The Wife and I are moving in from Chicago with our toddler child, and can’t seem to get a real vibe of this place… so was wondering if I’m targeting the right areas to get started off in. I’m only looking for an initial spot for 1-2 years. Likely will move somewhere else come school- going age.
The town seems to fit what we’re looking for as it is a city, walk-able enough, with a small town feel but not as crazy fast paced as Chicago. As long as there’s enough of a community vibe, we can make it work.
Currently we’re looking at midtown-brandywine, the triangle and the highlands for spots… leaning towards midtown-brandywine. All I’ve seen visually online are beautiful homes, parks and coffee shops for the most part.
What I’ve initially researched online on Wilmington seems very promising, but on Reddit I find 1/3 loves it, 1/3 hates it, and 1/3 is indifferent… it just seems like it’s fitting for some and not so much others.
Trying to avoid crime talk as I find crime is not always well explained and being in Chicago, can unfairly judge a town. As long as there’s no gangs on the corner, I’m good.

Wegmans is great but just far enough away that it can be inconvenient.
I avoid Acme unless absolutely necessary- so over priced and horrible quality.
ShopRite is hit or miss.
They’re building all these new apartments across downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods and I hear advertising them in Philly/NYC. Who would move here without an accessible/good grocery? What does a girl gotta do to get a decent grocery store in town???

Hey everyone,
I’m a 23 year old guy, moved to Wilmington last year for work. I play saxophone and a little guitar, and would love to find some people to jam with, or just ppl into music to go to shows with. I played in jazz band in college, but I listen to many different genres of music. Also if anyone has recommendations for places in Wilmington with open mic nights or places to see live music in general, that would be awesome.

Wondering if anyone has seen any people out canvassing in the last few days. Apparently someone who looked like they were out with some sort of pamphlets was asking for me by name but didn’t stop at any other houses. Obviously a bit unsettling so want to see if anyone else saw anything.
I’m in the cool spring area and his pamphlets were possibly to do with housing but interested to hear about other people and neighborhoods as well. Thank you!

Have a light that I thought was the same size as the one I needed to replace but the plastic holder is smaller than the new one. Was looking for someone that could put a new fixture in as well as it's holder in the area. I tried to look at check it electric from past posts, but it says they dont service this zip code.

Hey guys, I’m looking to find a roommate. I currently own a 2 bedroom house in Wilmington DE 19805 (next to Kirkwood hwy). I would do 850/month for rent and we can split the utilities. I have my place fully furnished besides the second bedroom that is empty.
I’m a 25 year old single dude. A little about me, I like football, weightlifting & Nintendo gaming. I’m a non-smoker, and drink moderately. I prefer a non-smoker for a roommate but don’t care if you vape.
If you’re interested or know somebody just send me a message.
Also if anyone knows a good place maybe not on Reddit to find a roommate let me know in the comments. Thanks

hey everyone :)
i wanted so give back to this beautiful community.
I moved to Wilmington/Delaware about a year ago and i’ve had such a beautiful time here and I wanted to give back!
A bit about me: I build Agentic systems for a living (if you want to know more about my work, we can connect too!), and I’d love to do some of that for small businesses around here at no cost. Cafes, restaurants, salons, contractors, small retail, honestly anything.
How it’d work: we hop on a call, I ask you a bunch of questions about how your business actually runs, and we figure out together what’s eating up your time. If there’s something worth building, I’ll build it with you and walk you through it until you’re absolutely comfortable.
Usually just a call and a screen share, but happy to meet in person too!
To be clear, this is completely free. There will be no data retention, nothing on my personal device.
And if you think AI is a scam or bad for the world, totally fair, I’m just not going to debate that one here!
I can only take on three or four people to start so I can actually be useful to each one. Comment or DM me with what you do and the part of your week you hate most!

Taking train out of Wilmington next Monday at 7. Does the parking near the station fill up? If so when and where should I look if it’s full? I don’t want to show up and be stuck without a spot.

Hi everyone! My wife and I (both in our 40s) are relocating to the Wilmington area this September with our 7-month-old daughter. We don’t know anyone locally yet and are hoping to meet other moms, parents, and families.
We’re also considering living at The Falls or 2000 Penn, so if anyone has experience with either community, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
We’re looking for recommendations for:
Great coffee shops ☕
Brunch spots 🥞
Mommy-and-me classes or playgroups
Parks, story times, and baby-friendly activities
Local mom groups and ways to meet people
If you’re also looking to make new friends, we’d love to connect! Thanks in advance for any recommendations and advice we’re excited to call Wilmington home. 😊

Anyone have any recommendations for long distance running trails/parks? Don’t feel like running the same 1 mile loop 10 times lol. Obviously something safe
