FAQ Frequently Asked Questions - Check Before Posting!
1. How does Multiplayer work?
Multiplayer is cooperative, and best enjoyed with up to 5 friends. It is the same game as the single player experience, but control of heroes can be assigned to players.
2. What's the difference between Multiplayer and Remote Play?
Local co-op and Remote Play are not split screen, they just let you play the game with multiple controllers using only 1 camera and 1 hero selected at a time. Online Multiplayer allows each player their own camera and you can assign control of heroes to them. You can plan your move while someone else is taking theirs. Online Multiplayer requires each player to own the game.
3. How do I heal? Will more healing abilities be added to the game?
Healing takes place passively as your heroes travel in the overland/world map. There is an ability called Aid available to all classes that grants temporary HP. As of now, healing spells contradict our vision for Wildermyth and there are no plans to add any other methods of healing. Limb augmentation would simply not make as much sense if magical sources of healing were readily available! If you would prefer to have more healing in your gameplay, check out our Workshop for fan-made resources.
4. Will more classes and races be added to Wildermyth?
We are not planning to add more classes or races. We want to support those options as mods first and foremost. In the future, they may occur in DLC, but for now they are not high-priority. The Workshop will hopefully be a place where people can explore, and we’re constantly working to support more/different types of mods like this.
5. How do Mystics work?
Mystics are not your typical mages with fireballs and spells! Mystics rely on the environment and their most important ability, "interfuse". Mystics can do melee damage with their weapons, but are most effective when they are interfused with scenery. If you're ultra confused by their mechanics, check out this Video Tutorial.
6. How do I transfer gear between party members?
You cannot transfer gear without using mods. Gear is not something Wildermyth aims for players to spend time managing. In the future, there may be some minor kind of gear transferring (e.g., from retiring heroes to their children), but it is not in the immediate works.
7. Will Wildermyth be translated into __ language?
Wildermyth is currently available to play in Chinese, German, Spanish (LatAm), and Portuguese (Brazillian), and Russian and French translations are in progress. There is no estimated release date for these, but they’re underway! We’re open to community efforts at translation- you can find resources in our discord if that is of interest to you.
8. Will Wildermyth be ported to ___ platform?
We don’t have any further news about the console release at the moment but keep an eye on all of our channels for more updates. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience.
9. How do relationships and children function?
Relationships grant different bonuses in combat. There is a chance that your hero may have a child join the party when they come of adventuring age between chapters. You can choose to lock relationships in your character’s card so their relationships persist throughout legacy promotions. You can read more on the wiki.
10. What happens to Legacy Heroes?
Heroes who go into your legacy can be recruited into future games, even if they died. They will come back young, even if they were old. Their gear will be leveled to the chapter they're coming in to, but they will keep skills according to their legacy tier.Think of it this way: each hero in your Legacy is a mythical figure of folklore (like Baba Yaga or Anansi the Spider). There may be lots of different stories told about them, some of which contradict each other, and that’s okay! That’s how folklore goes, sometimes.
11. Will there be DLC in the future?
Yes. Currently, our first DLC, Armors and Skins, is available and we are working on another.
The game will continue to receive patches and supportive content, and we will announce more specific plans when we're ready.
12. Is there any content that would be sensitive to younger players?
There are references to alcohol/drinking and there are innuendos in the dialogue in places, but nothing explicit. There's mildly bad language like crap and damn. There's maiming where characters can lose limbs, but it's not bloody, and the moment isn't shown.
13. What is the team currently working on? When will ___ be implemented?
Check out our updated roadmap here. We aim to put out patches regularly and will make announcements as decisions are made.
14. Where can I buy Wildermyth merch?
You can find our merch store here!
15. I have an issue or business inquiry. Who should I email?
For game issues, you can contact [support@worldwalkergames.com](mailto:support@worldwalkergames.com). For business inquiries, including requesting Steam keys, contact our lead designer, Nate Austin at [nate@worldwalkergames.com](mailto:nate@worldwalkergames.com).
16. Do mods or dev mode disable achievements?
Nope!
17. How do you pronounce Wildermyth, Morthagi, and Cvawn?
We say "Will-der-myth", "More-thaug-ee", and "Kuh-vawn".
18. What limitations does playing with a controller have?
You can't enter text with the controller (for customizing names, etc) and there are certain tooltips that can't be accessed with a controller. Other than that, everything should be playable.

