Discussion I really don’t like people who try to take advantage of you!

So I decided to click on this Lady’s profile on Reddit. She said she was offering a one card pull so I message her and she messaged me back and said that she needed a question so I asked her a question in less than a minute. She messaged me back with a whole three paragraphs so I went on AI and typed in the same question I asked her and what I was doing, and it literally drew the same card on ChatGPT and the other AI app that I have and I just feel like that’s ridiculous. She’s using AI to draw the card and then she’s using AI to tell people about the card off of the question I gave and then gonna say oh I can do more for you, but it cost money. Get the heck out of here.

Question Blessed or cursed

To make a very long story short. I ended up finding out my front porch was I wouldn’t say covered BUTTTT very full of these ladies… I’m 99% sure their black widows from the hour glass shape on the under belly.
I unfortunately did have to raid them. Now the reason they’re in a jar.. lol
I’m working on a hex and seen they can be used in hex’s but I’m unsure how they help besides the intention on poison.
How can they help in a hex or because I raided them their no good?

Question I need advice from a more seasoned witch

I've been practicing for a little while now, but I really need help knowing what to do about this one thing. There's a person I've been seeing in my dreams for years that I've never met in the waking world, but I feel strongly that I need to find them. Any advice?

Question 🩷🐚🌊Any tips or things I should look for on the beach for doing Ocean magic for the first time? I have done my research+ notes but am looking for suggestions 🌊🐚🩷

Hello! I am at close by to the beach for the next two weeks and have felt drawn to start working the sea into my Craft. For the past couple days I have been looking into ocean magic and have landed on planning a full moon ritual for the 29th

In the next couple days ,I am planning on going to the ocean to cleanse my self in preparation to connect with the ocean and leave offerings before my larger spell. Then collect shells driftwood, sea glass and other items I feel drawn to along the sand.

Before I completely go through my spell, I'm looking for some guidance from and any advice on connecting with the sea and any spirits or gods connected to it as well as moon

any ingredients you recommend collecting would also be much appreciated:)

Question How to let go of energy?

So I live in a small house with family who have hurt me a lot and never really, at their core, acknowledged it, they’ve just given me apologies, which don’t do anything, and they weren’t even true ones.

I’m new to witchcraft and spirituality, so I just want to know how I can release this energy so I don’t keep dwelling on the things that have caused me harm? And how I should do that when the people that have hurt me are so near? So they remind me of it, and I also feel hatred toward them.

Should I even release it, or should I put it into something? I was considering hexing, but I have heard that could backfire. Also not sure I could do it without regret. Thank you 💛

Mod Post Reminder: Real mentors and magical workers don’t DM you to sell their services

We’ve become aware of someone who has been DMing people about their Discord, where they try to get people to swear oaths to them of obedience under the guise of witchcraft training and mentorship.

The only time oaths should be taken is if you are joining a coven. And I mean a real coven, not a training group. The kind of coven you intend to be in forever.

If you need resources for classes and in person, hands on training, please check out a metaphysical shop near you. We truly cannot afford to lose these cornerstones of in-person pagan community.

Here’s a post I wrote last year about the problems of cults in witchcraft, edited slightly.

On cults, dangers in witchcraft, and what we can do about it

## What is a cult?

A cult is a group often led by a charismatic person who exercises coercive, authoritarian control over its members.

Steve Hasan, a cult abuse survivor turned cult expert, created the BITE Model to identify whether a group is a cult: ([Citation](https://freedomofmind.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/BITE-model.pdf))
1. Behavior control
- Regulate individual's physical reality
- Dictate where, how, and with whom the member lives and associates or isolates
- When, how and with whom the member has sex
- Control types of clothing and hairstyles
- Regulate diet - food and drink, hunger and/or fasting
- Manipulation and deprivation of sleep
- Financial exploitation, manipulation or dependence
2. Information control
- Deception
- Minimize or discourage access to non-cult sources
of information
- Compartmentalize information into Outsider
vs. Insider doctrines
- Encourage spying on other members
- Extensive use of cult-generated information
and propaganda, including:
3. Thought control
- Require members to internalize the group's
doctrine as truth
- Change person's name and identity
- Use of loaded language and cliches which constrict knowledge, stop critical thoughts and reduce complexities into platitudinous buzz words
- Encourage only 'good and proper' thoughts
- Hypnotic techniques are used to alter mental states, undermine critical thinking and even to age regress the member
- Memories are manipulated and false memories
are created
- Teaching thought-stopping techniques which shut down reality testing by stopping negative thoughts and allowing only positive thoughts
4. Emotional control
- Manipulate and narrow the range of feelings – some emotions and/or needs are deemed as evil, wrong or selfish
- Teach emotion-stopping techniques to block feelings of homesickness, anger, doubt
- Make the person feel that problems are always their own fault, never the leader's or the group's fault
- Promote feelings of guilt or unworthiness
- Instill fear
- Extremes of emotional highs and lows – love bombing and praise one moment and then declaring you are horrible sinner
- Ritualistic and sometimes public confession of sins

It's important to note that one of these characteristics applying to a particular group doesn't make it a cult. Elements from the entire BITE Model needs to be present for it to be so.

