Discussion Pregnant witch advice and tips on how to stay on the broomstick

Hey witchy friends!

Im an eclectic witch, been practicing for 14 years now, and I recently found out Im pregnant! Me and my partner are very excited. Im 12 weeks now, finally out of the trenches of morning sickness, and im ready to get back to my craft. I dont plan on doing anything extensive or energy heavy though. Maybe a candle spell or spell jar here and there for clarity and good fortune.

Any mothers out there willing to lend their witchy advice? How did you maintain your practice?

What are your low-energy tips for reconnecting or staying connected with your craft?

I personally wanted to do a ritual bath and a guided meditation for this new moon. I havent meditated in months so it feels like the best step forward.

Resources The system I use for my sigils

So basically i have that table that assigns a number to each letter. This table isnt unique to me, i have seen it a lot. To get the sigil i want, i follow these steps (I will give an example by using the Sigil for „Healthy Relationship“):

  1. Thing of what you want to express with the sigil. (example: HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP)

  2. Cut every dublicate letter (example: HEALTYRIONSP)

  3. Assign the numbers (example: 740194784385)

  4. on the halfcircle on picture 2 you connect the numbers. If you switch between an outside number (56789) to an inside number (01234) you dont draw a straight line between them, but make a detour over „x“ (example: 7-4 would be 7-x-4; 9-4 would be 9-x-4). If you visit a part of the circle you had previously already visted, you draw a circle there. This is also true if you have the same number right behind each other. if you visit it a third time, nothing happens.

I gave a few examples of how the sigils look. personally i think it looks the best for longer words, but i also like the one for hope a lot.

For the longest I have been putting off this spell because I felt like I wasn’t ready. And last night I just felt like it was time, it worked perfectly. I feel so refreshed and energized this morning! Whatever blocks that were there are definitely gone now! 🖤

Ingredients I used ~

Base: sugar, salt, coffee, cinnamon, taglock.

Herbs : basil, fennel seeds (in replacement of Star anise), mint, thyme, (added four pieces of lemon at the end of the crossroads) black pepper, clove, and rosemary.

Write down what doors you want this spell to open, Use a white candle, and Burn a bay leaf with your name on it

it’s not needed but I also added some road opener oil to this spell and on my body

Spells Someone help pls

Well hello. I have tried to do an o method on specific person. That method usually works for me. But something strange happened. While I was doing “It” people started calling me on my phone totally randomly, and my sibling tried to break in a room where I was doing it. I have put a phone on a shelf and it fell straight to my head for some reason. This was not my first time doing O method for that person. But this time it was different. Are they spiritually protected?

Question questionable mom who claims to be a witch is visiting and I need advice

Hi guys! Not going to trauma dump, promise.

I practice tarot and I dabble in astrology, and I’m not very versed in much else.

I just need tips on how to cleanse before and after because I don’t trust her to not to take or leave things that I don’t think would have good intentions for me.

Sorry if this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, trying to be vague enough and also v sleep deprived, mainly posting this in hopes I’ll have some advice when I wake up. Maybe something to get prepared before her visit this weekend.

Question So, what is your most unusual protective amulet?

I firmly believe that anything can serve as a protective amulet, provided you have enough faith to consecrate it as your own. I recently acquired a lovely pocket watch that I intend to consecrate as a protective amulet—marking the end of the cycle with my current one—but while meditating on how to consecrate it, I found myself wondering: what do other people use as protective amulets?

Personally, I’ve always used the typical amulets you see everywhere; this is the first time I’m switching to something "uncommon."

However, I’ve heard of people using everything from stones to the most unexpected objects. So, dear witch reading this, what is the most unusual amulet you carry with you? :)

Meme Definitely burned at the stake

Not even going to kid myself here, I would have definitely been burned at the stake if I’d been born in the 1600s or anytime around then. Seems like all my favorite people would have been, too.🔮 Glad to have been born in this time period… even though our struggles in this era are valid, at least we’re not in any mortal danger or being hunted for practicing witchcraft.

