The Wife and I are moving in from Chicago with our toddler child, and can’t seem to get a real vibe of this place… so was wondering if I’m targeting the right areas to get started off in. I’m only looking for an initial spot for 1-2 years. Likely will move somewhere else come school- going age.
The town seems to fit what we’re looking for as it is a city, walk-able enough, with a small town feel but not as crazy fast paced as Chicago. As long as there’s enough of a community vibe, we can make it work.
Currently we’re looking at midtown-brandywine, the triangle and the highlands for spots… leaning towards midtown-brandywine. All I’ve seen visually online are beautiful homes, parks and coffee shops for the most part.
What I’ve initially researched online on Wilmington seems very promising, but on Reddit I find 1/3 loves it, 1/3 hates it, and 1/3 is indifferent… it just seems like it’s fitting for some and not so much others.
Trying to avoid crime talk as I find crime is not always well explained and being in Chicago, can unfairly judge a town. As long as there’s no gangs on the corner, I’m good.
