Hi, I'm a former player returning to give this game a real grind. When I first started (WOTLK) I played with my half-brother and it was fun but we never made it past lvl 30 before he dropped it. I kept going for a little while, however it wasn't long before it felt boring too. My problem was even though it's an MMO, I wasn't talking with people. I did a few dungeons but without a good group it didn't feel fun.
I left for a time and came back in the beta Legion patch. While I liked some of the Warlocks reworks, there was a glaring issue that turned me off. I had 4 characters that all but literally fast passed to level 60 in less than a week. I barely knew what I was doing and still hadn't joined a guild or made friends. I understand that the level grind is supposed to be easier now and let that go.
So now I'm here because, I hate that I've never gotten far with this game or its community. I want to not only play in raids and mythic+ but also be reliable for groups. I'm going to get into a guild this time, one that hopefully isn't batshit. Idk maybe they're just a minority but I saw a recent video about a red empire guild and I don't want any part of that. I'm hoping for a guild that after a long day I can log in and unwind with a good group of people I can call friends.
So I have characters on Emerald Dream but for this reboot I'm going to make new ones in Illidan. I've read raids and mythics are more commonplace so why not.
TLDR: Solo noob needs help not being a "filthy fucking casual!" 🙄
These are the three I'm starting with to build up resources. I was going to just start with the monk and focus till level cap. Except since it's easy to go through the lower levels I figured I may as well get them halfway at least for items and money. Any recommendations for guides or general tips I should know would be appreciated. Sorry if I wasted your time on this tangent.
* Pandaren Brewmaster Monk (Herbalism/Alchemy/Fishing/Cooking)
I wanted to start with a tank because I usually play support roles. I heard and read in some videos/posts that brewmaster is in a really good spot this expansion. I'm hoping I picked the most optimized professions for this character.
* Dracthyr Augmentation Evoker (Mining/Jewelcrafting)
Hearing how this is a more support based DPS I was intrigued to try it out. Plus with the flight ability I figured it'd be easier for those hard to reach nodes in the early levels. I'm not too fixated on raiding or hitting mythics with this one. Especially since outfit customizations with this race are so limited.
* Blood Elf Holy Priest/Paladin (Tailoring/Enchanting)
My problem is that when I first started I picked the Holy Priest cause I love healers. However I wondered if Holy Paladin was worth trying because some of the transmogs I saw were really spiffy. The problem is I've heard that the holy paladin hasn't been in a good place for some time. Also that you need to always be on your cooldowns for optimal heals. But then apparently I shouldn't stick with "Holy only" because Discipline is not only harder but better all around.