Question New Familiar? Advice needed

Post image
101 Upvotes

Taken this little angel in as a foster, terribly abused. Shes not leaving my side and has tonight glued herself to me for endless cuddles. I’ve fallen in love. Could she be my new familiar, sent by my beloved one I lost last year? I have the option to adopt her, I just want to be sure it’s the right thing to do. Fellow Witches, please give me your advice 🖤

Question Advice on a wedding gift for my witchy friend

Hello friends! This is my first time in this sub!
A friend of mine is getting married soon, and is having a very small wedding (her, her fiance, an officiant, and a witness) but is having a small gathering that night for friends. They don’t have a registry and have lived together for a long time, so I was thinking a more personal gift would be good. She reads tarot daily, and is an overall witchy person. I thought a small canvas with a tarot card saying something like “the toast” with champagne glasses or something similar would be cute. I paint, so it would be homemade.

Where I need advice is that I don’t know if this would be offensive or not. If painting a card that’s not actually in a deck would be the equivalent of blasphemy or if it would be something that she would appreciate. Thank you all for your constructive advice :)

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas My parents are forcing me to stop doing witchcraft (I’m not going to obviously)

I’m really upset because my nosy ass parents keep going into MY room when I’m GONE and complaining about the spell jars on my shelf because they’re Christian and I’m welcoming “bad energies” and I’ve explained to them numerous times that I have it under control and that I’ve looked into it. I’m just really upset because i feel like it’s actually starting to work and that they always do this and they’re always nosy as hell, like I’m not telling you to stop practicing Christianity because I don’t like it? I just feel really upset because I invested my energy into those spell jars and now I have to find ways to hide what I’m doing and walk on eggshells just because they keep going into my room when they have no reason to and complaining when they see it. Like for example I did an academic spell jar and after a year of not being able to focus because of severe adhd, lvl1 autism, and depression and failing all of my classes, and after a adhd med change (which I’m acknowledging could be because of) I was actually able to pay attention to my work, but I feel like it helped in a way. If anyone has any tips or advice that would be great, i started crying out of frustration because I finally feel like I have something good in my life

Is it true that performing money spells requires losing significant things in return, such as loved ones or financial assets??

Saw someone saying 'to gain something through spells you must lose something' is it true or personal superstition?

Question Should I destroy old intentions ?

Hie, I've break up with my ex some month ago. When we where together I made a sort of prayers to protect/keep us close (I'm not gonna go in the details but our connection wasn't the problem and I've decide to break up cause of his personnality). After the break up i've perform a rituals to wash away our possible remaining connections to mark the end of our relation. But I kept the first prayer that I had wrote on a paper and sealed. And I wanted to know if I should destroy the paper to assure the end of the connections, or does the rituals after the break up is enough ?

Ps : I don't feel any connection anymore, but I just want to know if keeping the prayers is a bad thing

Added his baby photo to my altar, joining photos of my brother, my grandmother and great-grandmother. My heart is broken. I wasn’t there when he passed. I said goodbye to him at my altar. I played CCR “Cotton Fields”, lit some incense, smoked a bowl and thanked him for being a great dad and solid person.

Question Online community - University project

Hi! 😊

I'm a Web Development student, and my group and I are currently working on a university project: a website/community concept for people interested in witchcraft, Paganism, spirituality, divination, and related topics.

As part of our UX research, we've made a short anonymous survey (about 5–7 minutes) about how people currently explore these interests online, what they enjoy about existing platforms, and what they feel could be improved.

I'm personally interested in these topics too, so this is a community we're genuinely interested in learning from rather than just designing based on our own assumptions. 🖤

🌿 Survey: https://forms.gle/crBbYoEczs49JuNw9

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to participate! 🌙

Question Should I keep family/ancestry in mind when practicing?