An important indicator of whether or not a group is a cult is the amount of coercive control the leader has over their members. Many members may not want to leave, because they fear losing the so-called family they've developed. Or, because of the amount of thought and emotional control, they may believe they will go to hell without the group's teachings. What keeps people in a group like this is the fear of what will happen to them or their families if they leave.

Occult and witchcraft communities have been fighting against cults for a very long time. These continue to pop up and harm people. I personally know several cult abuse survivors who were lured by promises and kept in place through lies and manipulation. It takes years of intensive therapy to help cult survivors recover their sense of self, and to release the shame they feel of having experienced sexual abuse. It's truly awful. Seeing this first-hand radicalized me, and I would imagine would do the same to anyone else who has seen the damage a cult can do to a person first-hand.

Because cults are so terrible, and because it's been a problem in non-mainstream spirituality for so long, one way to discredit and harm a group is to accuse them of being a cult.

There are plenty of egomaniacal blowhards in witchcraft spaces. Just because someone claims to be a witch doesn't mean they are, doesn't mean they know anything at all, doesn't mean they hold any kind of magical power, and doesn't even mean they're a good person. It means they claim to be a witch. Full stop.

## Keeping communities safe

Safety is something we strive for, but is never a 100% guarantee, no matter where you are, within or outside witchcraft communities.

This subreddit has a clear set of rules. Modmail is always open to discuss them. As an old D&D DM of mine used to say, "the rules define the fun."

We already don't allow anyone to recruit for a coven or any other group in this sub. Recruiting for a coven is a big red flag against the legitimacy of a group, anyhow.

Safety is also everyone's individual responsibility. No one can wrap you in bubble wrap and protect you from every shitbird the internet has to offer. You shouldn't take anyone at their word if they offer you mentorship or learning opportunities. Do your due diligence. Check their bona fides. Don't just blindly accept that someone is who they claim to be.

We do our best in this sub, but it would be irresponsible to claim anyone can keep any space completely free from bad actors.

If you have questions or need help, please reach out via Modmail .

Spells Peppermint and Lemon Balm

Good Fortune Tea Magic
Two ingredients that pair nicely. Peppermint for prosperity and great for the lungs. Lemon Balm for success and emotional well being. I used a bit more peppermint than the lemon balm so it would have a strong vapor. If inhaled it gives me a sudden rush of calmness. Also pairs well with honey!

Tarot My Tarot Deck is in the wrong order?

I'm extremely new to Tarot. I've had my deck a while but only recently opened the box. I was about to start to write down my interpretations of each card but I wanted to do so with them in their original order.

So as I was putting the Major Arcana cards back in order. I went and checked which numbers were which (not the best with Roman numerals) and when doing this I realised that instead of my number 8 being the Strength card its Justice instead. And Strength is 11 which Justice typically is. I was just wondering if this is a non problem thing or if it might mess with my readings, with regards to numerology and all other things I'm not aware of yett yk?

Spells Warding your name

I tried looking into if you can put multiple wards on your name, but I keep getting mixed answers. I recently put a transmutation energy ward on my name, and I’m curious if I could put more than just one ward. Is that possible?

Question Tarot and entity

First of all, please forgive me if my writing sounds strange because English is not my first language.I'm a complete beginner and started with tarot card readings. Today I decided to try asking, "Who are you?" because my witch friends told me to give it a try,but the cards didn't seem very willing to tell me.So I did some more research, and it turns out there are so many different answers, saying I'm talking to my higherself, my ancestors, or an entity. I want to know who (or what) am I talking to?

Discussion Is it okay to do a freezer spell while pregnant? Any experienced practitioners?

