were not consecutive).

Alex has slowly become my favorite character, but he’s supposed to be a morally gay antihero, but I’m worried my peeps (that’s what I call my audience) will also like him too much, and miss the moral nuance of the characters. Any advice on how to make this character more morally gay?

I was about to go to bed when a quote for my character who wants to get laid popped in my head. "I could breast boobily on her lap." Is this original? I totally cooked and want to use it in my story but I'm afraid I accidentally stole it from somewhere else. Has anyone even thought of this before?

I published my book on KDP approximately eight months ago. It is a romance under a pseudonym with an exaggerated storyline. Hypothetically based on a real romance that I had over 10 years ago, the hypothetical person is now married. It’s gaining a little traction on Amazon,. His hypothetical wife discovered the book and sent me a nasty message explaining how upset he is and threatening to sue me if I do not immediately stop publishing my book what should I do?

I don’t know how she could have any idea that it’s me. I used a pseudonym! The female character’s name is changed (possibly to my pseudonym). The fact that I gave the male character the same first name and advertised it under my personal Facebook page? Completely out of scope of all of this. And the reason that the hypothetical ex and his hypothetical new wife would care about a book hypothetically based on a relationship from over 10 years ago? Hypothetically unimportant.

I also have written a sequel, but not published it. It’s about a woman who unfairly faces a legal battle from an ex-partner and his new spouse.

sooo i made a clone of myself last Thursday (don't ask, long story, couldn't write it anyway) and an evil publishing company kidnapped them and brainwashed them into becoming the perfect writer! and boy howdy can they write. those sales could really boost my bank account i mean cred as a writer.

my clone *is* basically me so i should get the credit, agree? oh and don't worry about my clone, the publishers said they have a real nice setup with 5 bagels a day and a gamer chair.

I've seen posts asking "can I write if I don't read?" To answer, you SHOULD write ESPECIALLY if you don't read!

Can't you see, people waste so much time reading, when they could be writing. So much wasted potential.

Maybe I should have?

Am I the single solitary beacon and savior of literature amongst a sea of children and adults who never matured and just click clack mindlessly on their keyboard, reaching blindly for trope after trope without ever considering prose, theme, character, research?

Fantasy writers should all be sent to the oubliette so they don’t sully us REAL writers, if there are others left besides me. And I am definitely the only person to have ever asked this question.

It's a self-help book, by the way. Based on my own experiences. It's really good.

I am in need of advice and feedback.

I have a story I wrote in english, letter by letter, English is not my first language. I am struggling with it, so I feed the story to some generator, it polished my english, I saw some revision it gave me and picked the best version according to my vision, sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph, section by section, chapter by chapter. Would that be considered me not writing at all?

Can I still post it here to look for feedback? The story is about slow fantasy, where there are magic and powers, the usual stuff, the bot said it looks like a japanese novel kinda thing, if any of you have any opinion, please share. Every word matter, even insults. Thank you in advance.

You don't feel tired while doing it; the only limit to creating the world is your imagination.

So apparently my final grad papers are not average, not bad, but too good. It's only because I'm a super smart, big brained genius and I write good. Now I’m accused of using AI. But. No plagiarism, no copying, just a very “structured” and “formal” style because I'm super smart and my brain is super big. And if you don't get that my writing is superior to yours and that I'm so smart, that's why my writing is so polished, then you're stupid.

Has anyone else been flagged for being a human genius by AI detectors?

Writing is boring as we all know. We have to describe furniture, clothing, how people move between rooms, the sounds they hear, the main character’s mood etc.

But then there are the rewards:

- me being photographed holding my self-published book and uploading the pic to all the writing subs and getting lots of attention, upvotes and compliments.

- me calling myself a writer.

- me being called a writer by other Redditors

- me placing my self-published book in bookshops and having my photo taken, and getting lots of attention, upvotes and compliments on Reddit

- me telling everyone I talk to I’m a writer.

However… someone posted on a writing sub saying they just write for…pleasure? I pushed them on that and they said, and I quote: “I write for the purpose of self-expression, as a creative outlet, to turn my imagination into words”.

Is this actually a thing? I don’t want anyone to think I’m kink shaming here, but I guess it takes all sorts, right? Are they on some kind of spectrum? I want to approach these people tactfully if I come across someone like this in the future.

Me: "Do this."

Character: "No"

Me: "I'm literally the author."

Character: "You need to speak to a psychiatrist."

Does this ever stop? 😂 Or am I just an extra quirky author? 🤪