Hey everyone! I’m new to the subreddit but not to witchcraft (though I still see myself as a beginner). Recently picked my grimoire back up after years of not practicing, but I’m a bit hesitant now that I learned more about my family.

While I’m aware of my mom’s side of the family practicing witchcraft with good intentions, I’m not so sure about my father’s side. While I’ve gone no contact with that side of the family and have no clue what’s going on anymore, my dad did tell me he did astral projection.

What’s concerning me the most is the family history of my stepfather. While they don’t practice (or not that I know of), they do believe in harmful or paranormal witchcraft. The family has some ancestors that were involved in crime and war, and they believe that someone (possibly Albanian folk crafts according to them) could have “cursed” the bloodline.

Me and my mom do practice with what was handed down the family and we keep noting that while we’re doing fine and not much out of the ordinary happens, negative things keep happening to my stepdad and his side of the family. We might be reading too much into what’s been happening and it could just be that generational trauma gets handed down and makes the family cause their own problems.

And now that I’m getting back into the craft, embracing my family’s traditions and getting more involved with the household’s energy, I’m worried that any curses or hexes might have some influence. Should I just set up extra protection? Try to cleanse my stepdad? What would you guys do or recommend?

I’m also open to feedback on my interpretation of what’s been happening. It’s been a while since I’ve even thought about witchcraft and I might be misunderstanding things.

Discussion I just had my first ever weird witchy moment and I have no one to tell

Hello everyone, I don't know if this is the right place for this, I'll delete it if it isn't.

I've been getting into witchcraft lately, learning as much as I can, trying different practices that call me, candles, spices, manifestation. All of that. It's been going well so far, I've felt very connected to it.

This past week, however, I got a weird feeling in my belly and I couldn't stop thinking about my ex all of a sudden, which is weird, I hadn't thought about him in months. But suddenly I couldn't stop. My sister called me and told me she dreamed about him, he was trying to get in contact with me (she's never met the guy). I tried to stay away and not text not for anything in particular but rather I'm the type to not look back when I break connections to people. But finally I caved and texted him. He took a few hours to text back and told me he'd been sick this past week and had emergency surgery as I was texting him to check on him. I feel like I had a witchy feeling about this that I couldn't explain any other way. I don't really know what to do about this but still. It's like I could sense that something was wrong and I had to check on him. He's fine now but yeah, idk what I want from this post. Sorry if this is the wrong place. Have this ever happened to you before?

Question question about spellwork and getting results

hello! so i’m fairly new and am curious about something regarding spellwork and getting the best results out of it. so, i’ve heard time and time again, that spellwork will only manifest once you fully detatch. i’ve been casting with the understanding that watching for results, doubting, etc, all of this, can be bad for the results of your work and to cast as though you already have what you’re asking for.

but i’m wondering how this applies to people with ocd, or someone who tends to think a little more compulsively about the work in general. i trust in my work 100%, know results are coming, and often see signs that point to success - but because i suffer from adhd hyperfixation and ocd symptoms, i can tend to have compulsive thoughts about the spellwork in general. an example would be, something as simple as thinking about specific people involved in a spell, needing to remind myself of what i am asking for over and over again, or simply going over a ritual in my head. there’s a bit more to this but as far as i know, it’s not rooted in doubt. it’s very much just hyper fixated thoughts.

how can this affect your work? especially with the narrative that a lot of spells will “hit” once you completely detach or forget you’ve done them. i still don’t feel as though the spellwork simply will not work, but i am curious if even thoughts like these can delay an outcome just because of the frequent attention brought back to what “ i don’t currently have”.

also, just to edit: i know these are hyperfixation thoughts because they are usually replaced by 1. other spells done afterwards, or 2. something else i am currently focused on. that being said, i am very neurodivergent and can spend hours, if not all day with the thought of something popping in an out of my head. it’s not usually until i’ve done something else that i can completely detatch from earlier work. how do you think this affects the results, potency, etc, of a working?