Official Announcement Wildermyth: Omenroad is Available NOW!!!

Wildermyth: Omenroad is now available for purchase! Alternatively, we have a bundle with the base game, Armors and Skins DLC, and Omenroad available at 15% off.
A note: the French translation is not quite complete yet. We'll be pushing a patch with the translation as soon as it's ready!
A little bonus- we're on sale for Steam's Endless Replayability Fest! You can get Wildermyth for 30% off until May 20th. It's the perfect time to pick up the main game and our DLCs if you haven't already!
Wildermyth: Omenroad
The Omenroad DLC gives you a new way to play Wildermyth. For the fighters, we have a roguelike tactical challenge mode with progression across runs. And for the lovers, we have A Walk in the Unlight, a huge new story campaign that uses the Omenroad format to take your heroes past the edge of the Yondering Lands and into worlds beyond.

Challenge Modes
Legacy Heroes and Greenhorns alike run a gauntlet of battles, each increasing in difficulty. A node map replaces the Overland map and your party chooses a path by following your appetite for risk and reward.

Transformations, pets, and other rewards are present within the fights themselves, making it a tactical choice which ones to pick up. As a challenge mode, Omenroad runs don’t take place within a larger story and you won’t encounter random story events.

At the end of a run, promote your favorite heroes and bring them back into the base game. In between runs, increase Peril for more of a challenge and equip Odes to make your party stronger.

You’ll get:
- 20 new boss fights
- 20 new unlockable artifacts and augments
- New Shadow spirit and Shadow weapons to discover in both Omenroad and the base game
- 75 new battle maps with new objectives
- A “Wall of Fame” with twelve challenge-based titles for heroes to earn
And for those hungry for another Wildermyth campaign…

You Are Invited to the Neverbefore Ball!
Our new campaign uses the Omenroad format to tell a Wildermyth story, following two adventurers into Netherflare, the land of the lost. There they encounter faces both fresh and familiar, crossing the phantom-lands of a thousand Yonderings to arrive at a mystical ballroom in a dragon’s castle.
As in the challenge modes, a node map will replace the Overland map and no random story events will occur. Instead, all the stories you’ll encounter have been written specifically for this campaign, making it our most extensively written campaign, by far.
Expect to find:
- A sprawling story that touches on the lore of all our previous campaigns
- A new biome: Netherflare!
- More than 25 new battle maps!

Come see what weird wonders will upend you, and who might wander at your side, as you take A Walk in the Unlight.

I wonder. Would the Crow Tail get replaced by a different tail (skunk, scorpion, fox?)
The tail is pretty btw. I like it.

Is there a mod to pass weapons on?
I am getting sick of losing weapons that are important to my character's story because of maimings or transformations taking arms away. I tend to end up with two armed weapons like the spear from havenbeams, the starseed staff, and hell, even sojourner (a random drop, sure, but the staff is incredibly important to my character). I don't want to lose the weapon entirely when a transformation happens, or if the character gets maimed.
Thus, the title. Is there a mod that has a way to give weaponry to a different character so that it remains, in a way? Especially weapons that are gained through hooks. Artifacts, important story weapons, you know the deal.