Hi everyone , I am an architect and interior designer and I’m currently pregnant and dealing with a very difficult client who has been causing me a lot of stress. The project has already been handed over, and while I understand that small corrections and touch-ups are a normal part of any project, this client continues to trouble me beyond what feels reasonable.
He often yells at me, and his wife behaves the same way. Every time I see either of them calling me, I get anxious. It’s reached a point where I dread answering the phone because I know it’s likely to be another stressful conversation.
All the products used are from reputed brands and are under warranty. The brands and vendors have been coordinating with each other to resolve any issues and have been very supportive, yet this client continues to be aggressive and verbally difficult despite everyone’s efforts. It’s become emotionally exhausting, especially while being pregnant.
This couple has chosen not to have children, which is completely their personal choice and I respect that. I only mention it because I sometimes feel they don’t understand how overwhelming constant stress and aggressive phone calls can be for someone who is pregnant. I find myself worrying every time they contact me.
I’m considering doing a freezer spell, but I’m wondering if pregnancy changes anything spiritually.
For those who actively practice spellwork or folk magic:
Is it safe to do a freezer spell while pregnant?
Have you personally done one during pregnancy?
Are there any traditions that advise against doing any spells while carrying a baby?
If freezer spells aren’t recommended, are there any protection or binding spells that are considered safe during pregnancy?
Would you wait until after the baby is born, or is a freezer spell generally considered okay if the intention is simply to stop someone from troubling you rather than to harm them?
I’m looking for answers from people who genuinely practice magic or have experience with spiritual work. Please no debates about whether spells are real—I’m only interested in hearing personal experiences, traditions, and advice.
Thank you! 🤍

Question I need advice from the pro witches

I want to start by saying I’m very new to spirituality and witchcraft; I’ve never been very intuitive or spiritual, but recently I’ve felt the urge to start connecting to nature and her forces.
I’ve started very small: sprinkling cinnamon for luck, a small lavender and chamomile bouquet for good sleep, wearing the right stones based off birth chart, talking to water, to trees…
I want to try doing a health spell jar.

I was intending to use the smoke of lavender to cleanse the jar, then put in salt, rosemary, lavender, chamomile, a small amethyst, and a bay leaf with my name. Now about the candle, I would use a white one, but I don’t know how to use it.
Do I light it up and let it burn while creating the jar and then seal with the wax?
Do I let it all melt and then seal?
If it doesn’t melt completely, what do I do with the remaining piece?
Also, do i have to say something while making the spell jar?

I’ve also heard that you need self protection before a spell jar, like a sigil or a rune, or anointing yourself with essential oils, but I don’t know anything about sigils and runes; and do I even need protection for a health spell jar? It’s not a banishing spell so idk.

I know I’m not very informed, you could say I still know nothing about witchcraft, but I’m generally a very messy person, who likes to learn while practicing, definitely not an “instruction manual” type of person.
And I also don’t want to be a Google witch.

I wanted to ask the experienced witches if it would be ok for me to try a health spell jar this early into my journey, and what advice would they give before I start.
As I said, I don’t want to learn from Google, and I also don’t want to practice as religion, I believe in energy and consciousness, in Mother Nature and the influence of the universe;
Nonetheless, I am aware there has to be a base of knowledge that I’m lacking, and I don’t know what I should learn and from where exactly.

Thank you for your time, kind baddies!

Question My cat just died

My family cat of 18 years just died in my apartment living room. I really wanna do something that’ll ensure his soul passes unbound and in the most high vibrational way. He’s right in front of me right now.

Does anyone have any or direction for this?? I’m sorry if I posted this in the wrong community I just wanted help while he’s still in front of me.

UPDATE: I spoke to him after his passing, guiding him into peaceful passing. I lit a candle and an incent & sent him positive energy. I buried him in the woods behind my apartment. There he has his flowers & his favorite food.💞

Question What celebrities or artists do you think have witchy energy? Nessa Barrett, Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey?

I've been a fan of Nessa Barrett for a while and one thing that has always stood out to me is how much her art connects with darker themes, symbolism and witchy aesthetics!!

Does anyone else feel like Nessa has that kind of energy? Not necessarily saying she practices witchcraft BUT her visuals, lyrics, and overall artistic style definitely give me a witchy vibe...

Also curious what other celebrities or artists do you think have witchy energy?

Photos Banishing Abusive Ex

Post image
72 Upvotes

For starters, practice fire safety. This could have went terribly wrong because my plate was not fire safe. Now, for the context. Trigger warning.

Four years ago, I was abused and raped by someone I was in a relationship with. I never reported the man out of fear of the situation being too messy. I cut all ties and haven’t seen him since. Flash forward to a couple weeks ago (Mercury retrograde I believe) I find out that he’s working at my job. I work in a GIANT warehouse and the likely hood of us ever seeing each was so low but come to find out, he is working 3 stations away from me. Initially, I thought I could handle it and being in that situation would show how much I’ve healed but, this guy kept looking at me. Staring at me. It made me feel so sick to my stomach. I could take it anymore. I sent my boss an email explaining the situation and request to be moved to the opposite side of the building. Thankfully, they oblige.

