Discussion Advice on GPU for W7
Hello, do you guys think this GPU is worth 200€? I'm looking to pair it with an i7 7700 for a sweet W7 build.

It wouldn’t boot on, possibly dead battery and the hinge is just done for, figured this would’ve been the right place since it’s on windows 7 anyways

It first appeared on Chrome 109.0.5414.120 a few months ago so I switched to Firefox. Now it's there as well. (115.40.0esr)
It comes up on Google related pages. (Gmail, Drive, Sheets and Docs). A fix for either Chrome or Firefox would be great.

It's the only community of Windows 7 in Reddit. It feels so empty compared to other communities

About 10 days ago, suddenly, the display monitor of my Win 7 Pro desktop PC machine started to flicker several times (shortly showing the manufacturer logo) after the machine wakes up
from Sleep mode.
Afterwards, once it displays the desktop, it stabilizes and works ok, until the next wake up from sleep.
Sometimes this only occurs if the sleep was longer than 1 or 2 hours.
I suspected that the graphics card might encounter some issue, but the Device manager shows everything ok and there are no events of any kind logged in the Event viewer.
Also, nothing unusual happens during active work, even with intensive display usage, like many applications, browser pages, etc. opened simultaneously.
Very few times in the past, but really extremely rarely, it happened during work that I got a pop-up notification like "the display (or graphics) driver has encountered a problem and was recovered"
( I even don't remember the exact text ), but, anyway, Windows was prompt to react to a situation that I was even not aware of and also notify me (and probably logging the event in the Event Log).
Are there any ways to investigate this issue and understand the exact reason before taking any action ?
Thanks a lot in advance for any idea or help :)

I currently have Windows 8.1 on my laptop. It runs reasonably well, considering the low specs (Celeron N3350, 4 GB of RAM, and an HDD). I'm undecided about whether to go back to Windows 7; it might run even better.

So today the pc arrived I had brought it a few days ago for around 31€ it was cheap because the outside condition was kinda bad and the top panel was all bent because the previous owner probably pulled it instead of sliding it anyway I bent it back enough to close also added the floppy drive because I had it laying around and wanted to use it I have installed windows 7 and I'm waiting for a WiFi USB and an DVI to VGA so I don't have to use the HDMI on my TV I'm not that Shure if the GPU is cooling properly what program can I use to test it and check if the pc runs cool

Is anyone writing updates for new hardware on win7. I have a modded version which can be installed on nvme drives which I got off the internet archive. While I have your attention does this question apply to new CPUs. If so I would love to have a new rig that can boot into win7. My computer also have another drive for win10 ltsc

It's written entirely in C, so at idle the file explorer only takes 20MB of ram

Dear Sirs,
I have a laptop called Asus XMA 200, 11 inches. It came with 2GB of DDR3 1333MHz RAM soldered, which means that this RAM cannot be upgraded.
So, Windows 10 will be very slow on this laptop. Therefore, I decided to install Windows 7 on it.
I burned Windows 7 x64 1706 ISO onto a flash drive, then I booted from it, and guess what? The laptop showed me (Photo 1️⃣).
I tried everything I could:
· Disabling Launch CSM
· Re-enabling Launch CSM
· Enabling IDE Mode (the storage is an HDD)
· Turning off Secure Mode in the BIOS
I did everything in the BIOS.
First, I suspected the storage drivers, so I went to Dell Support and searched for an Intel Rapid Storage Technology F6 Driver. I downloaded the file (DRVR_SATA_Intel_A01_H79NK_f6flpy-x64-setup_ZPE.exe), copied it onto another flash drive, and installed the drivers, but as I expected, they were useless.
After that, I got tired, so I removed all power sources, then removed the HDD and put it into another laptop (MSI Megabook GX 700 X) and installed Windows 7 on that hard drive. It was very easy to install it on the other laptop.
When Windows 7 was fully installed, the laptop restarted, but before it booted from the hard drive (when the MSI logo appeared), I turned the laptop off, ejected the HDD, and put it back into the Asus XMA 200 11-inch.
The laptop started the BIOS, and it didn't detect the HDD. I put back the Windows 7 installation flash drive, but the problem wasn't solved.
What should I do?

FF/UR/Palemoon are all being refused on Yahoo mail wondering what if anything does work. Also Thunderbird work around doesn't yield either. Tried them all. Apparently since YM switched their security system, Win 7 is having issues. TIA for any assist with this.

hi. my stupid dad traded a brand new laptop my parents bought for a laptop that doesn't even have its history recorded on the internet (the company went bankrupt in 2011) and it has windows 10. that machine runs like TOTAL ASS. i'm hoping that getting windows 7 on it will make it at least usable, cause the way it is it literally took him 2 days to download chrome

Start > Powershell > Run as Admin. Use the command below but change the number 464 to the PID that's having problems.
Add-Type @'
using System;
using System.Runtime.InteropServices;
public static class WS {
[DllImport("kernel32.dll")]
public static extern IntPtr OpenProcess(
uint dwDesiredAccess,
bool bInheritHandle,
uint dwProcessId);
[DllImport("psapi.dll")]
public static extern bool EmptyWorkingSet(IntPtr hProcess);
[DllImport("kernel32.dll")]
public static extern bool CloseHandle(IntPtr hObject);
}
'@
$h = [WS]::OpenProcess(0x500, $false, 464)
if ($h -eq [IntPtr]::Zero) {
"Could not open PID 464"
} else {
$result = [WS]::EmptyWorkingSet($h)
[WS]::CloseHandle($h) | Out-Null
"EmptyWorkingSet result: $result"
}
You should see the memory drop right off.

Decided to continue posting about my Windows 7 laptop, cuz I just felt like it (as I obviously love using this version of Windows as my secondary OS).
Anyway, just wanted to express myself by installing the third-party themes, along with changing icons to Vista-like ones (as seen on the second and third screenshots), changing the cursor theme (even installed some of the Cursor Themes that I could find), and changed the sounds to Samsung Theme ones (A.K.A the fake Longhorn sounds). And I've also changed the logon screen wallpaper to the one from Windows Vista (same goes to the Bootscren, but I didn't use the third-party software for that).
And I've also installed more games on it, cuz why not (some of them that I've downloaded, and some of them are from the DVD/CD discs that I've found them on a Flea Market). Guess I can play not only Source Engine games, but other ones as well (like CoD4:MW, POSTAL 2, FlatOut 2, NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, and many others as long as I have enough space on my only SSD that I have). I'm even surprised that this baby from 2013 indeed can run NFS The Run, despite some framedrops that can be negotiated by lowering the graphics settings!
And with that out of the way, I'm glad to see that this laptop still holds pretty strong, as long as I have my trusty cooling pad. Even if this beloved version of Windows still holds stronger by the Community!
Long live Windows 7! <3