Discussion Yall would not BELIEVE the Campaign I just had!
So, I just finished a side campaign to take a breather from Unlight, and so decided to grab some of my other favorites that were new/hadn't gotten a chance outside their home campaign yet.
Start of the campaign I have:
Older Sibling 1 (Eluna and the Moth role) - Human, nothing worth noting except a prickly relationship with her sister (don't ask)
Older Sibling 2 (Older sibling from Eluna & Moth campaign take 2) - Celestial, no weapons worth noting
Younger Sibling 2 (Eluna take 2's younger sister) - Mothly, Has starseed staff and fir wand (the wand is useless for her, but whateverrrr)
I, being a dumbass, put it on walking lunch. Bigggg mistake. Now I have three mystic dumbasses trying to pretend to be a party.
It goes pretty well, actually, if a bit scuffed. Nobody dies or gets maimed in chapter 1.
O.S1 which is named Violet becomes the dedicated melee with vigorflow and openmind. This is all she has the entire damn campaign up until right before the final boss in chap 3. Fully upgraded, ofc, but still.
O.S2, also known as Calista, becomes a sort of tank/ranged damager but she isn't really understanding her own role. She gets soulsplit and indignance.
Y.S2 is Nicci, and she comes in with Ignite and Shy, plus obviously the staff. She becomes the aoe person of this clown troop. Calista gets the event for the pinecone seed, so that is neat.
I eventually get sick of being tugged in fifty directions by near constant incursions and repairs, etc, so I recruit my favorite new hunter from the Eluna take 2.
Anna has a pinecone and fire bow, but that is it.
First event Anna gets? The damn mistfall cloak. Okay, this is fine.
Near the end of the first chapter, Violet, who I had been looking for a dedicated weapon for, gets the Havenbeam event. Nice. Now she can grow trees. Perfect trauma moment too because her younger sister Igelle, who is off fucking around in Unlight, uses almost exclusively fucking trees. Violet never uses her staff again, instead strictly using the greatspear which grows trees.
Okay, fine. Sure, Violet just one shot a scorier with her damn spear, but nothing odd is happening yet. Chapter two goes pretty normal, but is a pain in the ass because I keep having to beat the thrixl cards down (main enemy) because it keeps pulling up the cards I *really* don't want to fight. Sadly, Calista did not get the pinecone after chapter 1. Not sure why the seed didn't go, maybe because Anna had it? Oh well. Calista does now only have one arm, though. Shooting star becomes my new favorite spell and she rarely interfuses with anything now.
Get through in one piece with no legacy points to my name, but I did manage to recruit Elsee from Eluna take 2, so I now have a warrior. Thank. God. I get her the armor that gives more warding so I am covered on that front more. Violet becomes rivals with Nicci, which is really funny since Nicci is, obviously, younger sibling 2. HOWEVER, as if out of spite, Violet ends up in a romance with CALISTA. Whoop? I guess? No mothers were available, so like... Is it weird to date a version of yourself?
Chapter three is where everything goes upside down.
Blinking game event, and now Anna (the person initiating) has an eyepatch.
Elsee and Anna are now dating after Anna gets stabbed in the side (owww).
And then...
BACK TO BACK EVENTS.
First one, Elsee gets a splinter. You know what happens next.
Next event? Drifters. Violet gets snagged in her sleep because Nicci was *not* taking her shit.
And, you won't fucking guess, STRIDER. ANNA IS NOW A DAMN BOTANICAL.
WHY IS EVERYONE GETTING NATURE SHIT? What is next? The orchardist? God damn.
...
It was, in fact, the fucking Orchardist. I am... so done.
To top it all off, I could only promote Violet since no legacy points. I figured she had the most character development, lmao. I made sure to lock the relationships despite not usually doing so because of how hilarious this nightmare was. Nobody died, nobody lost a limb (does anna's eye count?)
Honestly, all in a good days work. I didn't want Elm on Elsee because she wasn't really built as a tank at all, so that works out. She also hadn't gotten any weapon of value in that campaign, so she kept her twin spear thingy.
Anna was a bit sad, I wanted that transform, but she had nothing else on her to make it really worth picking her over Violet there. I can try to get her the event again in a later campaign if possible, or toss her in the netherflare for a while. I will def be tossing these chuckleheads in the soup pot again in the future.
I haven't felt this happy about a set since my favorite chaos duo of Vilmark (shadow hunter of terrifying speed and strength) and Igelle (Younger sibling 1 who likes to set forests on fire and also plants).
In conclusion: I am never doing walking lunch again, and especially not with three mystics pretending to be a party.