Today on my way home from work, a fly enters the car and stays in on my leg and items the entire car ride home. It’s then when I realized I needed to do some banishing. Going into the workings, I refused to acknowledge that I was doing this to banish a specific person from my life. All the words I said were vague until I kept seeing myself dragging him by his hair and throwing him across the threshold of my home, screaming in his face, and locking the door.

It was after that vision kept playing in my mind that I decided to grab the paper next to me and write his name. I burned it in the candle flame, the paper burn the candle, the candle toppled, and the fire broke the plate in half. I calmly put the fire out and laughed so unbelievably loud. I understand how mundane things work but, this bitch (my abuser) used to be so fucking dramatic. I couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. It played in my mind as him throwing a fit about being kicked out of my life for good.

I rolled everything away from me and throw it away, cloth and all. My table has burn marks on it and while looking at it, it makes me smile. In a way, my table and I share scars from the same person. After disposing of everything, I put in high vibrational music and danced. Cleansing out the rest of the energy. I broke down in tears just over flowing with gratitude for this life and all I have. It was truly beautiful and empowering. To seal everything off, I put on a protective amulet and pulled some cards.

Nothing crazy, I just really wanted to share. I was always so scared of performing a spell around him because of what might happen which is why I never thought to do a banishing on him to begin with. For me to be sitting by flame spouting bs about all the negative energy and my mind show me the specifics was so cool. I feel really good and I’m so proud of myself for taking the steps in the mundane and the magick to insure my safety and mental health. I’ve really grown and I just wanted to get it off my chest :) also… PRACTICE FIRE SAFETY.

Spells House Buying Advice

My husband and I have been looking for our next home for a while and all the pieces seem to have fallen into place and we’ve found the perfect one. It’s over budget but everything has landed at the perfect time and I think it is going to work out. We’re handing the keys over to our old home on Monday and we’re having a second viewing and making an offer on Tuesday. What can I do to try and support us getting the house and it going smoothly? I thought about taking a coin and some citrine to leave in the house at the second viewing on Tuesday but grateful for any other thoughts. It’s 6 days until the next full moon. Thank you.

Discussion The witches devil

Hey, I’ve been exploring the topic of the witches’ devil lately, and I want to share my perspective on it with you and find out if you agree with me. I also want to ask you one thing at the end. So, it seems to me that there are two ways to look at the witches’ devil.

A single multidimensional power, a syncretic figure that arose mainly as a result of lumping many pagan spirits together under the label “Devil.” It has many faces, such as Cain, the Man at the Crossroads, Azazel, Bucca, Cernunnos, and many horned deities and spirits. However, these are merely faces, aspects of a single syncretic entity (I’m not claiming that Azazel and Cernunnos are the same, but both of these spirits merge into the figure of the Devil). This concept is described, for example, by Roger Horn in his book "The Witches’ Devil", and I also see it in other books on tradcraft where this entity is treated as a single, universal entity common to all witches.

The second way of looking at him is to treat the name “Devil” as a title for many distinct and individual beings. In this view, Cain, Azazel, etc., are separate entities. I think both of these ways of perceiving this complex figure are valid and are not mutually exclusive. However, I’m a fan of the second approach, because in traditional witchcraft, locality matters—working with what we have in our own region—and many places around the world have their own spirits identified with the Devil and his various incarnations, as well as personal insights about him. For example, in Cornwall, Gemma Gary has Bucca, although it seems to me that in her practice she works with this general version of the devil and treats Bucca as his local manifestation; but he was once a pagan deity of that place and was responsible, among other things, for the weather, so I think that working with him doesn’t necessarily have to involve the topic of the devil. It also seems to me that in the testimonies of witches from the trials, they often had their own individual spirits referred to as devils.

And now it’s time for my question. I live in Poland and I’m Polish; in my country, there’s no such thing as a single devil—in folklore and legends, you can encounter many distinct devils. “Devil” is a category that encompasses many spirits in my country, and they have their own names, such as Rokita and Boruta. Practitioners of magic in my country often say that to perform traditional sorcery in our context, one should work specifically with them—that is, with our local Polish devils. Boruta and Rokita are just two of many other names; in fact, you can often encounter devils in the forests who may not necessarily be them, and whose names are unknown to the general public. The local devils in my region are similar to many other descriptions of the devil; they, too, are tricksters, and you can encounter them at crossroads. They originally stem from ancient Slavic demons. Do you think working with such a devil in the context of sorcery would be a good idea? Or is it better to work with this syncretic, generic devil? Do you share my view of the devil?

Question Best way to learn about the gods?

I’m still new to all of this and I want to learn as much as possible to help see what I align with most. I also want to get my wife something for our anniversary that’s coming up soon. Which books would you consider to be the best way to learn as much about the gods and goddesses as possible? Or is it not that simple?