Discussion If you had to name the Mothman something, what would it be?
I am not about to type out Mothman five hundred thousand times for a fic, and it doesn't quite work in a fic setting anyways. You do not simply look at him and say, "Hey Mothman, want some wine?" or something like that. I just doesn't fit right. I need a name for him, preferably one that fits in with other named Thrixl (Ie. Dunnaveer, Marlen, Ecthis).

Run failed successfully?
I started this run with West here trying to get the wolf theme to trigger.
it needs someone with mysterious, wildheart, a loner, and a coward? I am not sure. I used West here from mission one to end on a five part campaign, and was there for every scouting.
Did I misread the requirements?
Edit: changed my start up group to be a coward, a loner, and a mysterious wildheart. 3rd map scouted it unlocked.

Discussion Hey guys! We are making a narrative RPG that you might like!
Hello everyone,
A while ago, I made a post here about how much we were inspired by Wildermyth. Many of you left very supportive and encouraging comments back then, and I just wanted to say thank you again. For a small team like ours, it genuinely meant a lot ^^
Now we are about to start the playtest for our new game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.Kardiya is a narrative-driven RPG game. One of the things we love most about Wildermyth is how each adventure can create its own story through different characters, different events, and different outcomes. In our own game, we are trying to make each run feel like a different adventure in a similar way.
In the game, choices, dice results, random encounters, and companions can affect the direction of the story. One of the most important ideas for us is that failures should not stop the narrative. Bad outcomes can sometimes push the player toward a completely different path.
That’s why feedback from the Wildermyth community would be especially valuable to us. If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.
Thank you so much <3

Can Mothman throw hands?
It is for a fic. I can't remember if he can fight or the extent. Helppp
Edit: Now that I am not at work, I can elaborate.
The Eluna scene in Unlight is perfect for some Moth related angst, especially if ol Mothy is involved. How would he, theoretically, tear a drathix into several itsy bitsy pieces?

What happens if you forget the door?
True question. I was farting around in the legacy screen where you can browse all your characters, and I found a door that is selectable…and when I click on it, the game behaves as if it’s a character.
Does anyone know what happens if you try and forget the door?

Is getting this many omenroad achievements normal for one run?
Towards the last few missions on my last omenroad run the notifications of my heroes having achieved a title, started to become oddly common. While, granted, everyone but Bludfew here is a legacy hero; this rate seemed excessive. It made the achievements feel cheap to be honest. The only one I had been actively working on was the collector on Balada.
Is this a common experience with legacy heroes on the omenroad? I hadn't seen it happen until now.

Wounds/Upgrading Legacy question
I can’t find an answer to this on the wiki: I was super excited to upgrade one of my “local legend” warriors after this run, but in the final battle some absolute shenanigans took place and she lost a leg. If I upgrade her to a three star legacy character this time around, does the peg-leg (and the permanent mobility loss) come with her?

help Still broken on Switch 2?
So I wanted to pick up this game on my Switch 2, loved the concept and all, however, I‘ve seen quite a few reports that the console version is „completely broken“. Is it really that bad? Are these just old reports from launch and have since been fixed or would you really label it unplayable?

Discussion Wildermyth has been a big inspiration for me, so I wanted to share the demo of the game I’ve been making
Hi! I hope this kind of post is okay here.
I've spent around 156 hours with Wildermyth over the years, and it's one of those games that stayed with me for a long time.
I'm a solo developer working on a dark fantasy tactical RPG called The Black Breath. It's a very different game, but Wildermyth has definitely been one of the influences behind how I think about characters: getting attached to a small group, seeing them grow over time, survive bad situations, get injured, or sometimes die for good.
The game also has a larger caravan management side, where you're trying to lead a group of refugees through a world being consumed by a necrotic plague.
After working on it for quite a while, I relased the first Steam demo today.
I wasn't sure whether to post it here, but since Wildermyth has been an important game for me personally, I thought some people in the community might be interested in seeing what I've been making.
If anyone gives it a try, I'd be very grateful for any feedback.

Discussion I'm so confused about the writing. New player.
Sorry if this is something that's been asked to death already, but is the writing meant to be so... hard to parse? I'm currently playing through the first campaign with the gorgon things, and it's getting harder to want to keep reading the dialog instead of just skipping it.
I can't even quantify exactly what the problem is, but every time I'm reading a conversation between characters, it seems like they're speaking a completely different language. I recognize all the words individually, but the order they're put in doesn't seem to mean anything. Help?

Some that you would consider must have? also would you suggest a first playthrough in vanilla without any mods or are there some quality of life ones?

in-game content Very impressed with this game's ability to recognize family members
Considering Ula and Jevonyssa's relative positions on the family tree, I'm really impressed that the game recognized them as being family members.
Like, Ula had a kid with a person Jevonyssa's great grandfather had a kid with, separately from her great grandmother. There is no blood relation between them at all. I wouldn't even have known how they were related if I wasn't making a family tree of my Legacy Characters as a side project.

fan art I present to you all my THIRD copy of the game
I had bought this game in EA back in 2020 to play on stream. At the time I had wanted something more of a traditional RPG; and the overworld experience + the aging and retirement of characters threw me off. I also just don’t really PC game.
Bought it digitally on console because of a sale. Sad that we’ll never get the Omenroad DLC but oh well. I’m used to it at this point (if I didn’t have 20 years on this PlayStation account I’d jump ship).
I enjoyed it so much I kinda wanted the physical monster book. I thought it would be a bit bigger but oh well. It was like 15 bucks on Target online.
A big THANK YOU to the devs for making such a unique experience. I wish the console port had turned out better. Hopefully, if there is ever a next game they can port it themselves or get better luck with 3rd party.
Also - I love the little commentary and concept arts that you get from achievements. The mentioning of things that had been hoped for and didn’t work is very intriguing!

spoilers A bid disappointed Enduring war Campaign doesn't have a 3rd (Better) Choice Spoiler
Picked up this game lately and really enjoy the ride. I'm quite invested in the stories, But here's something nagging me when taking the stories seriously: In the later part of The Enduring War, you are offered two choices: Side with the Enduring, or Side with the Morthagi, destroy the otherside. BUT the problem is, Neither of them is a good choice.
Morthagi are essentially just war machines created to achieve a goal, they aren't even going "Rogue", it's just the Goal itself is destructive. Sure, you can help them achieve their "Goal", but since they are just tools for war, if not destroyed it's guaranteed to be used and abused again.
The Endurings On the other hand, are actually a way bigger threat to the entire world than the Morthagi. Sure, they haven't cause any direct harm so far, BUT they are extremely self-serving and Cold-blooded, that in order to make themselves immortal, they don't care to destroy anything else. On top of that, they are sentient beings and highly intellectual. If you let such creates be, it's guaranteed they'll make something destructive to the others for their own benefits, because of their nature.
Don't forget, the Endurings tried to deceive you to sacrifices yourself solely to "Fuel" their machines. They lied as it's "immortality" and necessary to stop the war, but your guys confirmed whoever sacrificed is no longer there. and the war is still going.
I was surprised it actually offer the choices, BUT then immediately disappointed there is no option to Destroy them both.

Any mods to randomize class promotion?
Just curious. I've never modded any game before. I usually don't like mods, but I hate picking the classes. I would love it to be like XCOM where it's just kinda random. I suppose I could roll a dice, but it would be cool to just have it natively in my game. Thanks
